Chris
I can thoroughly recommend Velvet Five, they played at my cousins wedding and did a bit of everything.Haha no wedding for a good while, it's odd enough saying "engaged". Funnily, to another forum member! Is it Jake? If it's Jake then I think we can just all leave the internet, it's done.

Lemonade
I need to book a band soon but a bit torn. I really love a celidh but I've been to so many weddings where the celidh band have struggled to get a dozen people up on the floor during their set. Then as soon as they finish and the Macarena comes on the whole place is bouncing. People seem oddly resistant to join in a celidh dance, unless they're specifically at a celidh. Adam Easy Wishes
Fuck the ceilidh, just get a really good covers band that don't rely on backing tracks. Your guests will appreciate this far more IMO.

Chris
Hog did a great job of my brother's wedding. We tried to get him for ours but he was fully booked. However he recommended Jules McDonald from up near Peterhead who was fantastic. Couldn't have been happier with how our pics turned out for the pre-shoot and the day itself.http://www.jmstyle.co.uk/
Alkaline
Hog was the photographer at my brothers wedding, his stuff was pretty good. Paul Mackie from Pallas did both my wedding and my best mates and his photos were very good.

Captain America
Photos sorted (Hog), back to looking at band. Got a quote for a good band but not sure what average prices are? Can anyone tell me what they payed for a band, this is a live band/live ceilidh if that makes a difference.
Skubbs
Jumping in, but which city centre venues would people recommend for a reception? I've asked my chums band to play, since they cover all the bands we like and they are all lovely guys. There would be oldies attending, so need somewhere easily accessible. If you've been to any receptions that had a good atmosphere/layout, let me know
MattJimF
My sister had her reception at the Station Hotel, bar downstairs for when you arrive, then upstairs for the meal/night. Only issue is the stairs for when setting up, although they were happy enough working around the people that couldn't traipse up and down the stairs so easily.
