    Weekend

Tonight, was in bed cos I'm ill. Tomorrow it's my 21st... so will be in bed feeling ill or revising. Ditto for Sunday. Still got an exam left on Tuesday
  2. As above really. Anyone willing to sell one before I go buy one off ebay? I'm pretty set on the x3 so unless someone is selling an xt live for a decent price (I have had a search and doesn't seem to be a working one for sale atm) don't fancy anything else. Thanks.

How did I not notice the vintage crabcore moves in there the first time I saw that (aggges ago). Nice to see it's still alive and kicking/scuttling

    Pet Hates!

I've resorted to wearing earplugs for nights out as well as gigs, cos I had that problem.... now I can hear everyone else but they can't hear me, and I refuse to shout and fuck up my voice for no reason. Also, I do actually know a bit of sign language, had 2 hour lessons every day for 6 weeks before xmas. It's really useful for loud places, and also just for slagging off people without them having a clue what you're saying. My pet hate for today is getting ill 4 days before exams. I'm just sleeping and feel like shit, but I should be revising my ass off, really scared I'm going to fail these exams, and they're rather important
  5. If only we all had Blackmachines! (not sarcasm, just jealousy:P). Thanks for the info though, they're not something I've used, but might look into it. i do think you probably have the best tone for a metal player up here so that advice is useful. I've only seem them cranked up to the max by all these copycat bands trying to have a 'br00tally heavy' sound
  6. The brass players in ska punk bands are usually women. Pretty sure the hijacks have one (been ages since I saw em though so can't remember!) and their is some band from around here called One Night Stand who i've seen before who had a female singer. They might not be from Aberdeen though, Just checked and they're from Keith bebo.com - Profile from One Night Stand <ONSKeith> But yeah overall not that many.

I'm fully aware of this, and you have to praise them for it. But at the same time it's just annoying the media is just littered with these copycat people who just follow onto whatever is in the press. Admittedly when I was 12 I was listening to whatever was on the tv and my friends were listening to. As soon as I got the internet though, my tastes changed greatly, it just opens up a whole new world of possibility with finding new music. I also appreciate these bands will have genuine fans, and fair play to them, but I don't think these people are the same ones labelling everything else as being a copy of everything else etc. Very few people seem to be that narrow minded, or maybe that's just the people I know also i quite like Paramore's first album, the one before the one that had Misery Business on it

I'm listening to Antoine Dufour atm.... make of that what you will. My posts should probably come with a sarcasm alert, of course it was a sweeping generalisation joke, the magazine itself does give press to a lot of upcoming bands etc( not just 'tech metal' either), but from comments on their website etc, the readers have done nothing to convince me they are anything but a bunch of zombies following whoever is on the front cover. Everything seems to be a rip off or something else or 'emo crap', just cos it's got some singing in it. OH NOZ! I wonder if you will enjoy this musical genius as much as I do, they're the saviours of British music.

    Pet Hates!

Their email address will be stored and presumably their IP logged too. Let's ask the mods and start a witch hunt woo. On second thoughts I doubt anyone cares, but still. Pitchfork mobs ftw Pet hate -> The readers of Kerrang! magazine. They should not be allowed an opinion on music until they're forced to listen to something which isn't a load of crap. This weeks cover= I rest my case. (although The DIllinger Escape Plan and Mastodon are mentioned in small print in the bottom... I've never seen them played on Kerrang tv when I've been unfortunate enough to be forced to watch it)
  10. Still, I like having the range without needing to downtune, And just using overdrive to make your sound heavier leads to muddy guitar tones which I can't stand. I've seen a few local bands dong that, and it's just not my preference, but each to their own.
  11. I don't want to tune that low... it's a lot of effort faffing around with getting custom string setups that i cba with for now. It's gonna be bad enough trying to find a .72 string on it's own, I'm pretty sure that's a baritone string, which I'm not sure will be sold seperately. Atm it's only tuned to E then standard 7 string tuning, cos I find it easier with my crappy tuner. Not sure i'd want to go any lower, and might take if back up to standard when I've had a chance to play it Extended range instruments aren't just for djent either... I'd love to try learn some Scale the Summit stuff (although their tab book is tabbed for 7 strings! Not that they use the 8th string much anyway). I think you've partly illustrated the point there. Can get a heavy tone without tuning really low and having that problem.

My uni cocked up my name twice in the first 2 weeks of term. I had name badges printed (we needed them cos of restricted access to the anatomy department) with Kennen and Kenan printed for my surname before they finally got it right. It can't be that hard to spell something when you've got a million lists with my name on it and I've just said it again! People have called me James or Jimmy as well... but maybe I just can't pronounce my own name. I feel for anyone named Ruaridh or Mhairi or something like that. Must be a real pain in the ass trying to spell it to non scots
  13. I worked in the cafe at the railway station for a year and I've had my fair share of being treated like shit by snobby customers. It gets manic in there sometimes. One time the person was working with didn't show up, so I had to work on my own for 6 hours from 7am-1pm, during which time it was quite busy, had queues to the door half the time, and also had to get in the cups and put them through the dishwasher, whilst trying to serve people. As the assisstant manager and supervisers at the time were assholes no way they would help out, and the manager who was ace was on holiday. Best job.... Probably working at a petrol station. Had to be alert all the time for drive offs but it was nowhere near as boring as the other jobs I've had. Plus on the night shift was no one in half the time so could just listen to metal insanely loud to keep me awake, which was ace. The only customers that did come in were cabbies or people coming back from nights out usually in some absurd fancy dress. Worst part of the job...? As the only person on site if you needed the toilet you had to be really quick and keep the door open to see if anyone was walking in, Thankfully was never caught short myself there. Most disappointing job? I temped at Toys'R'Us just before xmas. Nothing wrong with it really, it was just boring and repetetive. Plus I had to try flog bikes to parents, which I hate doing. Were pressured to try sell helmets/pads to everyone and told off if we didn't sell at least one accessory to everyone who bought a bike. I was rubbish at that, if they already have what they need... why convince them they need more?
  14. Mine is just a nickname everyone gave me for my surname (which isn't Keane, but it's similar) Rockstar name would be Zara Drylaw. Pretty rubbish then
  15. Standard is F#, B then just normal 6 string.
  16. It's just a mess around and experiment thing really, maybe record when I get some gear for doing so. I've got a 6 string that will probably still be most commonly played, cos I love the neck so much. The biggest problem is the scale length (28.625") cos I don't have massive hands so it's a bit of a stretch for chords, but should get used to it. Even if I actually was amazing at guitar, I wouldn't say it I'm not stupid enough to think I am though. I've always assumed the word 'talent' meant some form of exceptional ability that few possess, and that's not the case. It's just a hobby!
  17. http://www.aberdeen-music.com/forums/equipment/57960-ibanez-sa36fm-sale.html#post780832 Pretty much the same then! Maybe see if Diesel wants to sell it, save yourself a bit of money Hope you manage to shift the Cd's then and sorry for hijacking the thread
  18. Should have bought the SA36FM I was selling in September! Went for 140 in the end I think, which was a complete bargain. I remember you were the first to reply as well.
  19. My new guitar arrived today! Spoiler due to size of pics
  20. Teabags was working when I was in the Moorings so quite hard not to stalk him really, unless he served you. I saw a few people from here but sure i spoke to them all, aside from Teabags, but he knows who I am so not a stalk.
  21. Linked to the other videos was this. Perhaps a chat show or career in music journalism beckons?
  22. YouTube - 'ALCOHOL'- MILLIONAIRES OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO No one ever heard of these monstrosities? They're another shitty synthpop gone wrong band, If someone cut their tongues off and they could never make music again, I would happily celebrate.

    Pet Hates!

DHL and Carphone Warehouse, they're both shit. I was waiting on some stuff I ordered, which was dispatched last week. Now granted I should have checked the email more closely, but it was dispatched in 2 packages. I got 1 red card through my door (you can spot where this is going here), went all the way to altens to collect it, which is a 2 hour roundtrip for me cos I live on the other side of Aberdeen and don't drive, to collect this parcel. Handed over the card, the guy saw my name on the parcel and ID, and the package I collected was literally on a shelf behind him at the collection point. Surely on their computer system it must have said their was another package waiting for me? Plus it must have been right beside the other one. Anyway I've got another trip to Altens tomorrow to pick up the other one, and I have no red card to say it wasn't delivered. At least I can whinge cos their driver was such a lazy a cunt he couldn't write my name and a number twice, when they clearly were 2 separate packages with separate tracking codes. Next... Carphone Warehouse. Went with them originally only cos they had the handset I wanted. Contract is expiring soon, so some guy phoned me up today. Said 'would you rather not save money than give it to Orange?' well actually I can get a 5 discount by going on their online store you lying bastard. Then when I said I hadn't decided on whether I wanted a SIM only renewal or a new handset, the cheeky fucker just hung up on the spot. Anyway, they're most definitely not getting my money again.
  24. My new guitar was very sadly reading for shipping nearly 2 months early, so I've just had to pay the rest of the money for that. As such, I want rid of this ASAP. Make me an offer!
