  1. <George Foreman> It's a gig so good, I put my name on it </George Foreman>
  2. I saw Felix Kubin supporting Les Georges Leningrad at their final ever show and he was, quite frankly, amazing! Live, his show was a schizophrenic blend of crazed tunes interspersed with body-grabbing beats and strange, eclectic improvs. Best thing is you could tell he was loving every minute of it, built up an incredible atmosphere before LGL came on! Can't recommend this one enough!
  3. Ha! Yeah, the DJ classic alongside dicking around with the pause in the middle of Sabotage and looping the start of Song 2 long enough for a toilet break or trip to the bar. I heard Intergalactic on Radio 2 (!!!) this evening, made a bet it would be on your list
  4. Well, I'll have Bonbon Babies stuck in my head all night after reading that ;D
  5. Aww man, I'm going to have to listen to "Suds and Soda" with a tear in my eye right now.
  6. A+ just for including Bentley Rhythm Ace!
  7. Go on, give us a bought of nostalgia and let us know the track listing of the compilation you've made
  8. Faith and the Muse! There's something I've not dug out of my collection in a while - Have definitely got their Annwyn Under The Waves album somewhere, plus I think I still have their first album too (Elysia?) Wasn't aware of Anima Mundi, but am enjoying the tracks on their website.
  9. This sums up my thoughts on the film quite well, so I'm going to quote it to reinforce it.
  10. That's the one, right there. I mean, the Mute night was amazing with The Liars and all, but the sheer joy of the Shack Shakers playing Aberdeen and being that close to the action all night - Superb.
  11. Wasn't a patch on the Dirty Three weekend, that's for sure - Lots of acts I wouldn't have normally rushed out to see this time around, but I enjoyed bouncing around seeing a lot of bands I knew nothing about. I definitely got my money's worth by the end, but must admit I didn't hold high-hopes for it being as good as it was.
  12. I had a suitably amazing time too! Found a few friends from the Ghost of Aberdeen Past littering the floor in front of the stages, as well as some current denziens like StewCat here! Portishead were obviously a highlight - but the new material is sounding really, really good. Some if it is very dark and nasty in that 'good' way. Other favourites were Crippled Black Mountain, Seasick Steve, A Hawk and a Hacksaw, Kling Klang, Autolux, Malcolm Middleton, GZA, Fuck Buttons and Boris. Aphex Twin's set on the Saturday night was really good, but driving early on Monday made me bail waaaay before his Sunday night set. Julian Cope's set was worth it for the last ten minutes worth of absolute insanity that tripped from his lips. Close behind Portishead as best of the weekend is John Cooper Clark - An absolute joy and incredibly engaging, a wonderful antidote to a day of heavy drone. Disappointments were Madlib (utterly pished), Rosie Red Rash (utterly gish), and whoever it was that did those minute-long karaoke adlibbed lyrics over a minidisc on random. Yeah, that guy with the overhead projector and the acetates who kept randomly switching between pictures of nobodies. Not the best.
  13. Cheers! Moshulu website says doors at 7pm, which is where I plucked that time from - But I presume 7.30pm is the definite, real time?
  14. Fangs told me they're on pretty sharp after 7 - But I doubt they know the exact times themselves yet. I'd going to turn up as close to 7 as poss as I want to see the supports too - Probably safest, unless someone more in the know has the actual stage times

    Aco

Sweet little video and song. The resulting YouTube foray it inspired uncovered this one by ACO too: Again, a great wee video and a collab with mm, whose most recent album has been keeping me entertained of late. Cheers Stripey, that's rounded off my Saturday nicely!
  16. Sweet! Caribou are one of my favourite live bands, so I'll be there!
  17. Will be along to this with bells on. Incidentally, Fangs are the ex-Motormark duo plus a live drummer - First time playing Aberdeen as the new band!
  18. I'm a scientist! I work in biological sciences! Bone research, currently. They don't call me Evil Dr. Al for nothing. Actually, only Rob Karloff calls me that but... y'know, that counts? On a more serious note, one of our senior lecturers in the Bone Group has always been interested in art and science colliding in a mash-up. I'm interested too. We should speak.
  19. Yeah I sent a PM through this site to ya, Gemz. A couple of weeks ago.
  20. You might be able to get those flimsy, white all-over boiler-suit like things from B&Q or similar - used for all over body-protection for messy painters. Crinkly and cheap looking, perfect for halloween.
  21. Elizium's mainly EBM and industrial, with a slap of futurepop. I'm away from home at the moment, but when I get back I'll check out Blaqk Audio when I get home in a week and fling some more informed suggestions your way. In the meantime, try the setlists on ELIZIUM | NM4NP and spend a wee while looking through Myspace with some of the names you see. Try Covenant, Apoptygma Berzerk, Icon Of Coil, VNV Nation, Faderheadz, Freezepop, Combichrist, Crisk and (my current favourite) Zombie Girl for a slice of what tends to comprise a 'peak' set for Elizium these days. Davey Havoc's been pictured many a time in music mags wearing Apoptygma Berzerk t-shirts, so maybe they're the best to start with?
  22. Close enough. He was in attendance too, sporting a fake moustache and a strangely dyed wig. At least I think it was a wig.
  23. It's excellent, yes! Very good call, thank you! That and the new Mm album have been on rotation since I got them, both superb albums.
