I just realised I've missed out two of the most positive things I've done this year. I started training in Hung Ga Kung Fu during the summer after a few years away from martial arts (and any kind of fitness regime whatsoever) and I quit smoking. Well I say quit' date=' I've had a few lapses lately while drunk but I havne't had a sober cigarette since April. Healthwise I feel better than I have done for years, just wish this gut would go away![/quote']

mm.guts.

Is hung ga kung fu throat grabbing?

I'm being sent to chile as a kill bill assasin, and i might need your expertise.

2004...

started quite averagely.

hit 21, spent it in Aberdeen, away from home so i wouldn't get drunk/go on a total bender.(only had one beer... thanks Craig from Quik).

Got my own house.

got about 3 pay rises.

didn't go to jail.

Craig From Quik stayed(though his friend broke my toilet and it flooded).

Holly came and stayed.

visited aberdeen again for a weekend.

broke up with long term g/f. this time its for real.

kissed a MILF.

cut my hair.

tried to put on weight and beef myself up... instead lost half a stone (WTF????).

erm.... its been a pretty boring year actually

Took in the new year in South Africa with family' date=' returned to mind numbing but well paid job, got made redundant from mind numbing but well paid job, hurrah, fucked off to Prague to recharge batteries, got another well paid job on short term contract, left job, got pissed, fucked off to Benicassim festival in Spain for a couple of weeks, got pissed again, lazed about for a while, decided to return to Uni for a year, met loads of new folk, studied hard, away to take fuckers at mind numbing but well paid job to court. Yas.[/quote']

Ah shite. I forgot to mention my one true highlight. I saw SMiLE.

* Formed Filthpact from the ashes of VOA in Feb 04 and have since played 26 gigs across Europe and sold over 400 cds and 300 7"s, drank way too much beer and smoked more grass than i care to imagine.

* Passed into 2nd year of Politics and management at RGU.

* Managed to keep a part time job and great girlfriend.

* Put on a lot of great gigs at Dr Drakes.

* Avoided getting a haircut.

this year's been ..............busy:

got married, then got divorced, currently seeing a great guy (humyum)

sold my flat, bought a big house

sold my dingy wee rustbucket car, bought a nice flash car ;)

been to see Marillion a few times (always good)

caught up with far too many people i'd lost contact with

made some great new friends, met some complete tossers

misjudged some people, those i thought were good friends stabbed me in the back......those i thought were tossers turned out to be nice!

had loads of new experiences, and am still standing at the end of it!

drank far too much (but i have stopped smoking)

going to stay with my friend, the lovely toothfaery, over chrimbo, going away for new year, then i suppose i'll just potter around for the first few months of next year, see what comes my way!

either way, am looking forward to indulging my three favourite pastimes in the new year.......music, shopping (toothfaery taught me all she knows ;) ) and men!

looking forward to meeting new people, having new experiences, and sharing lots of fun and laughter with those lucky people who will be in my company!

Been quite a year. The band got going, recorded a CD and played a gig or two. We lost our drummer, and found another. Lovely. Now I've lost my fucking guitarist!

I still have the world's easiest job as mental health support worker.

I started the year seeing two married women and have ended it still seeing a beautiful lass I met in June. Have also been to some great gigs, bought shitloads of noise and read a ton of books.

Year's highlight: Pars got to the Cup Final.

Bad points: (the usual) not enough money at the start of the year, women troubles, schoolwork, starting uni and a part time job (no free time at end of the year)

Good points: having 3 months off after leaving school, having some of the best parties with my friends, going to Donington again, seen so many bands in general (Slipknot, Slayer, Metallica, Dream Theater, Joe Satriani, Rush, Electric Six, Sum 41, Hatebreed, The Hives, Machine Head, Breed 77, Mastodon, The Darkness, The Offspring....), most things before starting Uni

In general most of the year has been really great

Yeah, yeah, not the first time you've mentioned it on here. It's no big deal.

hmmm interesting reading.....

high points - leaving aberdeen to work full time in radio, maple finally getting their album done, getting my degree, writing me first songs in over four years, becoming a car driver again (f**k the expense its an evil necessity), beating ian christie at chess on numerous occasions

low points - the deaths of bruce kennedy (northsound DJ who i knew pretty well) and john peel, cambridge united managing to go from mid table fodder to relegation certs...

Interesting thread...

This year's been pretty amazing, some of the highlights include....

A little satisfaction I felt for a while with writing music.

Beating Joss (huntedbyafreak) at chess (3-0)

Discovering the wonders of LSD, a truely eye opening experience

Late night/early morning visits to story book glen

Amazing gigs

Go North aftershow party

T in the Park

Seeing different cities

Drinking with Stuart Maxwell in Glasgow

Sitting in the woods late night/early morning around a fire with friends

Everything GOFONES have acheived this year

Some things are too personal to mention, there's been a few unpleasant but worthwhile experiences aswell.

Hope to make more of next year......

This year?

The good:

Stable employment with moronic amounts of overtime at a whim. 14-hour shifts? Why not?

A smashing lady without the usual irritating traits,

Animating. Lots of it,

Bought my own place,

Clearing debt, gradually,

Got a cunting haircut,

The realisation that pot does indeed make you as thick as Paris Hilton,

A smashing myriad of friends.

The bad:

Lack of sleep/social life due to aforementioned moronic overtime,

Left University,

Haven't kept in touch with alot of folks,

Having to tell my own parents to stop bitching about eachother and to get a bloody divorce already.

Good stuff.
