  1. do a 1.0 exchange rate with a wee comission. Anyone who can be bothered changing Scottish notes to English ones to avoid a tiny bit of hassle 'dan sarf' deserves to get ripped off. p.s. Is your boss anything like Steve Coogan in The Day Today? "This ain't no two bit punch and judy show... this is a high class bureau de chaaaaange"
  2. peekaboo. I presume thats what you meant.
  3. why yes, yes it is. Best wank in ages too, went straight into the all time top five.
  4. Yep. She was on some panel show a while ago too and came across really well. As an almost related point... what's with Charlie Brooker's friendship with Aislyne from Big Brother? Apparently they met whilst filming Screenwipe and are now best friends. I dunno why I find that fascinating.
  5. Raising Arizona aint too bad either. On another note, I watched the legendary Shane Meadow's Somers Town last night. It's only about an hour long and feels like a low-budget student film but it's every bit as good as his other films. It's about the friendship between a Polish kid and a northern scally kid who meet each other in London. It's got naturalistic, funny dialogue and some excellent 'non-acting' performances, plus an incredibly fit foreign chick. thumbs up all round.
  6. Konnie Huq was presenting?! I'm in love with her, glad she got rid of Bacon. Mario Galaxy is an awesome example of how good the wii can be. Speaking of games... anyone played that Killzone 2? It's stunning.
  7. After all these years we're stilling calling it a Klinsman? Brilliant. I suppose scoring with one of those in-off-the-crossbar goals would still be called a Yeboah? Just checking coz those two names bring back some happy childhood memories.

I can only dream of that feeling. One is skill, two is luck but three is just a miracle... When I'm playing at least.
  9. I couldn't care less about how much you rate a particular band. That's completely subjective and good on you for giving a shit mark where a shit mark is due. My point was more directed at the writing style which has made me, and I'm sure plenty others, unlikely to re-visit your site.
  10. National, local or otherwise, the reviews ain't that great: End of story. If i I fancied publishing a Music based website to the world I would have done so and would have taken criticism on the chin. Anybody launching anything into the public domain should be prepared to do the same. Just because someone's "gone to the effort" to do something, doesn't make it great. But then again, don't mind me and my small-town attitude. I just don't see the bigger picture.
  11. No offence and understand that I'm fully supportive of any form of local Music review/promotion but seriously... some of the writing in that review is pretty woeful. It's not so much the ideas but rather the phrasing and syntax that is off-putting. Edit a bit before publishing. I would love to consult your site regularly to keep up with Aberdeen gigs but not if the reviews are all like that. 3/5
  12. kent duchaine? plays delta blues on a rickety looking guitar?
  13. Watched White Diamond last night. It's a documentary by Werner Herzog about a biologist/engineer/madman who builds a wee airship contraption to explore the rainforest canopy in Guyana. It's not as intense as Grizzly Man, it has a more laid back feel, but the imagery and soundtrack are pretty breathtaking. Without getting overly wanky about it... There's a brilliant little editing technique in this film. The people say their bit to the camera then there's a few awkard moments of silence before it cuts to the next scene. It's basically the director leaving in bits that would normally be left on the cutting room floor. It happens a lot and you feel as if you get to know the characters better by seeing their natural reactions to being filmed. Like one guy starts doing silly little mimes and another fidgets for a while then just starts saying whatever pops into his mind as if he's feeling pressured to continue talking.
  14. Phew... I was worried it was gonna be me who took it one step too far.
  15. yeh, this thread isn't going anywhere with all these puns. You could even say it's become stationary.
  16. Pens are the best friends you can have!
  17. I just bought FIFA09 for the PS3. The be a pro mode is brilliant but frustrating if your team members are all shit (I'm centre midfielding for the dandies). Just started really but already loving it. Glad to see EA raising their game. Shall be up for some online action as soon as I figure out how it works and as soon as I get used to square being lob and circle being shoot (or is it the other way round? PES habits die hard!).
  18. I just did your survey. Coincidentally I was just reading an article about a new chick lit genre in Japan. here's the link Letter from Japan: I ♥ Novels: Reporting & Essays: The New Yorker Apparently loads of ordinary women are becoming best selling authors really quickly by writing novels from their mobile phones and posting them on specifically designed web sites. Because of the medium used, a unique style has developed. (japanese equivalent of txt spk, western left-to-right formatting, etc) The best books get published in print and it's become the number one selling genre. (just in case your interested)
  19. I was on Soccer AM once too. Me and some mates turned up at the snooker at the exhibition centre wearing 'Save Chip' T-shirts and the footage got featured on the show. Proudest moment of my life at the time. Got tons of free Soccer AM stuff too.
  20. It does look as though it's gonna spill over into violence at any moment. Or at least them nicking the camera.
  21. Dammit! I work tuesday nights!
  22. ha ha, lol, rofl, etc. That sounds like a bit of stand-up.
  23. I posted about this film a while back. It's a good watch but you're right, the guy is an utter numpty. Best bit of the film is when he's in Glasgow getting love advice from a couple of winos. Worth watching just for that bit of magic.
  24. Same here. Totally forgot about it untill it popped up again the other week and i had another little man-cry to myself. The way they get more and more hyped up with each shot tugs at heart strings i didnt even know i had.
