Good call on the VG-88 - they're incredible!

I tried out one of these a few years a go. Was very impressed.

It however is in a floorboard format, which would be ok, if it was a good midi controlling device. It however can only control 2 external midi devices which is not sufficent for everyone.

There are various people who will customise them into rack format but that is rather pricey.

I now sort of think I would rather just change the guitars live. A piezo with a good pre amp/effects combination can do adequit acoustic guitar sounds for a lot of stuff. The VG-88 costs as much as a high quality guitar, also.

Hmm, I've heard that putting a Gibson humbucker into a Mustang works really well, but I can't remember the exact model. I need to do some research...

Depends on the sound you're after. I just bought a Gibson 500T on eBay for 32. I was planning on putting it in my Les Paul, but I quite like the stock pickup

I'd like basically a bit of a beefier tone, but nothing in the realms of Dimarzio super distortion or anything like that. My main reservation about fitting a humbucker is that I would have increase the cavity in the body to fit it...
