Not in any order, something a bit like:

Rachael Dadd 'After the Ant Fight'

Jeffrey Lewis and the Junkyard 'Em Are I'

Wye Oak 'The Knot'

Sky Larkin 'The Golden Spike'

Slow Club 'Yeah So'

Teacups 'Forest Fiction'

Cate Le Bon 'Me oh My'

Alasdair Roberts 'Spoils'

Alela Diane 'To Be Still'

Fever Ray 'Fever Ray'

Not sure which is best. I've probably listened to Teacups the most this year, but their album only came out the other week. 'Spoils' is pretty good.

Grizzly Bear - Veckatimist

I forgot about the Arctic Monkeys and JJ, their albums would definitely be in my top 10. Fanfarlo and Pheonix are out.

Working on a Dream at number 1? God, I wasn't taken by it at all. A couple of good songs, but I thought it was mostly the Boss treading water.

By no means a classic but a really great pop album with some absolutely brilliant tracks on it (Life Itself, The Wrestler, The Last Carnival) and shows how many different styles he can do. Couple of dodgy tracks but flows really well as an album.

I'm pretty late with this, but I'm bored today and have nothing better to do:

Animal Collective - Merriweather Post-Pavillion

Dananananaykroyd - Hey Everyone!

DOOM - Born Like This

Fever Ray - Fever Ray

Fuck Buttons - Tarot Sport

Hudson Mohawke - Butter

Micachu & the Shapes - Jewellery

1: The Xcerts - In The Cold Wind We Smile

and some other albums I enjoyed this year that aren't in any particular order...

Brand New - Daisy

Chromeo - She's In Control

Mariachi El Bronx - El Bronx (Most bizarre transformation of a bands sound last year, too)

The Maccabees - Wall of Arms

MSTRKRFT - Fist of God

Copy Haho - Bred for Skills and Magic (Not technically an album I know but a pretty fucking good EP)

Simian Mobile Disco - Temporary Pleasure

I find it pretty hard to make "Best of insert year" lists because, although I listen to a lot of music that is new to me, I don't keep a track of whether it was released this year or in the nineties or whatever...

I've decided to put The Cribs - Ignore The Ignorant in at 8 and move everything else down. Not that anyone cares...

I'm the same, purely because I spend more time discovering bands from years gone by than I do finding new bands. It's a bit easier to bump into an old band because they were somehow connected to another band you like. Labelmates, sharing members, etc.

If it was a list of "Best records you heard for the first time this year", my top 10 would be alot different.

aye, i thought it wis a cracking album though i dont think idlewild have done a bad album, just albums perhaps not as good when viewed against 100 broken windows, which is biblicly good.
