  1. Firewater - Too Much (Is Never Enough)
  2. They played the last one and advertised it locally, but the Scottish dates were co-ordinated by a lass in Edinburgh.
  3. Goddamn, I've just read this now and I was only talking to Hen fae The Tunnels but ten minutes ago.
  4. Fantastic band, great songs and a great deal of fun live too
  5. Sweet! Last time I saw him was at the Camrbidge Folk Festival. He spent the majority of his set strumming his guitar and saying 'Yeah... yeah... can you turn it down a bit in the monitor..." The rest of the set was spent talking to an old neighbour of his in the audience. I don't remember either of those from any of his albums, but I'm always open to a set filled with b-sides.
  6. Grinderman - Grinderman Arcade Fire - Neon Bible Pigface - A New High I Low Explosions In The Sky - All Of A Sudden I Miss Everyone Foetus - Love MC Lars - The Graduate The Besnard Lakes - ... Are The Dark Horse Dead Brothers - Wunderkammer The Decemberists - The Crane Wife Tindersticks - Waiting For The Moon Nitzer Ebb - Body Of Work
  7. *rears his ugly head* Oh hi! I'll be checking these guys out when I get home!
  8. I'm engrossed in this game at the moment, thoroughly love the style. Agreed the unskippable dialogue gets annoying, but after an hour I'm in a zen like trance. Pity all my circles still look like melting eggs, but hey they seem to work...
  9. The moon is in the seventh house and Jupiter aligns with Mars, thus the Elizium seers have deemed the stars suitably aligned for an attempted invocation of the Combination Christ. Will the Eliziumite magic work or will we succumb to the evil machinations of the daemon Apop'tyg Ma Berzerk? Find out by turning up at The Tunnels (Carnegie Brae) at 11pm on Sat 17th Feb! Who knows when the stars shall next be correct Compulsory collection of 3, service ends at 3am.
  10. Phwoar! I'll be catching them in Minehead at ATP, though - But still, score for Scotland. Have they ever played north of the border before?
  11. Jury is still out with me, too. Initially I thought it sounded a little bit backwards in terms of progression, and I was hoping for one or two of the more upbeat tracks from 'Greater Wrong...' It's like the way the OhGr albums went - The first was brilliant, amazing slice of industrial 'pop' if you will, but the second was a really odd quagmire of awkwardness. Mythmaker seems to follow that trend a bit... A few more listens before I fully commit an opinion, tho!

    So...

I'm still here. Hanging on. For another five years, at least.
  13. GAAAAH! Bloody Air France, overselling the flight by _at least_ 8 places on a 50 capacity flight meant I was stuck in the CDG airport Sheraton Hotel instead of being at this no doubt wonderful evening. My mood has not been helped by delays getting the flight home this morning. Hope all went well, that it was a blinder and that I wasn't missed *too* much
  14. Isn't the after-Christmas sales slump the perfect time for smaller bands / labels to score a number one? I seem to recall someone (perhaps a member of the One Up staff) explaining it to me a while ago - Need to sell less copies now than you normally would to score a number 1, so perfect territory for those with less exposure. Maybe. Don't quote me.
  15. Dear lord, no! They're the worst! I think I'm spoiled as far as festival audiences go, given I only ever attend Truck Fest and the Cambridge Folk Fest with any regularity - And I must say the crowd at both of those are superbly well behaved individuals. In general.
  16. Well, I'll be there for one Seriously though, are they really that bad? It's my first ATP and I'm only going due to the line-up, so can't be doing with an arsehole crowd impeding upon it.
  17. I don't think Kandy Pop made it into the top 40, but they were the first unsigned band to play TOTP. EDIT - Bit of research makes it all clear. Kandy Pop did make it in to the top 40, charted at number 25, but it was released they on Chemikal Underground. The TOTP performance was prior to being signed.
  18. Absolutely nae idea. Ask me in May.
  19. Anyone else going? The missus and I are off to this, and being a huge Einstuerzende Neubauten fan I was thrilled to see they'd been added to the line-up. Choice cuts include: Nick Cave (Solo) Grinderman (Nick Cave's new band) The Dirty Three (obviously) Low A Silver Mount Zion Bill Callahan (Smog) Josh T. Pearson Cat Power Joanna Newsom Yann Tiersen Alan Vega (Solo, Suicide) Einstuerzende Neubauten Line up so far is available here.
