Guest Bob
They have put up tracks on the internet for people to download, they are S-T-I-L-L M-A-K-I-N-G M-U-S-I-C I-N A-B-E-R-D-E-E-NMaking music in your bedroom and putting it on the Internet does not make you a part of the Aberdeen music scene. It certainly does not make you a part of the Fudge Awards 2007, an awards ceremony for which I could write down the names of all attending with a frightening accuracy Nostradamus would be proud of.Let them have their award if the Gods of Fudge deem it worthwhile. It just means more bums on seats and money in the diamond encrusted gold vaults of Fudge HQ. I still think it's irrelevant and out of context. Most people will be totally perplexed by the names on the voting slips and will in the main only feel complete apathy towards the eventual pasty faced winner. If "Best Electronic Artist" appears on this year's Fudge award voting slip, I implore everyone to make the only vote that makes any sense. Vote stayover.

bladeola
No it shouldn't - it's meaningless, irrelevant and out of context. The 'electronic artists' mentioned have nothing to do with Fudge or the Aberdeen music scene. At least 90% of the gig going public neither knows nor cares for anyone mentioned.Let's not fall up our own arses with pretentiousness here.AWESOME post. The Ghost Of Fudge
looks to me like Black Atoms stanglehold on the 'Most Metal Of Metal' award may be a little shaky...any more must-see suggestions before we finalise the nominations?**this year, nominations will be determined by allowing a quantity of baboons (with band names painted on their heads) to cut a deck of cards. Suits rank, high to low: Spades, Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs.

Guest DustyDeviada
Exactly. Show me the gig dates for the proposed entrants.I can't remember the date, but The Deviadas once played a gig with Data Thieves. Apart from the fact that the schedule went to hell because of the length of time it took to set up/take aprt the computer set up, it worked pretty well live. EDIT: It was 19th December 2004, with Pure Lead and Fiona Keenan.http://www.aberdeen-music.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19654

The Ghost Of Fudge
so! it's probably time for bed... but before that, i have some questions to pose you...i need to finalise the nominations for the fudge awards. (the first round of voting will be next saturday - 11th november - in the moorings bar. that way, there should be five gigs in the moorings and one gig in drummonds which you can vote at. so that should be around a thousand voters - plus the online votes...). to this end, some potentially difficult decisions have to be made. as you'll be voting, it's probably only fair you have some say in the matter, so i pose the following questions:0. Strong Like Ox - an 'aberdeen' band or not? Same question: what about The Needles?1. i think we have four definites for BEST INTERNATIONAL ACT, but should Strong Like Ox join them (or are they an 'aberdeen' band?) or should Ficklle Public? Or possibly The King Blues? Perhaps Mercury Tiltswitch? ... i liked their album, it was good...2. are The Amy Sawyers Band 'indie' do you reckon? and is Amber better?3. should Eddison get a nomination? anyone digging their new album? or would you prefer Hookers Green No.1 got a mention?4. i have four definite nominations in my head for MOST METAL OF METAL. so i need to pick one from Element 106, Statue Of Misery, Black Matter... maybe Spike Pile Driver? Dear John? Double Jack? dunno5. who would you rather go see? 10 Easy Wishes or 5 Finger Discount? Or could we call Fiction/Action a 'punk' band and pick them instead?6. Strong Like Ox - better than Samurai Fury?7. have the Holy Folks been playing together longer than a year? 8. do Clearer The Sky deserve as mention as BEST NEWCOMERS?9. are Edgar Prais better than Right Hand Left live in the flesh, as it were? or would you rather go see Radio Lucifer, Deadloss Superstar, The Upstarts or Onion Terror?thanks to anyone who answers those queries xxxi must sleep now. my brain hurts.
