  1. And Son of Dave back again! Wicked. So many more gigs keep jumping out of that list.
  2. Some excellent gigs, score for Aberdeen! Why didn't I notice Tilly And The Wall are playing until now? Whoo!
  3. ELIZIUM - this Saturday at The Pelican, Market Street. 10.30pm till 3am. Upsetting goths since 1996. It's our Super Doomsday Megafun Special. F*ck knows what that means.
  4. Check out some previous playlists from Elizium: 05/07/06 30/06/06
  5. Motormark are playing with Trademark and Kill Baby... Kill at the Tunnels on Sunday the 24th of September. 8pm and 5. For more info click here!
  6. Did anyone see those four guys on horseback at the last Elizium? Y'know, the ones that turned up shortly after the blood, frogs, gnats, flies, hail and locusts? Freaked me out something rotten. And what was with that guy that wouldn't shut up about the return of this 'Jesus' fellow? Something about us all being judged one day soon. Is it just me, or can anyone else smell brimstone? ELIZIUM Super Doomsday Apocalypse Megafun Special It's written in many holy texts that the end of the world will be heralded by banging tunes from a subterranean location in the cold northern wildernesses. Some speak of a pair of DJs who accidentally play the Forbidden Tune, awakening the beast that will consume the whole world in one, giant gulp. Others say this is merely a rumour, and the Forbidden Tune will just cause mild gas. Either way, got me thinking... could Elizium survive even an accidental playing of this Forbidden Tune? THE PELICAN Market Street SATURDAY THE 2nd OF SEPTEMBER 10.30pm till 3am Sorry, just had Jaymz Elizium on the phone. Apparently, he was out shopping in Camden and found this sweet little brick-a-brack shop run by this elderly Chinese guy with a great beard. He's picked me up a mogwai, and got this free CD! Sweet, hope there's something good on it we can play at Elizium...
  7. I really do have to applaud the Lemon Tree for an excellent night - And all the acts involved that I caught. The two stage system worked exceptionally well, I thought - Full credit to Dave Dixon for making it flow so smoothly. Highlights were Billy Ely, Kill Baby... Kill and Tupelo Town Assembly. David Lynch must have had a nagging feeling he was missing something when TTA were playing, and Andy Bass really should sing more often.
  8. Enjoyed eeeet muchly. Nice to hear a new CoS song getting a sneaky play, too.
  9. And they've had to change Bumblebee... Bastards. Still, could have been worse. Could have been Rodimus Prime...
  10. Wicked, nice one Ross! This will be *immense* in the Barrowlands!
  11. Hello Sharon, fancy seeing you here? Up to much tomorrow night? I'm not. Actually, to hell with 'subtlety', either of those two guest list spaces still free?
  12. Clicky here to see details on Tom Wait's triple CD release coming out later this year. Looks pretty damn good, and something to look forward to.
  13. Super low quality resolution flyer, compensated for by the high quality of the line-up:
  14. Trademark, featuring Ollie from A Scholar And A Physician, will be playing The Tunnels in September. The link? ASAP are the producers for the forthcoming Chicks On Speed album. Check out the thread by clicking here! Sorry for the threadjack, but everyone come see CoS do their DJ thing - It's bound to be a fun night!

  16. Supplemental info on Trademark - Frontman Ollie is also one half of A Scholar And A Physician, who're producing Chicks On Speed's forthcoming album, as well as Anat Ben David's. ASAP were also Piney Gir's backing band during her electro-pop days!
  17. Synthpop pureness, fucked-up electropunk and sleazy disco kicks: TRADEMARK MOTORMARK KILL BABY... KILL Sunday the 24th of September THE TUNNELS 8pm / £5 TRADEMARK Sometimes when I close my eyes at night, I still see Trademark dressed in fluorescent-coloured lab coats releasing bright helium balloons through the crowds in a field outside Oxford, whilst the oscillating warble of their final track floats out. Something about the sight of two men holding aloft a giant Perspex plug whilst their frontman stares gleefully up at the balloons in the clear blue sky really encapsulates what Trademark are all about. Three men and an impressive array of synths, no guitars but an arsenal of songs that would make The Postal Service. Fischerspooner and the Pet Shop Boys gawp with admiration. They certainly caught the ears of The Human League, supporting them on twenty dates of their 2004 UK tour, and it’s live that they really shine. Fresh, uplifting and capable of mixing geekery with humour and emotion – Trademark’s first visit to Aberdeen is bound to be an event. http://www.trademark-online.co.uk http://www.myspace.com/trademarkonline MOTORMARK First memories of Motormark are a red dress and a dangerous man in a kilt, somewhere under the Castlegate. A freaked-out blast of sugary electro yelled over by Marko, slunk over by Jane. Weeks later, shaking from withdrawal symptoms we beg them back. We can never let them leave. The music gets darker, so do their clothes and hair, until the red dress is long forgotten. Marko still shouts. From cosy little line-ups to Digital Hardcore Records in what seems like a flash, we’ve seen their progress up close and personal all the way in Aberdeen: From acoustic DHR to PVC-clad Elvis impersonations, culminating in a secret strobe-lit gig with fifty panicked people thrown face-to-face with their edgy, visceral take on punk-rock. With a new album in the works, expect another jump in the evolution of this Tetris-raised boy / girl combo. http://www.motormark.net http://www.myspace.com/motormark KILL BABY... KILL Kill Baby… Kill punch hard and fast disco beats with driving synth lines, sleazed-out female vocals rolled over the top. Self-described as being like “a banshee with helium and an axe”, KB…K have been described by Radio 1’s Gill Mills as “a dirty and beautiful noise” – A reputation that’s confirmed in their blistering live sets. http://www.myspace.com/killbabykilluk
  18. Happy birthday Bri! I said HAPPY BIRTHDAY! BRIAN! BRIAN! HAPPY... Oh for fuck sake, can someone make sure he's got his hearing aids turned on?
  19. I dunno, I'll be seeing them live at Truck Festival in just over a week so the chance to pop along for something different in Aberdeen appeals.
  20. Hell yeah! Alec Empire and Nic Endo played Moshulu last October.
  21. Yep, Elizium's back at the end of this month - Full details can be found here!
