  1. Consider this advanced warning, DHR's two newest signings play Aberdeen on Saturday the 25th September, Moshulu Main Room. PANIC DHH - Alec Empire's guitarist, Robbie Furze's band have attracted multiple storming reviews off the back of their debut album. The ferocity and intensity of their album is doubled live, as the band proved without doubt on their recent tour with industrial legends KMFDM. MOTORMARK - Fife two-peice who've come a long way, baby. Support from Ladytron and Peaches, they have an accessible pop-edge but, as their debut album Pop:Up proved, they know how to make a noise too. It's no surprise to see them releasing both a single (September) and album (October) on DHR and if the sneak peeks are anything to go by, they've ramped up the live show all the way past 11.
  2. Any idea what time you guys are on, Rob? I have a squillion places to try and be, but I definitely don't want to miss Karloff...
  3. Dedalus are super-special-wonderful. Their split EP with Politik is out now, Gary! YMSS I think clashed with something I wanted to see, can't remember who - I popped in for 10 - 15 minutes worth of YMSS, but was there for all of Redjetson.
  4. I saw both bands at Truck this year, and they were pretty damn special. Highly recommended!
  5. Yumi Yumi? We tried to get them a few dates sorted with Motormark and The Kitchen, but one thing and another meant it couldn't go ahead. Then Motormark disappeared to record their new album and The Kitchen have split from doing live shows. We have to get Yumi Yumi back up north, definately. Another Japanese band will be returning to our shores very soon...
  6. Oooh, I still need to send you a track listing for that. The Dirty Hospital remix is superb! It's been on my playlist constantly!
  7. Yep, it's sad... We've spent a long time together, us and you, but there comes a time when every couple must move on. You treated us the best. Sure, we had a few little niggles, one or two nights when things just ran on. But at the end of the night we all left smiling. Just remember, it's not you, it's us. We've changed so much, come on so far in two years. We respect everything you do, and know that without us you'll still be strong, the best with what you do. And we'll come back, we'll bring people to see you. We'll bring the music and you provide the beer, just like the good old days. We've not found anyone else, it's not like we've been cheating, we'll be as lost as you. But, you'll still have the seven nights a week of live bands, we'll just have a clutch of CDs that will always remind us of you... Thanks Dr Drakes, you've been the best. We'll both survive this, we'll get strong again. And although you may see us with another venue sometime in the near future, we'll always be thinking of you. Love, Elizium. LAST TWO ELIZIUMs AT DR DRAKES - SATURDAY THE 7th AND 21st, 11pm till 3AM. The alternative's alternative.
  8. That's right, only two more Elizium nights before we leave out spiritual home of two years! So, if you've always fancied popping down to see what it's all about, you have two final opportunities... Saturday the 7th and 21st of August, 11pm till 3am, Dr Drakes. Then we'll be taking a hiatus for a while, and return eventually in a new home (hopefully). We'd like to thank Drakes for letting us crash there for so long, and wish them the best with their continuing superb efforts to get so many top quality bands up to Aberdeen! Elizium, the alternative's alternative!
  9. Don't think so... They did get an Air session with that Galloway lad, a live set supporting Biffy Clyro. We're just trying to sort out a date, they should be up in September. Eyes peeled, and all that.
  10. Fife eletro-punk heros are set to release their new single on Alec Empire's DHR label! Didn't they do well? Check out Motormark's website to keep up to date on the news!
  11. Oooh that would be lurverly! Can we get Blanche?
  12. Yeah, I was awaiting a review by someone I knew the music taste of - I'd have listened to it today but I had to get to werk :/
  13. I saw Mono down in London when they played with Einsturzende Neubauten. I would shed more than tears to see them again, especially in Aberdeen!
  14. There was a fantastic interview with him in Sound On Sound ages ago, I can't remember the exact details but he can play a lot of instruments, most of which he seems to record into his computer via a shitty low-end computer microphone. The article went into a lot of depth about his ethos for producing tunes and into his record collection (of which he obviously samples shed loads). One of those rare moments I'm bitter I'm not an avid retainer of magazines.
  15. Domino Records still have the Lemon Tree date on their site, but have removed the King Tuts one - So I'm guessing it's still all go.
  16. Well, I can safely say there is no greater joy than walking down stairs in a foul mood to find your Low box set. I was almost weeping with joy when I saw it was raining, too. Two demo versions and a Wire cover later, and I was at work in a decidedly laid back mood. So now I've got 3 5/6ths CDs left to get me through the day. And my uni computer has a DVD drive. I think tonight's Chill Out room at Moshulu is going to be laden a bit thick with Low this evening, in honour...
  17. Woo! They're supporting on the whole tour, which is ace as for one reason or another I'm seeing Clinic in Oxford, not Aberdeen.
  18. It's this Saturday (the 17th). We'll be on from 11ish onwards
  19. Mebbe something like Hardlands, or Peatbog Faeries. Pumpin' tekno and breakneck fiddle riffs. Actually, I'm off to the Cambridge Folk Festival in a couple of weeks. I'll try and start a circle pit.
  20. Woo! Glad you enjoyed it - We had an odd evening from the DJ booth, but in the end we all left giggling. Come back again, y'all!
