  1. On sale from the 12th of June, 9am. I've not been to the academy, but the Barras NC&TBS gig a few years back was amazing.
  2. Definately, Ross. I'll be going with bells on! Think Nathan will be up for it, too. Possibly Jenna. I'll check and grab tickets as soon as we can. BUT, no Blixa! Still, will be interesting to see who they've replaced him with...
  3. Which brings us back to the suggestiong that anything that doesn't result in procreation shouldn't be enjoyable, otherwise your positive encouragement cycle would promote the sticking of knobs into anything that felt good. Plus it doesn't answer why women have orgasms. Surely just arousal and getting wet would be sufficient, why waste a whole system of nerves and complex interactions on something that has no bearing on procreation?
  4. Nice links, don't know why I focussed in on 'wankers'. Must be something subliminal.
  5. I beg to differ - nature exhibits dead end genetic paths all the time, sterility through inbreeding for example. And humans aren't the only animal to display same-sex coupling. There is an argument that suggests homosexuality in a population is a way of controlling it's proliferation. Sexual urges and desires are natural, if they can be fulfilled in an non-reproductive way then you satisfy the natural urge without increasing the population. If it's unnatural, then why is it so prevelant in the animal kingdom, too? species..........................percent homosexual..percent bisexual..percent heterosexual silver gulls (females).....................10.........................11..........................79 black headed gulls (both sexes)......22.........................15..........................63 Japanese macaques (both sexes)....9..........................56..........................35 bonobo chimpanzees (both sexes)...0.........................100..........................0 galahs (both sexes).......................44........................11...........................44 source: Bruce Bahemihl, Ph.D., Biological Exhuberance: Animal Homosexuality and Natural Diversity, St. Martin's Press, 2000, page 35 Bonobo chimps seem to exhibit 'any port in a storm' mentality. Bless. EDIT - Sorry I'm so shit at making tables look good
  6. Yeah, I was reading that. Even the authors themselves are keen to stress they don't think there's evidence of an infidelity gene so the BBC News title is kind of misleading. They do summarise that "...genes alone did not determine whether somebody was likely to be unfaithful - much was down to social factors. " I'd be very interested in reading the original publication, Spector himself is more known for his work in bone biology than psychology though, but I can't seem to find it anywhere.
  7. When what I should have said was something more like: As a counter point, without the social pressure and fear of retribution would more people experiment with their sexuality? If there was no stigma to being gay would people worry over who gave them a blow job? This issue's far too complicated to pin on just one cause, my knee-jerk rant was against the ludicrous idea that people should be viewed as genetic freaks because of who they sleep with.
  8. Err, stop me if this is really anally retentive, but it's Yumi Yumi not Yummi Yummi.
  9. Thanks Rob! You are like a stream of bat piss... ... I merely mean you shine out like a ray of gold when all around is dark.
  10. Superb, absolutely superb. How tight was the band? A dolphin's butt could learn a lesson or two, I tell ya. Lyrically spot on - I can't remember the last time I went to a gig and grinned so much at just the words alone. Thanks Drakes!
  11. I had a fun night, sorry for knocking off early though - Douglas Benford's a top bloke, had a good natter to him at the bar - The DJ set was fun, I only wish I wasn't so tired I may have enjoyed it even more!
  12. Tabula Rasa is being reissued next month, too! A double CD uber-package. I think you can buy it in advance of the official release date from the Mute website. I heard about the CSI thing as well, my flat mate recognised it was them but couldn't isolate the track.
  13. I have no idea, but I so want that to be true! The new Panic DHH album is far from safe and boring, though - A much recommended listening for anyone who digs that DHR swing.
  14. I personally don't find labels affect what I buy, so I don't mind labels at all Thinking about it, DHR have self-labelled their own genre, pretty much how Industrial Records started off the industrial tag. I've not heard any other band get referred to as DH that's not been on DHR yet, though - Anyone else?
  15. EN are rereleasing their early recordings in June, from what I've got it could be a winner.
  16. Einsturzende Neubauten rock my world and were fantastic live in London this year. Pretty much all the others I rate have been mentioned! Typical, though - I bugger off for a few days and come back half way through a decent industrial thread I'd add in (if they've not been said already) TG, RevCo, Swans, Thrill Kill Kult, Cubanate, Snog, Pigface, CNN, Young Gods, Sheep On Drugs, Nitzer Ebb, Die Krupps, Nerve, Strapping Young Lad and KMFDM. One thing I do notice is most of the bands mentioned are reasonably old (nae a bad thing, just odd). So anyone got any newer industrial bands to recommend? The obvious (to me, anyways) is OhGr, I guess. Panic DHH sound very Industrial to my ears, but does DHR qualify as Industrial? *coffcoff* Elizium's been playing a lot of industrial over the last few months...
  17. I'm out of blanks too, will pick some up whence I return and be in touch next week! Ta!
  18. Wanna swap for a bootleg of Motormark at Drakes (including a remix by some local bloke who should pull his finger out and do more stuph, Gerp Con One) ?
  19. Nifty, I was just having a poke around to see if there was any news of an album. Thanks lotsly, I'll PM you soon! (Hopefully next week, for the 28th).
