  1. Right, don't want to jinx it but, I'm waiting on Marseille winning tonight and i'll be 100 euros to the good. They are playing Besancon, a team playing in the equivalent of the conference so fingers crossed for a rout so I can breathe easy by half time. I put on a 5 euro accumulator with loads of 'sure things'... Rangers (sorry RossP), Man yoo, Villa plus PSG and other top flight french clubs playing in their FA cup.
  2. 3k?!?!? thats insane. good work! i couldnt face putting more than a tenner on i reckon. Nerves and the threat of addiction would be too much.
  3. that's still pretty good odds for the murray match id say. I think you do it the right way... i.e. little 'sure' bets. I get too carried away although i'm gutted I didnt put anything on murray winning from the start of the tournament. Coz I cant watch the darts, i've been leaving it alone although barney and the power does seem the logical choice so might go for it. As a side note... I once met Barney in a pub in Holland. I say 'met' but do of course mean 'was ignored by.' He was heavily drunk.
  4. good win for murray. how much did you get off that?
  5. but man city 2-0 down FA cup is never straight forward
  6. I know... who oh why!!! thankfully i left out stoke tho. Lower league teams tend to get nackered later in the game so there's still hope. You're still sitting pretty.
  7. not including prem sides playing each other. too risky.
  8. I've got an accumulator with all the prem sides plus derby to win. Fiver will get me bout 150 quid. ...im praying for no unibond bastard upsets.
  9. Nothing like a good old fashioned sticky floor debate!!
  10. The mere act of reading this thread at 4 in the morning on new years day indicates to me that my new year's resolution for 2009 should be to get a fucking life.
  11. I'm pretty sure its fake but it's a belter nonetheless. 'fill yer boots man' made me smile.

    Your current read?

looks good, thanks for the recommendation. currently reading 'The Google Story' - can't put it down, which is rare for straight forward, factual non-fiction. The guys who invented Google are utter legends. Why didn't I think of downloading the entire internet to my desktop in 1995?!?! Could have made a mint.

all six are on surfthechannel.com. I cant believe ITV made this... its actually funny. Brilliant script.
  14. That bad boy has been duly bookmarked. Ta.

  16. There's also a joy division documentary that came out this year. Not seen it but the reviews are very good. It kinda slipped under the radar i think. Amazon.com: Joy Division (The Miriam Collection): Tony Wilson, Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook, Stephen Morris, Peter Saville, Martin Hannett, Annik Honoré, Malcolm Whitehead, Lindsay Reade, Grant Gee: Movies & TV
  17. watched 3 films in a row last night. 1. The Happening = worst script ever! a truly awful film in every way. i stuck it out to see if there was a twist but it never came. 2. Man On Wire = a must see for any tight rope walker I would imagine but anyone else will just find it tedious, like me. An annoyingly pretentious talking heads wank fest of a film. 3. Slumdog Millionaire = Fucking brilliant! The pitch must have been a bit odd... ('Bollywood meets Chris Tarrant') but it is perfectly paced and really engrossing. It is definitely one of my favourite films of this year.

    No Heroics

this one totally passed me by. cheers. rewatched nathan barley recently... its already aged a bit which is unbelievable considering how spot on it was when it came out. The 'idiots' idea still applies, they are just dressed differently now.
  19. bolton v portsmouth was always gonna be a risk. The two most inconsistent sides in the league. Both amazing when they want to be but can be equally shambolic.
  20. He looks like that bird from Big Brother who now does porn, but with Guitar Hero stickers on her face.
  21. Another one... the whole 'management-speak' phenomenon...or whatever it's called. I thought it was just an exaggeration of what was only really present in corporate America untill I handed in my C.V to a temp agency to be welcomed with the sentence... 'Well we are really looking for someone who can "hit the ground running."' It was a bloody data entry job! I just thought to myself... 'Well I'm really looking for a receptionnist who doesn't have her head up her arse.' Bint!
  22. I hate that too. VIZ is a magazine that I absolutely love but get so annoyed every time I see a typo/mistake. There are at least 5 or 6 blatant ones every issue and I can't help thinking they just rush it out without doing a proper job. It's nothing major but... come on, sort it out. You've got a whole month to edit the thing! The over-use of the word 'like' is one of my pet hates. We're almost all guilty of it but teenage girls seem to be the worst offenders. Take a breath between sentences and think about what you're saying!
  23. That is a brilliant story. I can totally picture it. Nothing more frustrating than a club-footed lummox living out his Roy of the Rovers fantasy when a simple pass would suffice. I remember playing for my school team and one of our players getting booked for accidentally planting an ice cold, pumped-to-fuck Mitre Cosmic square in the ref's fizog. He was knocked out for ages, eventually got up and brandished the card. I think it was a reflex more than anything else, he was still stottering about. Our reaction was just 'well... it was completely accidental but fair enough, you did almost take his head off. let's not argue with the poor guy.'
  24. can't beat a bit of slapstick... makes me chuckle every time.
