  1. Is it some kind of Thor tag game? Do I get to keep the hammer?
  2. Fucksocks, knew there was something I was supposed to leave down at Drakes on Saturday. .gif okay? Can drop it off at Drakes or email it, which would ya prefer?
  3. Well, despite the ear-bleedingly overly loud sound I thought everyone in the first show responded really well to Wire. The reviewer was obviously in the second show, which was (if I remember correctly) over an hour late and had forced many Wire fans to stand up stairs waiting missing most of The Liars in the process. Never the best thing to do to help an audience's mood.
  4. Sigur Ros are ace, I need only the slightest of excuses to play them in the chill out room on Fridays in Moshulu. Mm are worth mentioning too, if you're digging the Icelandic experimental vibe.
  5. My mistake, I'd actually seen it on the website not the brochure.
  6. Well, it was but Lach wasn't on the list - He was added last minute (as in that very day) when AKA The Fox had to pull out. I wouldn't have known about it unless I'd happened to notice Alan's post that started this thread.
  7. How fantastic was that? All the bands were top notch, enjoyed everyone immensely, but I can't lie and say I was there for any other reason than Lach. That was one of the best vibes and atmospheres I've seen at a Lemon Tree gig ever (not only for Lach, but he did get a fair number of people singing!). Lach was superb, great songs and a dead nice bloke to boot. Magic.
  8. Woo! I'll see you there, Mr. Cynic! What a bright Sunday this is turning out to be!
  9. Well, I would... but I'm going to go see him at the Truck Records festival just outside Oxford in July instead Woo, saved the embarrassment of looking like a FYC fan! Plus Thomas Truax, Simple Kid and Chris TT are playing, to name but three other reasons. The five days after that I'll be at the Cambridge Folk Festival!
  10. PWEI - Beaver Patrol Carter USM - This Is How It Feels Low - You Are My Sunshine Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds - In The Ghetto AFI - Halloween Motormark - Suspicious Minds Guitar Wolf - Summertime Blues Revolting Cocks - Do You Think I'm Sexy Johnny Cash - The Mercy Seat But probably my most favourite cover ever: The Gourds - Gin and Juice
  11. Any word on a Kirby gig in Aberdeen in the near future?
  12. They do really lush layered dark soundscapes, pretty much like the intro and background ambience of your track. The kind of thing that creeps under your skin and is really atmosphere rich. They co-wrote the incidental music to Underworld, although that's hardly a thing to be proud of
  13. Yeah, it's richly dark indeed - Reminds me of Lustmord in the intro. I like it!
  14. 'Woo' and (if I may be so bold as to add) 'yay'. Had a fun night, loved Le Reno Amps, first time I've actually managed to see them live and now I'm kicking myself for not doing so sooner. I always find lyrics go over my head at gigs, too much else happening to focus on what's being sung - Chris TT last week and Le Reno Amps last night are two rare examples for me of when the song writing really stood out and pushed the lyrics to the front. Thee Execution Of... I slipped between liking a lot, and being fairly ambivalent to. I wish I'd been able to make out more of how the vocals were supposed to sound, but the female vocalist was either having bad sound problems or just randomly changes volume at will. Maybe I was a tad not-in-the-mood for them, as I'd really come down for the Amps and Real Shocks. So yar, first time I'd seen the Real Shocks (or even heard them) and in my half-tired state (it was well past my bedtime) they kicked me awake again. Sweet, relentless glam rock'n'roll with a nice bubblegum kick. I wasn't too sure if the sound was muffled, as I was up on the balcony, but never the less I thought it was great. Some nifty DJ-foo, too! So I had a fun night. Ta Planet Boo!
  15. Is it just coincidence that it's got the same syllable rhythm as "Samurai Pizza Cats"?
  16. My initial thought upon seeing the site was "Holy shit, some suit has decided to see what the kids are 'down' with!"
  17. A friend pointed out this Conservative Punk website which is apparently aimed at redressing the balance between left field radical punk and conservatism in today's youth. Thoughts? (Requires reading, but I found it... interesting).
  18. Yar, the Fishtank sessions are amazing. Was listening to Low's Trust album last night, hadn't sat down uninterrupted with that album in a good while. Blimey, all these people from Aberdeen that have been at the Barras NC gig - I saw no-one I knew at the time!
  19. Keeping it hidden in a thread about Low, shame on you But yeah, I read it in the Low thread too. Muchos happy, NC&TBS are my favouritest band ever in the whole wide world.
