  1. Did a quick search and they look hideous but sound amazing. Still wouldn't want to own one though! YouTube - Andy Mckee The Friend I never met
  2. I love buying from independent labels for this very reason. I used to buy a lot from In At the Deep End (then Sylosis moved label ), and now I buy a fair amount from Basick Records, and they always send you free flyers, and occasionally stickers and posters. My bedroom is almost solely decorated with free stuff from record labels! Also I bought Chimp Spanner's album directly from him and got a signed thank you note from the man himself. I've bought stuff directly from 2 larger American independent labels (Prosthetic and Sumerian) and no free stuff alas, but when the exchange rate is good you get some good stuff cheap, so it's still worth doing
  3. Obviously emo kids love Municipal Waste
  4. Bump. Not looking for any trades, just the cash I'm afraid. Price isn't fixed so make me an offer!
  5. It doesn't mean you are similar to them at all. It's just a list of what people who listen to your band also listen to. Whether you are 'similar' or not relies on people listening to only one type of music that sounds nearly identical. I don't know many people who do that! Also you will find more listeners generally equates to a better result, because people go generally listen to similar music, but one person probably has widely varying tastes.
  6. Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater is going to be drumming on their new album. Wtf? One of the greatest drummers of all time.... with one of the worst bands of all time. The only thing I can say as at least he's an arrogant twat so his ego will fit in nicely. However unless A7X turn out some crazy prog rock/metal album, without the horrible vox, I doubt it will be worth listening to.
  7. I'm missing Abbath again Immortal Kombat Jabbath the Hut Call of the WinterMOOOOOOOOOOOO-n Not funny, but beats Where's Wally
  8. I've got new gear coming soon so don't need this hence selling it. In mint condition, not a single chip on the paintwork or headstock, and the only scratches are minor ones on the back that every single guitar that has been played has These have been redundant for a good few years, and they're not exactly common, so don't have a clue how much it's worth really. Specs wise, Basswood body, maple bolt on neck, rosewood fretboard, 24 frets, 2 Bc rich humbuckers, 3 way pickup selector, volume and tone controls. Fixed bridge. Anyway, looking for 150. Could do with a change of strings but I don't have a set of 7's. A couple of reviews here B.C. Rich Virgin P7: Harmony Central User Reviews
  9. Stone Sour, Lamb of God, Five Finger Death Punch, 30 Seconds to Mars and Billy Idol also announced. Oh well at least Billy Idol will be a laugh Still.... The Dillinger Escape Plan!!!
  10. Aerosmith and Rage Against the Machine are also headlining. I'm so excited I nearly cried... and no the happy tears. RATM are playing a FREE gig the week before, so bit of a con to make people pay to see them, and Aerosmith are apparently going to be fronted by Steve Tyler, despite him quitting a while back :S More bands later tonight, hopefully something interesting. Oh Greg Puciato said on his twitter 'we'll see you guys at Donington later' so The Dillinger Escape Plan should be playing. Finally, a good band!
  11. Nah BC Rich 7 string guitars, I'm trying to get rid of one at the moment and he just bought one. I may be a sad geeky bastard but I have never played WoW or Warhammer
  12. Oh it was in Warehouse. I was probably drunk by that point then. I honestly don't remember seeing you at all, but makes sense you were there if you live together The big goth dude is just some guy I keep seeing in town so talk to occasionally. I've met him like 6 or 7 times and i only just remember his name now! I was actually out with a bunch of people who were sitting in the seats near the right of the stage. Also from here I remember seeing The Sloth, who was totally wasted, and was adamant his beast was better than my virgin... Lies!
  13. I'm sure Kaizen spoke to me on Friday night in the Moorings... or it was your flatmate who approved of my The Arusha Accord t shirt. Think he said he was Kaizen, but I spoke to so many randoms on Friday I can't remember much.
  14. I can do that too and I don't even watch friends. It's just so bloody predictable. Most american 'comedy' shows are utter wank for that very reason This
  15. I thought Periphery/Bulb's J-E-N-O-V-A cover was better, but meh. Misha is god and he can cover any FFVII songs he wants in my opinion Loads of bands have done FF covers though, I can think of at least 3 japanese bands covering them, plus Powerglove did a cover of the boss music. YouTube - Powerglove - Omnishred In other news... FFVIII is on PSN now, which means I have FFVII, FFVIII and Vagrant Story on my PSP. Suck on that nintendo DS. As for FFXIII, I probably won't order it, the battle system looks too similar to FFXII, which I really did not like. You either go fully turn based or real time, like crisis core/Kingdom hearts, not some lame halfway house. The stacking of commands looks a bit more interesting but I'm still not sold on it. Basically, I want to play a demo before I spend 40 on it, or rather 60 cos the special edition looks ace
  16. is what their last album sounded like for those who haven't heard of them before. Portugese Breakfast and Whip it were probs my faves from TMT, but not on youtube
  17. I like TAWFAWW, but not a fan of that really. It's lost a lot of the craziness it had before and don't like the vox. Sounds like they're going for a Daughters-esque drunk type vocal delivery... The cover of whip it was pure genius Daughters on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads if you haven't heard of them. I love them, but TAWFAWW just fall flat on their face in comparison to these guys.

    Solos

YouTube - Sylosis - Last Remaining Light This song as 2 epic solos (3:55-5:00 and the outro), although my fave Sylosis one is The Bereaved, sooo much emotion in that solo. WIsh they would rerecord it as it's on their first EP when lineup was quite different YouTube - Sand and Snow - Light This City Closing solo to this. They are sooo much better than Arch Enemy imo. As you can also see I'm a sucker for harmonized playing. YouTube - Conducting From the Grave - When Legends Become Dust Amazing clean solo at the end. Not complex really but the tone is awesome. Gotta have some Mattias Eklundh. Has such a unique style. Love this song, and amazing solo.Bet no one else was thinking of those! I'll see if I can think of any that anyone else might actually know... The Martyr song I wanted wasn't on youtube I will leave you with instrumental metal cartoon music! Cos it's awesome.. and it sounds like cartoon music.
  19. If people are driving and have a spare seat I'd love to go. It's just the problem is I need to be back in Aberdeen on Thursday night... due to the 9am start on Friday it just wouldn't possible for me to travel back in time as I don't drive. Anyway someone has expressed an interest so atm they be gone In any case you guys should try go/ I've seen BTBAM before and they are incredible live. I saw Lamb of god play the liquid rooms in Edinburgh when it was open, which if you know is a tiny venue, and they were pretty decent too. You just have to overlook the fact Sacrament and Wrath were crap albums and hope they play lots from Ashes of the Wake
  20. Right folks, uni have been a pain in the arse and scheduled stuff I have to go to on the Thursday afternoon and Friday morning so i can't go to this anymore I only bought the ticket for BTBAM but still I've not seen them live in over 3 years so gutted about missing it If you don't know the acronyms: JFAC= Job For a Cowboy ABR= August Burns Red BTBAM= Between the Buried and Me. Tix say Lamb of God + Job for a Cowboy, so looks like JFAC are main support. It's at Barrowlands in Glasgow, Thursday 11th Feb, Doors 7pm. The tickets were 19.25 inc the mandatory surcharge (love ticketmaster! not) so I'll sell the pair for 32.
  21. This was a good gig, kinda marred by the Oceansize vocalist acting like a twat between songs. I wonder if he would have shut up if Satan really had fisted him in the ear. Wish they played Sleeping Dogs and Dead Lions, if they did and I missed it sounded NOTHING like on record
  22. Someone said Keeno as they walked past me last night at Oceansize... I did see a friend later in the night but it wasn't them and the only other people who know me by that name would be people from here. So I consider myself stalked I suppose
  23. Tough call for me on this one... that day is my 21st Birthday, so might head to Moorings for some drinks. I have exams 9th and 11th March so will be a relief... however I also have an exam on ether 16th or 17th March as well, and given I usually start revising 3 days before an exam, night out + hangover = 1/3rd of revision time gone
