Old Gold
Gypsy Swing guitar by Michael Collins SelmerAmazing choice!I'm pretty content with my current setup of a firewood Yamaha acoustic and a seymour duncan woody. I prefer not having to worry about my piece of shit instrument lying about at gigs, and the raw sound suits my style too. Cooould use a good gigbag though.I'd really like a Guild acoustic, and a fishman rare earth pickup to go with it (the SD's lead is a bit thick, and I'm fucked if it breaks at the jack). emergency72
I'd trade everything I have for a nice accoustic and a good voice...no money can buy the latter however so I'm f**kd...

HairyScaryMark
Ok man, interesting choices, got a few questions for ya...This is a dream setup...right? So...why is it thatYou have no better live mics than SM58s?You have two incompatable IEM systems running? You have no Neumanns listed? You chose the shittest bass drum mic around?Just curious. Some good points.I don't ultimately know a huge amount about microphones.Would like some Sennheiser M421's, preferably at least 4. They were the industry standard for toms. Got quite a number of applications also. Also would like AKG C414's, good multi purpose large diaphrams mics also. The Octava MK-012 is fairly recommended by sound on sound. Do well in many applications but especially drum overheads. Not the most expensive mics either. I am now doubtful they were the microphones I previously saw and was impressed with the description of. I am fairly srue they were an octava set (came with 3 microphones, specificly for drums in a nice wooden box). After that I am not really sure what would make a good addition to my studio. The safest (although not the cheapest) option is to buy the 'classic' mics. The AKG D112 is an industry standard, like it or not. I still prefer having 2 mics inside bassdrum, one at kick skin and one at front skin.SM58 is quite sufficent for live vocals in my opinion. There isn't ultimately a huge variation of microphones being used for live vocals. I can't realisticly see myself doing anything more than backing vocals (where SM58 is more than sufficent).Part of the idea of having many things which are probably quite similar i.e C1000, NT5 etc. was if i worked with other musicians that requested certain mics for their sound, i would have a large proportion of them at my fingertips. Also can have multiple projects running at one time without dismantling of gear. You are probably right about IEM.I only really need one set for myself but two would be sensible so I have a backup. I have previously good experiences with the Sennheiser radio microphones. I would probably opt for them, based upon that.Apart from the mics listed above I would like a set of extremely good 'room mics' i.e a stereo pair to be used for distance micing. Probably over the 1000 mark. Also would like a stereo pair of ribbon mics, valve mics and a super high quality large diaphram mic.I heard the theory that the more you spend on microphones, the likelyhood of the not suiting a particular application or voice is increased. Not all mics sound good on all voices. An SM58 will do a good job on 95% of vocalists. A 5000 neumann large diaphram condensor would suit a smaller range and such. Of course, when it is used with the correct vocalist the results are outstanding. This theory is hardly scientific but I believe it does have a point. stuartmaxwell
just purchased a vintage sound city 120 head - absolute bueatbut im already planning for a matamp gt1bass wise. i already have a good rig of mesa boogie 400+ head, ampeg 8x10, american fender precision deluxe, tech 21 tri amp bass driver. but im looking to get some kind of sustainer/compressor - but first i am looking into the possibility of switching to an american jazz, i do like the precision, but it is not quite the tone im looking for. HateEvent
ESP DV8-R SE (no chance of this i think)You don't want that one! You want the DV8-SE. The ESP version! There's a couple still hanging up on the walls in Japanese shops. If you're really interested I can get you details as to which. If it is indeed the LTD you were referring to, there's 200 of them worldwide so they're a bit easier to track down than the 12 of the ESPs.
