  1. They are gradually taking over the world. All we need now is David Beckham to grow a vagina on his arm and Charlotte Church to vomit her organs out and Armando Ianucci is officially Nostradamus in disguise. For anyone who hasn't seen Time Trumpet that is probably the oddest post ever. Apologies.
  2. I love a good plate of stovies. I always thought there would be some odd ingredient in there like suet or something else you never bother buying. Giving that recipe a go for sure.
  3. good selection! The fact that Rourke's face looks a bit plasticiney even fits his character. Perfectly played role, you can almost feel his body falling to bits. He must have been injecting steroids for a long time in preperation for this film, that's method acting!
  4. Great film and book. 'Seeing eye bitch' gets me every time. Not bad for a 19 yr old author! Here's an interesting article that first made me aware of Jonathan Foer for anyone who can be bothered reading it. Annals of Culture: Late Bloomers: Reporting & Essays: The New Yorker ... He only briefly comes into discussion about halfway through but it's a great piece of journalism.
  5. Good haul for me this weekend. Dons, Arabs and Andy murray did me nice favours and got a few in-running treats with man yoo and real both scoring more than 2 goals. Tottenham let me down but that was to be expected, the odds were too tempting. Wigan are an immense team. Been a while since i've seen them in action. They've got a few world class players.... plus Titus Bramble. Hopefully Barca will continue their winning streak and i'll be bout 30 quid up for the wknd.
  6. Most martial arts films have been butchered beyond recognition by the time they reach bargain bins in the uk.
  7. Spot on.... Was gonna correct myself. I meant to write Revenge of the Drunken Master, got them at the same time. That's the weird one with the strange belly button thing.
  8. Lone Wolf and Cub is a classic. Samourai film about a guy who carts his kid around in a pram and beats folk up. Also, Shogun Assasin which is bizarre but brilliant. The police strory films are a good place to start with Jackie Chan. Some of the stunts he does are incredible....YouTube - Cinemassacre's Top 10 Jackie Chan Stunts

    From Holy Moly

    Same here. That's a classic.
  10. You will not be disapointed. It's like ten mini films in one. Watched The Killing of a Chinese Bookie last night. Cassavetes at his best. Classic 70s film.
  11. If you're making anything you would normally put ketchup on, like burgers or hot dogs or whatever, a nice, tastier and ridiculously easy substitute is: soften finely chopped red onion in olive oil add roughly chopped tomatoes (any kind, remove the seeds) add a few generous dashes of balsamic vinegar and a spoonful of brown sugar stir on a highish heat until the tomatoes are mushy.... BAM... home made relish.
  12. Fair point and one i do not disagree with. All I was trying to say was that money in the bank does not allways equal a team devoid of pride/team spirit. The SWP, Ireland, Robinho trio have shown flashes of brilliance this season and have at times looked like they enjoy playing together and for the badge. I hope the owners can build on that. I have no interest in the Premier league other than that of a neutral spectator. If all this money means exciting football then I'm all for it.
  13. The owner did say when he took over that he was aware results won't come over night. He also talked about building a brand (i.e. an entity outwith football) which is perfectly feasible given the popularity and marketablility of the premier league around the world. It seems the idea is to develop Man Citeh into an American style sports team/franchise, make the club a brand that is instantly recognisable, sells clothing and merchandise etc. If you think about Yankee hats or Lakers shirts... most people who wear them have no idea how successful the team is. I reckon the owner is gonna sprinkle the team with a few big names to attract fans/attention and make sensible signings on the side in the hope the results eventually come. (Bridge is a solid wing back IMO). Nobody is gonna launch that much money into anything without a solid business plan.
  14. They said the same thing when Abromovich wipped oot his cheque book but despite a few bloopers and hissy fits along the way (Shevchenko anyone?), it would be hard to question the team spirit at Chelsea. They've managed to balance flashy star attractions (Drogba, Deco, etc) with lynchpins (Lampard, Terry) and hard working utility players (Mikel, Essien). The money has for the most part bolstered the squad without destroying that sense of team spirit. Man city will need to do the same and try strike a balance. Otherwise they will end up like the infamous footballing vaccum that was the real galactico side from a few years back.
  15. I thought it was pretty good. Didn't over do it with the sacharine and still left room for gervais to ham it up, if only in a slightly diluted way. Definitely had its moments.
  16. Watched The Wrestler last night. What a film! Mickey Rourke should definitely get an Oscar and if it wasn't for Danny Boyle, so should Darren Aronofsky. Even Marisa Tomei is amazing in it. Can't recommend this film enough. Anyone else seen it?
  17. If you're looking for something to do outwith the usual tourist stuff in Paris it is worth checking to see if there is a decent gig at this place that coincides with your stay.... [Le Cabaret Sauvage met en avant : One of the best venues I've been to. It's like a big circus tent. Has a unique atmosphere and does good food. In the summer they have a bbq out the back too.
  18. Best ex-footballer pundit = Shaka Hislop. No joke. He works for ESPN and is incredibly eloquent and knowledgable. Who'd have thunk it. Footytube.com - Latest Football Video Highlights | Latest football soccer Highlights, Videos, Live Football ... The ESPN round up of the year can be seen here. ITV is utter pish. Linekar and hansen are great and I'm even a fan of Chiles but the rest can get to fuck. Remember Tony Adam's brief stint as token gormless idiot? For punditry, noone will ever beat the human spreadsheet that is Jeff Stelling!
  19. Your stuff is awesome. Right up my street. I'd love to know how you get some of those noises.
  20. Recently got the album Dive In Your Life by a band called N.O.H.A. Very listenable Euro pop.
  21. Marseille won last night but only after extra time and seeing as my bet was based on the 90 minute result I didn't win. It's a mugs game!!!!
  22. just watched it. what a hero!!
  23. This thread is slowly diminishing in merit. It's almost on par with the comments on a youtube video. Back on topic... electronic periphiral packaging - why make it so hard to get into and dangerously sharp when you do?
  24. That guy should get his own show! With a bit of good production behind him it would be amazing. His video bout his fridge is comedy gold.
