i guess ive just been unlucky then. I got a 1st generation one when they came out and it looks like it should be in a museum now. 5 gigs and about three times as thick as the ones you get now. It was a battler and survived two battery replacements back when there was a hoohaa bout them not lasting. Every one since then has died on me including most recently an 80gb video one.

i've gone through 3 ipods in as many years. Battery life is terrible and the fact you cant just plug one into any computer and whack stuff on is rather annoying. Each time I say to myself 'this one is gonna last' and it never does. Apple products = I'm out. Used to be a big fan (Ibook g4 lasted me six years) but don't trust them anymore. I might invest in this creative zen doohicky..

Me not liking a particular media buzz word has nothing to do with the issue in question in your post, which seems to be whether we should be allowed to hit kids. To expand on my opinion, basically I think the term 'political correctness' has been overused to the point that it no longer has any significance beyond being a semantic equivalent to 'left-wing' or 'liberal'. The bottom line is that this kid has been raised by idiots, who themselves were probably raised by other idiots. Bad parenting has led him to think it is ok to have a baby at his age. Discipline is only one contributing factor in determining the success of an upbringing. Whether that discipline should be of the corporal variety is an entirely other debate and one that is insignificant in this story and others like it. Education, responsibility and countless other values a good parent should have are just as important but because they are not readily identified on a political scale, the person you quote has just plumped for the easy option of blaming the situation on the fact the boy wasn't cuffed upside the head enough. The same person would probably be the first to cry 'peado!' if corporal punishment was brought back in schools and his kid was taken across a knee by a teacher. and for the record... my 13 year old is expecting his third grandaughter next week. I can't wait to not slap her when she steps out of line.

From what i understand its just the same fraction shown in decimal but with 1 added on. Where the 1 represents your original bet. (i.e. 10 quid on at 1/2 = 10 quid on at (0.5 +1) = 10 x 1.5 = 15 quid) I'm certainly no mathmetician so check this link: converting between traditional and decimal odds

I'm with you on that one. Millions of things annoy me when it comes to films. Here are just two that came to mind. - Badly crowbarred-in expository dialogue. (thanks for randomly stating that you have just been assigned a new partner at the precint, mr policeman, even if it is of no relevence to what is going on at this moment in time) - That moment 5-10 minutes into any bog standard comedy, romantic or otherwise, when the main character walks past the person who is to become the love interest in the story. Slushy music swells and she flicks her hair or laughs in slow motion. (after all these years its the same shit, thoughtless scene every time)

yeh, the theatrical version is a lot shorter. The extended version is more for fans. I personally love that film. John C only needs to open his mouth and I crease myself laughing. The bit where he's on the phone and a guy's nob pops into frame is absolute genius. A damn sight better than Scary Superhero Movie 6 or whatever those wastes of time are called.

Any rehashing of a bankable franchise is shit in my opinion. That includes Batman. There's nothing new nowadays, just needless reworkings of stuff that's come before. It extends to most other cultural products too. e.g. when was the last 'original' stage musical? it's all abba this, queen that. (tenuous link but was just thinking bout it)

That annoys me quite a lot. I am an experienced boarder but don't have the money (nor the desire) to splash out on fancy gear. These posers who talk shit in the queue for the lifts loud enough for everyone to hear then as soon as they get to the top they are utter mince and clog up the run in their 1000s of pounds worth of equipment really bugs me. I try not to be snobby and purist about most things but that really annoys me. Don't talk like you're awesome and don't waste your money on equipment u dont need and will rarely use no matter what your level. Snowboarding is passion of mine but I detest the wankery that goes with it. Give me a resort full of polite rosey-cheeked germans clad in luminous Nevica all-in-oners circa '89 any day.

Glenshee can be brilliant if the conditions are right. Had one of the best days boarding ever there last year and thats including days had at fancy alpine resorts. It wasn't that busy and the snow was perfect. Found a series of natural kickers on a run that noone was using and spent the whole day going back and forth, jumpin off them at stupid speeds. There is pretty much no better feeling in life. I miss snow!

recently discovered a great way to cook steaks. pepper the steaks to buggery fry them as normal, most of the pepper will flake off in the pan. take out the steaks and leave to rest with the meaty gooey goodness still in the pan, take off the heat, add a dash of brandy, flambe the fucker (the best part) put back on the heat and add cream, whisk till all combined = yummy pepper sauce
