  1. They were a last minute addition to a line-up for some promo night thing, so I don't think so. I heard they enjoyed it, though - But have you ever seen them _not_ enjoy a gig? ;D
  2. None in the last few years though, sadly. Aside from your good selves and Motormark, of course
  3. If I was in your shoes I'd be majorly fucked off too. I've not heard the whole story bar a text from Jenna to say that everyone left in a bad mood. Sorry to hear the experience was such a shambles, I know you guys always make the effort and I know how hard Jenna had worked to get you guys down there (and how much warning she'd given the venue over your stage show). It's a bind working at the Uni, as far as I understand it none of the venue sound crew staff are actually paid - They're volunteers (I assume trained) from the student pool, pretty much. But the union will not let anyone else use the equipment aside from these people. It's a shame, as it does hamper a lot of gigs and having been a regular visitor to St A's I was quite excited about Rock Soc putting on gigs and brightening up the otherwise trendy scene. For one reason or another it aint worked, obviously. Bugger.
  4. The sound engineers and thos in venue one have nothing to do with the university's Rock Soc. The only thing Rock Soc may have had anything to do with may have been the money. Was a total agreed in advance?
  5. Just been confirmed on Radio 2 as bollocks, Oasis are still playing.
  6. I'd much rather see OhGr, to be honest. Having heard a couple of tracks off the new album I'm not that excited about it's release, which is a shame as The Process was indeed a fooking ace album. But, if finances improve then I'll probably head down - After all, it is Skinny Puppy!
  7. Aye, got handed a flyer at the EN gig. Really tempted, but I'm not swayed by the new stuph.
  8. Oof. Immeasurably better than last time, and I was gobsmacked that time.
  9. Sure did! The recording is alright, pretty good as an official bootleg CD but maybe not that impressive to people who aren't die hard fans or who weren't there. I think the last encore isn't on the CD, which means no Ende Neu, but hey... They did a live hex they made 20 years ago on the record company that fucked them over, which is one of the many highlights - Five of them sitting cross legged across the front of the stage bashing out a metallic chime play-and-response kinda peice. EDIT - Mono supported, which was a great surprise!
  10. Was worth the journey, though, thoroughly. They recorded the concert live and sold limited amounts at the end of the gig!
  11. Don't suppose anyone else is venturing down to London this weekend for Einsturzende's only UK date this tour? Lemme know, we're off tomorrow and should have a small social group thing going on!
  12. But have you had as many people perform inside you?
  13. Aye, it was indeed Clint Mansell from PWEI - The link to Trent Reznor is that Clint was at the time based on the Nothing label.
  14. Yeah, that was an ace cover of the old Sisters of Mercy song
  15. I kinda half-liked them (although didn't own a lot of their stuph) but then they went very Depeche Modey - I can't remember the album title (The one with 'So Much Is Lost' on) which I kinda liked, but thought was at really odd angles to what they did previously. After that I always looked at them oddly.
  16. Ohh yeah, Run Lola Run is a fantastic soundtrack! I keep playing 'What A Difference A Day Makes" in the chill out room. Nice username, btw - Did you see Psydoll at Drakes last year?
  17. A date would probably help, Ross
  18. Re: Re: Re: Starfall... I've played them a couple of times, mainly remixes early on. I'd play Feurio! though, it rocks! I won't be DJ'ing the next two Eliziums, one on account of being in Switzerland and the other due to being in London seeing the mighty Neaubauten live! After that I'll gladly play you some if you ever make it along to Elizium! As a note, I've played EN in the chill out room at Moshulu - Mainly 'Total Eclipse Of The Sun" off 'Silence Is Sexy'.
  19. What, exactly, is your point? That having to move your mouse a little more often is somehow similar to one of the greatest biggest atrocities of modern times? If that's your idea of a similar situation then you really do need to start worrying about your priorities.
  20. I agree, all these people banging on about the changes are getting really dull now. The boards are always going to be as interesting as the people that post on them.
  21. Aye, totally. I maintain there's no bad styles of music, only varying quality of artists.
  22. I agree too, people should take a band on it's own merits. But as long as people are doing that then I see no problem with genre labels.
  23. Re: Re: Starfall... Labels are just descriptors. They are useful for, in a matter of two or three words, giving someone else an idea of what type of music a band is. Much like you guys describe yourself as a rock band but clarify you're not indie-cool. What I absolutley object to are people that use labels to instantly dismiss a band when they've not heard them. Like the current stigma of being described an 'emo' band, for example, or the fear that the word 'goth' instills upon the majority of the music listening population But yeah, I totally agree with the sentiment - Judge a band by it's merits not it's associated sound - But everyone uses labels to describe music or anything else. It may be lazy, but it's an integral part of the way we use language.
