Guest onlynik
you obviously haven't seen this...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CN_tHhHSLP4Obviously I haven't seen it, I can't stand the man, I find him repulsive, and his humour is so childish, but I guess these days it takes some real talent to be funny, or you can just insult people and the brain dead generation will jump on the bandwagon. SteveCrisis
I'll be giving this a wide berth.I have a lot of dealings through work with Kazakhstan and I find HIM quite talantless and his portrayal of people from that region rather insulting. Johnny Mac
Jesus, some very politically correct people in here. It's only a film.

Stripey
I'll be giving this a wide berth.I have a lot of dealings through work with Kazakhstan and I find HIM quite talantless and his portrayal of people from that region rather insulting.Actually he's sending up the americans and *their* patronising perception of people from that region, which I think he does really well. I'm looking forward to watching this.
The Kernel Loaf
"OMG Dat's offensiv!"...Which is why it's funny. One of the main part of Borat's humour is the reaction he gets from people he meets, and the plain awkwardness you feel about the situation.I will probably be going ot see this next week, and I am looking forward to it. I'm looking forward to watching this.Wow, I actually agree with Stripey. He does show some Americans up to be very racist and stereotypical.... just how much of this is put on and staged i'm not so sure about. Some of his antics are hilarious though. Old Gold
I saw it today and thought it was pretty good. Couple of misses, but generally really clever.Prefered Borat's Television Programme on Channel 4 though.
Shaki
Not too fussed about seeing it on the big screen but look forward to seeing it at some point. I agree that his stuff takes the piss out of the people he's interviewing rather than the nation of Kazakhstan. I didn't take any offence at "Fat Bastard" in the Austin Powers movies (other than being offended that people were so easily amused), a similar ridiculous national stereotype. Jesus.H.Christ
He does show some Americans up to be very racist and stereotypical.... just how much of this is put on and staged i'm not so sure about.Like the cowboy guy at the rodeo...And I think he was for real.Oh, and i thought it was amazing. The best bit being when he walked into the Hotel with his trousers down low after he had asked those kids how to dress/talk!
Captain America
I saw it, thought it was very good. People are paying to much attention to the Kazachstan element, what Cohen is really doing is letting the Americans mock themselves. Anything 'Borat' does himself is only to make the American he is speaking to react, and mock themselves.Although, the "Give me your tears Gypsy" was Fantastic!! Guest DustyDeviada
Saw it last night, thought it was great. To be fair though i was laughing a lot more than anybody else in the cinema.Huge smash in the States too, the Americans can obviously have a good laugh at themselves as well.http://www.boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=2194&p=.htm
Scootray
It wasn't expected to do so well in the States which is why they went on a big media frenzy to try and get it seen in the public eye. Even then they were having doubts, but looks like there's no better marketing ploy than word of mouth now it's top of the US Box Office.I'm planning to see this either this week or next. Then Casino Royale in just over a week! Not long now!
Captain America
Yea, Casino Royale looks pretty damn good. Hopefully the new bond will be as good as Brosnan was!
Spoonie
Huge smash in the States too, the Americans can obviously have a good laugh at themselves as well.i was surprised when i was reading amusing and favourable reviews about it in NYam (NYC's version of the Metro) this weekend. they seem quite taken by it and quite alarmed by the stupidity of some of the americans involved, perticularly the man who thinks that a 9mm or a .45 would be the best protection against jews! /x
Larsen B
I was slightly disappointed by it, but it was pretty darn funny all the same. My favourite bit was probably one of the least controversial scenes, where he started unpacking his case in the elevator and when the member of staff informed him that it wasn't his room, he said "I will not move to smaller room". Scootray
Just come back from the vue. Brilliant film, lots of laughs. There was so mnay good bits, however I'll mention that I did like the bit at the B&B when he found out he was living with Jews. Not my favourite part, but I don't want to spoil the film by telling all the good bits. But certainly one of the funniest films I've seen in a while. Bodast
Best bits:I didn't know what this old man was talking about...In Kazakhstan they would go crazy for you two! Not you so much...Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan, export their own potassium / Other central Asian countries, inferior potassiumI have only ever met one Kazakh and I'm sure he'd be offended by the film but he didn't laugh at anything. I watched the film with an American and she was abashed by the Americans in the film, esp. the man at the rodeo and the guys in the campervan thing. A.Pel
It is well funny. If you are a jew you probably wouldn't be laughing that much though.
