  1. Just had another listen and this song really is brilliant, it's pretty much impossible to listen to it without ferociously stamping your foot. I did love the kind of stuff they did on Takk but they did it so well on that album they'd have trouble doing something fresh with that style of stuff. This sounds like it could be a rather brilliant 'summer album'.
  2. I liked that. Certainly very different from the stuff on Takk, reminded me of a more ambient Animal Collective in places.
  3. I agree it was definitely the weakest series, but I still think if it had been the first series of Peep Show it would have got a much better reaction. I'd still rather watch a bad episode of Peep Show than a 'good' episode of the Catherine Tate Show.
  4. Well yeh, two people pointed it out on an internet forum in Aberdeen, not exactly a scathing Guardian Arts review, but I'm sure you're right.
  5. Ayr Utd thumping Ross County 4-2 away (and being 3-0 up at half time). Ryan Stevenson's absolutely immense goal against Alloa in the 86th minute to win 2-0. Scotland beating France. Man Utd's win over Chelsea and seeing John Terry crying after slipping on the penalty spot and seeing Hargreaves slowly transform into the world's angriest man during the game.
  6. There is an upsetting amount of Ranger's fans in Ayr, if it's not them it's Killie. They should be at Somerset Park watching Ayr Utd play real football!
  7. Ben and Jerry's cookie dough ice cream and caramel sauce. I'd been serving it all day at work and decided I fancied one when I finished but it was a bit too much and became pretty sickly and I don't have much of a sweet tooth. However the first third of it was pretty good and it was cheap because I get a discount so I'll call it a 6.5/10.
  8. As a concept that video could have been really cheesy but it's actually amazing. The song has really grown on me as well. As for Weezer as a band, the fact they wrote The Blue Album and Pinkerton pretty much negates anything bad they have ever done for me. If you've written albums as good as those two you can do whatever you want.
  9. The most recent episode wasn't my favourite of this series but overall it's been a total return to form. I think the reason people had a go at the last series was because of the high standard of the previous ones. The best thing about Peep Show is it's ability to stray into utterly farcical situations but still keep it belivable because of the quality of the writing. The fact they made burning and eating a dead dog actually seem like a situation that could arise in your life is testament to it's brilliance.
  10. My playlist for my recent period of essay writing has consisted mainly of Death Cab For Cutie - Narrow Stairs Goldfrapp - Seventh Tree/Felt Mountain Grandaddy - Sumday Belle and Sebastian - Dear Catastrophe Waitress The Concretes - Hey Trouble!
  11. Good stuff, I really liked the group rendition of the trumpet part from 'She's Losing It'!
  12. Tell me about it, if it's not Rangers it's fucking Killie. It's a sad state of affairs when Ayr are the third most supported team in Ayr (if that). It'll be fucking beautiful if Ayr manage to beat Ranger's at Harkness testimonial, I will be looking for the four horseman of the apocalypse if it happens but I'll be so happy I won't be bothered. Seeing John Terry not only fluffing the penalty but starting to cry as well was almost as satisfying as Man Utd winning. Great game though, could have gone either way but I think Man Utd just held it together better. Van Der Sar looked vastly more prepared than Cech before the penalties, the fact that Giggs put in Man Utd's last penalty just made it for me as well. Also, does anyone else find it difficult to believe John Terry is only 27? He looks about 40.
  13. I'm quite taken a back that I'm one of the few men who responded to this thread without having a go at women or making an 'ironic' laddy joke and you've picked up negatively on something I've said, but fair enough! At no point was I suggesting that all sexually forward women are going to cheat, I was using sexually forward to mean women who regularly display their sexuality much in the same way your stereotypical 'lad' will. I realise some people would use sexually forward in place of sexually liberated, so you might have misunderstood. My point was that there is an incongruity in the way many 'macho' men expect women to act with them sexually, and their outrage when they cheat on them. If you actually read the sentence before the point you've picked up on, you'll realise we're both saying pretty much the same thing. Still you made a lot of good points, I completely agree. Haha! It was worse when the galleries were still a novelty and a couple of unsuspecting new female users innocently put pictures up. Some of the comments were a true shudderfest. (Yeh I just used the word 'shudderfest')
  14. All women are not 'bitches' or 'whores'. In fact, think of almost any horrible incident you've ever heard of be it infidelity, murder, rape, violence, robbery or just someone acting like a dick and tally up how many times women were the culprit and how many times they were men. It's not about gender it's about some people just being scum. Men are just more outraged when women are the culprits are there's some kind of subconscious idea of male hegemony. Most men seem all too happy to meet a sexually forward and 'easy' girl, yet are suprised when they cheat on them. Why is a girl who cheats on a guy a slut, whilst adulterous men are afforded much higher status? (This isn't me just having a go at the original poster by the way, I fully empathise and you're better off without her, just don't make it a gender thing).
  15. That is fucking terrifying. It's like a scene from some twisted horror film set in Victorian London. When did Pete Doherty start talking like Alf Garnett? 'Oh my Gawwwwd'.
  16. Hopefully they're so downtrodden by that point that Ayr beat them at Davie Harkness testimonial.
  17. Most people would just find a pub to watch the game in after the screen broke down...they bottled the screen and battered Police. What poor bastard electrician got the call to come and fix that?
  18. I don't think you can make assumptions on a very large group based on one dodgy Australian end of news fluff piece! I think the charging for photographs is brilliant, what kind of moron goes up and takes pictures of people because of how they're dressed, it's not Disneyland.
  19. Heard this the other day, I'd liked the singles but wasn't sure if the album was going to be up to much but I was very pleasantly surprised, it's actually a really intelligent and pretty special album. The combination of hip-hop and glitchy electronics is brilliant.
  20. We certainly do at Cineworld. I say 'we', if it was up to me they wouldn't because it ruins a lot of quiet Wednesday shifts. It's a pretty good deal for the customer though, as cinema prices go. I'd assume they do it at Vue as well as it would be a pretty slow Wednesday for them if they didn't. Not sure about The Belmont.
  21. I don't really understand how you could view Narrow Stairs as being more classicaly commerical than Plans? The production is unpolished and recorded on tape and primarily live and some of the songs have several unwieldy long instrumental passages. The lead single was like 8 minutes long and the first 4 minutes is completely instrumental, it's not exactly Crooked Teeth. Long Division and Cath would fit well on The Photo Album I think. I think DCFC were pretty much at a cross-roads before this album came out, they could have gone down two paths and I'm glad they picked this one.
  22. The one that Alex Zane did was pretty funny (I'm aware Alex Zane and 'funny' in the same sentence sounds wrong). He set up a Mastermind style game show and then kept telling them they were wrong, to the understandable annoyance of the guests. Particularly the old boy who was an Anne Frank expert and totally lost it. I also liked the the Poirot one ZANE: What was the only Poirot novel to have the word lesbian in it CONTESTANT: Murder on the Orient Express ZANE: No, it was Poirot and the Lesbians. Other than that and Militant Black Guy it is total gash. I wouldn't blink if it was never aired again.
  23. This is utterly brilliant, I've liked pretty much everything they've done but this one's on a new level I think. Anyone who wrote them off as an OC soundtrack band should listen again.
  24. Really? Reads like a pretty straightforward opinion. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt though seeing as 'uneducated equals dirty' doesn't really seem like the kind of opinion I'd expect you to have.
