  1. Ive now had that in my head for three straight days... I can't go on.
  2. Optical zoom is the way forward. Don't be swayed by digital zoom, it's a waste of time as the more you zoom, the bigger the pixels get. A useless feature really.
  3. Bumblebeez I've never heard of but anyone that suggests Aesop Rock I will trust. Cheers.
  4. in the electro/hip hop with good lyrics vein, I'm liking Cadence Weapon at the moment. His album Afterparty babies is amazing. MySpace.com - Cadence Weapon - Edmonton, CA - Hip Hop / IDM / Disco House - www.myspace.com/cadenceweaponmusic As much as the photo on Why?'s myspace makes me want to punch them in the face, that album is brilliant. I got it based on someone's review on a thread on this site. Cheers whoever it was.
  5. I thinks she's quality. Can't explain why though. Her track 'I got you dancing' is class and is free to download.

    DJ Mr Yogi

Special shout out to Wirey too... i've gotten into a fair few bands based on his recommendations. Notably Silversun Pickups and Mansun, who i missed first time around.
  7. He was brilliant at the music hall last time. There is a lot more to him than his TV persona. I was dubious before going but haven't laughed as much since. His timing was flawless. I don't see why you need to tell a story to be funny, a one-liner can be as funny and clever as a long winded set-up. His book about jokes (not technically a joke book) is great and I would highly recommend it, he comes across like a nerdy comedy historian.

    DJ Mr Yogi

Yogi is an ace guy who takes pride in the job he does. If he likes a band he lets them know and promotes them to other people, which is a good thing for someone who works in a music shop. He'll be well chuffed with the recognition!
  9. 'If you only buy one 20 inch canvas print of Paul Ross this year, this is the one to get.' ...just pissed myself laughing and got some odd looks from work-mates because of that line.
  10. Brilliant... I just read all 36 reviews
  11. ...Like that kiddie band from Dundee that nicked loads of equipment from downstairs at drummonds. Some really valuable stuff too I remember. They have never gotten another gig anywhere after! While crisp fights aren't even nearly on the same level as that, that type of shit doesn't do you any favours.
  12. Good article. I may be in the minority, but i am fully in favour of singing/rapping in your own accent. I know it has been a bit of a fad recently with the artic monkeys/glasvegas/kooks, etc, etc and the whole mockney thing does seem a bit worn but regardless of the music's merit, as a concept I think it's a good thing. British people tend to take for granted what a great linguistic nation we have. Not many other countries (if any at all) has as strong and varied regional differences of dialect, accent, venacular, intonation, etc. You can travel a few miles down the road and meet someone who uses a completely different vocabulary and accent, and this is true wherever you go in the country. You just need to think of the amount of specific accents there are or the number of ways there are of saying how drunk you are depending on where you come from for proof of how rich and varied our language can be. In my opinion this is something that should be incorporated into music. ... I know this is of little relevance to giving feedback to the Rap video but i just thought I'd bring it up. As an ex linguistics student, it's something I have a lot of interest in and part of the reason I like Hip Hop from different parts of the world.
  13. Chelsea looked pretty threatening in the 2nd half against cluj and the top spot is up for grabs so I reckon they'll be hungry today. I flirted with Real at 5/1 yesterday but thought better of it. Good thing in the end. What a game tho. Casillas was jaskaleinaan-esque.
  14. I should have known better than to include an early kick off in an accumulator... If it doesn't come off it ruins the rest of the day's games. I'm pretty rubbish at this whole betting malarky to be honest. I can see Chelsea putting at least 3 past West Ham today. Any other tips for the day? I've got a double on Lille and Lyon winning today too.
  15. It seems like it was a case of the studio just trusting Apatow that it would turn out funny and noone telling him to wise up and actually write proper jokes. And, it has totally put me off Seth Rogen. It's that annoying stoner laugh he's got.
  16. Agreed, it's utter pish. I didn't laugh once and I quite like stoner films normally.
  17. This one's a total departure i.e. a documentary. But, it has the same intensity. I think it was this that made me start liking Herzog ... YouTube - Werner Herzog Eats His Shoe 1/2 Also, It's amazing to think that they actually heaved that boat over the hill in Fitzcaraldo.
  18. today Ive got... Liverpool, Man city, Arsenal, Villa and Fulham all to win Wigan and WBA to draw. fingers crossed. Also placed the same double bet as the above post for the fun of it.
  19. That's one of my favourite films ever. Werner Herzog is a mad genius.
  20. I saw Onion Terror only once, at the moorings. Your cover of Umbarella was class. Not enough local bands have a sense of humour IMO. You guys were funny and looked like you were enjoying yourselves.
  21. skink being the main one i presume?
  22. Im not in Aberdeen anymore but i used to do the drummonds quiz (any chat about regulars/staff cheating is rubbish!!! we all took that shit seriously) and the Belmont cinema one coz im a film geek (our team was more 4-5 out of ten per round tho, there were some turbo-geeks there who used to rinse everyone) A couple of times I did the one at the pub on the green. Can't remember the name of the place, something to do with a king i think. It was really good but only once a fortnight. A good level and a fair mix of questions and also had a bonus dart throwing round where someone got picked out a hat and had to get a certain score to win cash. Also, free pies and sausage rolls were passed round mid quiz. I'm pretty sure there's another thread somewhere about good quizzes.
  23. Mr Walker takes 'popular search engines' for 500
  24. i thought that was really good. the first few lines I was thinking 'uh oh' but the flow picks up and that is a tune and a half you've got there. The Scottish accent is subtle and completely genuine which is refreshing and the production value, except the fake sky, is of a high standard. I will definitely be passing the link on to all my friends who are into Hip Hop. On another note, I don't think it is true to say that Hip Hop doesn't go down well on this site, it's more that there isn't much in Aberdeen that's good and gets posted. (Im talking bout MCs, not DJs, there are loads of good hip hop djs in abdn) If something is good it will get the credit it deserves I reckon. There are allways gonna be dismissive close-minded numpties but there are more than enough people who will give things a chance whatever the genre.
