  1. Also watched Changeling and Wall-E on my new HD projector screen. After I stopped wetting myself over the novelty of having a 150 inch screen in my room, I really enjoyed both films. Wall-E is an animated masterpiece. I can't normally get into anything that is not 'real' (as vague as that sounds... as soon as I'm meant to dispend belief I lose interest) but I was gripped. Changeling is a solid effort all round boosted by the presence of the Malk. Read a good quote in an interview with a Hollywood marketing exec the other day who said that "...if marketing didn't exist, John Malkovich would be in every film." i.e. They have to churn out rubbish to make bucks and proper acting doesn't sell. Shame.
  2. Watched that bad boy this wknd too. Has a bit of a straight-to-video, cheap production vibe and some of the acting is a bit gash but it's actually really watchable and I kinda liked the ending. I can imagine bouncers seeing it as their 'Rocky'.
  3. jake the snake is a cracked up mentalist. It does bear a resemblance but I reckon the basis of inspiration was a whole host of washed up wrestlers.
  4. When in Holland, don't bother with Amsterdam. It's a bit of a rite of passage but it's become so touristy and watered down it's a waste of time. (my opinion only) Go to Rotterdam instead. Less stoned frat boys pining on about how 'weed should, like, totally be legal in the states' (yawn) and pissed up stag parties (nicknames printed on t-shirts = wankers) clogging up the place. It's got a quality natural history museum, modern art gallery and just as much coffee shops (if that's your thing). It's also got a skate park slap bang in the centre which is pretty cool. Out in the more ghetto outskirts you can get some amazing ethnic food on the cheap too. Cracking music scene as well, loads of gigs on all the time. Dutch folk always say they prefer it to Amsterdam.
  5. Can't remember, read that book when I was far too young (bout 13) and it scarred me too much to be able to read it again. Quality dissertation topic btw.
  6. I wasn't going for a precise scene reference, more just continuing what the post above started. Consider egg firmly on face tho. ta.
  7. ... accompanied by Huey Louis and The News.
  8. A bit more than your average beat boxer... Guy's got skills.
  9. I'm gonna learn to play the keyboard that I bought. Been using it for 'inputting' to cubase rather than actually playing properly. I can read music, as in I know what all the notes and lengths are, but will need tons of practice before I can play a full piece fluently. Practice practice practice.
  10. i once literally dreamt about their garlic prawn starter.
  11. It's definitely worth a watch. I just thought most of it was pretty shmaltzy and felt too forced. I like my indies a bit more subtle. I still like Braff though. Watched W. the other day. George Bush comes off as a bit of a legend which is surprising considering it's an Oliver Stone film. I suppose it would have been too easy to totally rip the piss out of him. Decent enough film full of 'him-out-of...' faces.
  12. the original italian version of the last kiss is brilliant. called 'l'ultimo bacci'. Would recommend it highly. if it wasnt for nathalie portman being stunning, garden state would be mince. Really overdone all round: acting, visuals, script.
  13. Lovin the avatar Ross P btw. That's the only image that came to mind when they announced he was taking over.
  14. what's a DNB? is that you win if they win and no bet if they draw? just put 40 quid on barca. its all from my online account which, due to a good streak, i haven't topped up for months so in my mind its not real money.
  15. how did u get on? After a disaster yesterday I've gone for a 'Ah-Fuck-it' 10 quid triple on Newcastle, cellic and chelsea.
  16. accumulator with the gooners, spurs, man yoo, villa, dandy dons and hearts. 4 quid gives out 200. long shot but u never know. eyes down.
  17. run > type msconfig and enter > startuop tab. check if its on the list of start up items.
  18. Came across a social networking site that actually seems to have a good idea behind it. Useful for bands looking for a place to crash whilst on tour. Get involved. Better Than The Van | Home
  19. Ha ha...Same here. Below mediocre goal to game ratios, high work rates balanced with minimal skill and ability, etc, etc. Despite that, good signing. He should do well.
  20. Oddly enough, the most recent one Chrome Dreams II. If just for Ordinary People. 18 minutes of bliss!
  21. You do realise paper is biodegradable?
  22. You're right... It'll be at the Belmont where it all kicks off.
  23. Haven't seen that for a good while, Carrey's best performance for sure. After seeing it for the first time I went on a mission to find out as much as I could about Andy Kaufman. Did the same with Lenny Bruce after the Dustin Hoffman film. Can't beat a good biopic. ... Speaking of... anyone seen the new film bout Biggie Smalls? dunno if its out yet and Ive got google-fatigue. I kinda want to see it.
  24. not much to go on really. It's a bit basic and slightly off key. Can't really hear the lyrics either but I think you rhyme 'romance' with 'in a trance' and noone's done that since early nineties europop so kudos for that.
