fame in the family

anyone had a family member or someone close to them who has become famous through a weird or strange situation.

a few years ago my grandad worked at a few races courses in the local area and it was his job to check that no one got into the vip area who shouldnt

anyway, one particular day princess anne tried to just walk in without her regular escort and just assumed she would be let in (she was wearing somewhat of a disguise), but my grandad the stubborn guy that he is refused to believe she was who she said she was and didnt let her in.

and so the next day, the headline of a few national news was a pic of him with his hand in her face saying 'sorry luv, you're not coming in'

:D

My Dad's friend Rod used to work for the security company who let all the bands into the appropriate areas at Reading Festival. He's knows absolutely fuck all about bands or music or anything though. So this one year these two scruffy looking guys with long hair turn up and Rod's just like "Guys, you've got the wrong passes, these are for tomorrow, not today, you ain't getting it." They just turned around and walked away, didn't make a fuss or anything. A little while later, they came back with some chief security guy who just went "Rod, don't be an arse, these guys are in Nirvana, let 'em in!"

Ace.

I shook that Edinburgh prince - edward's hand?

I came within headbutting distance of the spice girls when I worked at the the treetops.

And I also slapped "Big Van Vader" on the back as he was walking up the wrestling gangway, when he was WCW..

My Uncle Mick Buxton used to be a manager of Sunderland Fc back in the late 80's or something.

His son my cousin James wrote a book, called subterrainen.

An old friend of mine snogged Jordan in Ibiza a while back..So he claims.

I also had to fetch Andy Whatshisface from Big City a glass of water once, and also Theo Snelders was caught out naked in the dressing room whilst the official club tour was doing it's duty.....Larf? Indeed.

wow quite a life iv'e had.

My Mum's, cousin Claire's, aunt came to adopt her niece (My Mum's cousin). This woman is Sally Kellerman who had her breasts out in Mash, and is the narrator of a new animated film coming out called Delgo. Her husband is Jonathan Crane, a poducer who used to manage John Travolta, now a family friend, and has produced films such as Swordfish and Face/Off. Claire makes jewellery and Sheryl Crow bought a $500 dog collar for her pooch from her, and Claire gave my scruffy dog one for free when she came to visit. Sally also adopted twins called Jack and Hannah, Claire's brother and sister. Hannah's best friend from school is Julie Andrew's daughter. They're so rich we had to teach Hannah how to use a payphone.

Tim, the brother in law of the main lady from "the Mummy" lived in our cottage for a year or so.

There was a programme made about my Dad and his friend Mike for the BBC when they were about 20, because they built a plane from scratch.

I was on Songs of Praise.

My grandfather's double bass features on the majority of Jimmy Shand's records. He was well known in the Scottish Jazz and Folk scene in the 50s and 60s. Unfortunately, it's not him playing it! Jimmy Shand's bassist elected to borrow his bass from his home in Dollar rather than transporting one long distances.

My sister's band were on CD:UK and MTV2 in 2002. They were an indie rock band called Draw and released a couple of singles that year. My sister has since left the band but they are still going.
