  1. The albums growing on me and Manhattan, Crawl and Revelry are brilliant. I do still yearn for the unpolished clanking and yelping of their first two albums, Trani from the first album remains the best thing they've ever done. P.S. I further the motion that Band Of Horses are amazing.
  2. Come to Cineworld instead, we're proper cunts and we don't even show good films.
  3. This is definitely true and not just what strippers say to make the men participating feel better about themselves
  4. Watched Pineapple Express the other week, fairly amusing in places and worth it for the line about Godspeed You, Black Emperor and The Shins (if only for a self-satisfied chuckle amongst people familiar with the bands). Far too many action scenes that bordered on wacky though and not enough of the genuinely realistic and great dialogue that was in Superbad.
  5. Listen to some Spacehog. Pure unashamed Pop-Rock genius, mainly known for the lead singer being married (now divorced) to Liv Tyler, totally under-rated. In The Meantime is an epic slice of riffed-up pop balladeering. And as previously mentioned, Teenage Fanclub are amazing, been listening to Bandwagonesque today and it's blissful.
  6. The Palm Court definitely have Sky and put the big screen up for big games, but it's never really felt the same since they did it up. Looks incredibly nice inside but I miss the more 'pub' feel.
  7. I got an amazing 1970's electric organ for a tenner from Thainstone once, it either eventually packed in or I had to sell it for lack of space, I can't remember, but it was a beauty.
  8. Holy shit, some of these gigs look great, it's a good idea having these gigs spread out around the smaller parts of Scotland. Did I totally miss a thread about Hot Chip @ The Forum or was there not one, I'm surprised I haven't heard anyone mention that what with the Forum being a pretty small venue and Hot Chip being pretty huge. Malcolm Middelton, Laura Marling and Beans is an awesome line-up. I assume Beans is doing a DJ set?

  10. Ditto on Belle and Sebastian and Teenage Fanclub. Good shouts on the list with Camera Obscura and Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan, also I actually really liked that Travis song you've got on there, Travis are admitedly very MOR pop-rock nowadays (arguably always were) but that song was a bit of a momentary shining light, even if it was just an attempt to write a B&S song.
  11. You haven't read the 'If you're feeling sinister' one have you? I was toying with buying it but having already read the rather fantastic 'This is just a modern rock story' biography by Paul Whitelaw, I'm not sure if it's going to really offer me anything I don't already know.
  12. Swimming pools Large Ball Pits Getting lost in supermarkets Vampires Other children Edit - I forgot Sloth from The Goonies, who's idea was it to have something that terrifying in a kids film? Nobody thinks about it now as it's a 'retro cult' film and it looks funny, but if you actually saw the film as a kid he's genuinely scary.
  13. Ah balls, I assume the Hot Club show is still a goer?
  14. I wish he'd chuck a couple of quid Ayrs way after the fucking fiasco trying to sell Somerset Park.
  15. - I got a letter yesterday saying I didn't fail a university resit which I was convinced I'd ballsed up, meaning I now have a degree. - I'm going to a wedding in the French alps that I've managed to turn into a 5 day holiday. - I'm about to have a nice lunch in a pub.
  16. Agreed. I'm flying out there in a fortnight for a wedding just across the French border and I'm planning to at least try and get a day in Geneva before driving across.
  17. You were lying on the floor during The Brand New Heavies set, you had heavily pissed yourself and seemed to be inexplicably screaming the lyrics to 'Private Number' by 911. Hope that helps fill in the blanks. (This isn't actually true, but the danger of this thread is that if you genuinely don't remember what you were doing, you could have done something awful which could end up being revealed on a public forum).
  18. Having spent a lot of time staying in Glasgow over the last year and a half I could quite happily relocate there. If we're talking dream locations I would go with either Stockholm, Helsinki or Chamonix in the French alps.
  19. Bingo, this one's my favourite so far. Dear Catastrophe-era B&S style piano with some thrashing drums underneath, quality.
  20. Teenage Fanclub - Bandwagonesque Felt - Stains on a Decade
  21. As an Ayr fan I was disapointed, however I think the game had the potential to be a bit of a slaying from Aberdeen but I think it was a fairly valiant effort from AU, so not completely gutted.
  22. Unfortunately Stripey is currently banned, so he cannot come back to display his slapdash knowledge of mental health in his usual disgusting manner.
  23. Thats the best way to do things. When I was about fourteen my band at the time would record in a living room with bits of a broken drum kit, a couple of practice amps and a microphone taped to a mop handle through a karaoke machine onto cassette. It sounded fucking awful (partly due to the songs being fucking awful) and I think you could hear Richard and Judy on the TV in the background on quite a few of the tracks, but it had soul!
  24. Ayr could have been sitting at the top of the table 2 points clear if it wasn't for that penalty. 2 goals from Prunty in the first fifteen minutes as well, and apparently hit the bar twice, definitely signing of the season so far. I'll still happily take joint-top at the moment, promotion doesn't seem anywhere near as distant as it did last season. I'm actually starting to think if Prunty and Stevenson are both on form on Wednesday, we might have a bit of an outside chance in the cup game against Aberdeen.
