  1. I wasn't aware of either magazine, but know of Mick Mercer quite well - Have seen several of his books on the goth scene, and our humble Elizium was featured in one of them too! Will have to check which one it is (I don't own a copy, unfortunately). I suppose the only decent modern alternative I can think of is Nemesis To Go, written by long-term (and well respected) promoter Uncle Nemesis. His 'zine is an online affair, but you can get it from - Nemesis To Go - Front page It's well worth a read
  2. I'm guessing the closest they'll get will be London. Unless... How much loose change have you got in your pocket? I *really* need to remember to loan Brian Fudge their earlier stuff.
  3. Sweet news indeed! Bloodshot seems a good home for them, too.
  4. Should be a great night! Also followed by Elizium from 11pm till 3am! That, surely, just makes it an even better night?
  5. Any Capdown gig ever in Kef, they'll always be my fondest memories. Seen 'em a heap of times in other places, but the Kef shows were always something special. Atom Flask, who i remember doing an amazing show in there too. Also, the Lashed nights were always a great atmosphere. Shame to see it go, although like a lot of folk, I aint been there in a long while.
  6. I bought the album on Monday, and haven't listened to it all the way through yet - Listened to the first couple of tracks a few times, though, so I suppose that bodes well. Did anyone follow Pete Murphy's solo career? I only really bought Cascades, which was a great album, but was far too smooth compared to Bauhaus to really be a classic for me. Am scared Go Away White will dissolve into similar the further I get through the album.
  7. I'll check and get back to you, but I doubt you'll have a problem!
  8. Industrial, alternative and some EBM thrown in!
  9. For those of you that missed our Hexmas shenanigans online, we're holding a second-stab at that 'radio' thing this evening. Tune in via ELIZIUM | NM4NP from 7.30pm (GMT) and listen to Elizium FM Featuring: DJs Jaymz, Fizzgig and myself from Elizium taking shifts on the decks and filling the breaks between records with WORDS, not disgruntled looks at each other as per usual. Plus, as a special bonus, we're including two special news bulletins, information on some upcoming events you won't want to miss and, if you're lucky, maybe even a real, proper competition this time around!
  10. No, carbon dating is well-known to be misunderstood by critics a lot of the time. Also, what physical evidence lines up with the bible? Also, which scientists use it as a guide for their research? I honestly have never met a scientist who uses the bible as any sort of guide for their research, and I work with a number of scientists who are devout Christians.
  11. Sweet! I now know why I couldn't get it to work using 24h, I'd not changed the "Total Hours" column to be formatted as 'Time' as well, so it was returning values of '23.17708' instead of 04:15. I also made the 'IF' clause more complicated than it needed to be
  12. I don't know how to do it using proper times, but if you express times as hours plus minutes as decimal (e.g. 21.00 would be 9:00pm, 1.25 would be 1:15am) then this should work: =((IF(C2<B2,C2+24,C2))-B2) Where B2 = Start time, C2 = End time, as per your screen shot. Obviously not ideal, but I don't know how to do it using actual times :/ I should say this works in Microsoft Excel, but should work in most spreadsheets - The IF formula is to adjust any times in am to be 24 hours greater than the pm start time, to allow subtraction to get the hours. This obviously assumes you don't work shifts of longer than 24h The second clause if the IF statement allows you to enter end times of before midnight the same day.
  13. Damn! Oh well, as long as they *do* reschedule!
  14. I'd agree with Dave, and would recommend their second self-titled album as the best starting place (featuring the band in black and white, dressed in hald-finished suits). "Can Our Love" is probably my least favourite, which is all relative given I don't think they've released a truly 'duff' album. "Working For The Man", their compilation album, is pretty damn good - Especially if you get the bonus disc version with the rarities and b-sides. It would give you a great taster, but when you find songs you like go get the original albums - there's a wealth of great music on pretty much all of them. Also, Stuart Staple's solo stuff is worth checking out too!
  15. I think 35 years of not progressing would be more of a sin than having a career that's matured and progressed. I absolutely adore Boatman's Call and No More Shall We Part, Nocturama sucked big-time, and Abattoir Blues / Lyre Of Orpheus grew exponentially on me. If I want to listen to crazed, manic early material I listen to one of the crazed, manic early albums. I find Mr. Cave's output to be unique in that I can find an album to fit generally any mood I'm in as a result. Grinderman confuses me, because the confident swagger displayed and lyrical confident scream out age-related crisis of identity, but having seen 'em live at ATP I've got to say it just *works* without seeming strained or forced, so I've become a convert. In addition, his 'solo' shows are rambunctious affairs that plough through the back-catalogue (way back as far as Birthday Party) and get back to the basics you might be missing - So I'd recommend checking one of those out if you get a chance, Stephen
  16. Cheers Sharon! I spent ages formatting his reply from the email, then forgot to post it! ;D
  17. Friday 1st of Feb at 9am, according to Drowned In Sound.
  18. I hope the sound is better than their last gig there, I thought it was atrocious.
  19. Ahh, the progressive decay of the Palace lighting rig... From tetchy, but copious lighting to one ring of christmas-tree lights and a few working cans. Every sin hidden by strobe. Magic. I had many fun Fridays getting mistaken for being the DJ. I'd managed to forget about YMCA, and now require to see pictures of our group humilation session. Also, I used to have a great picture of my friend and I at halloween in the Palace - Dressed as a pantomime horse in the middle of the dancefloor via the explosive part of Sabotage.
  20. Didn't know Clair Obscur were still on the go - C L A I R O B S C U R
