  1. I have a friend who lives in Germany who actually just last night asked me if I wanted to go to Summer Breeze. The tickets are only 66 for this lineup :O http://www.summer-breeze.de/files/flyer/SummerBreeze_Flyer_UK.jpg Unfortunately it's in August and the flights are pretty expensive. My friend lives in Karlsruhe, and the only way to get there is to fly via Stanstead, which is only 24 each way... but the flight to Stanstead from Edinburgh costs 50 each way :S I don't mind getting a megabus etc but i have no idea where Stanstead is or how to get there! Download tickets were 135 for the ticket only, 160 for 3 day camping and 170 for 5 day camping. Although I got my ticket before xmas, so the prices may well go up when they go on sale again.
  2. The best lineup as far as my tastes go are Hellfest and Summer Breeze. Pain in the arse for dates and money though. Travelling to France or Germany will be even more expensive than Download. Summer Breeze really does have a good mix, as well as some sick bands. Origin, Hypocrisy, Suffocation, Dark Tranquillity, Equillibrium, Hacride, War From a Harlots Mouth, Swallow the Sun and Long Distance Calling, Some other good bands on there too. EDIT: I just checked Neurotic Deathfest... Origin, Gorod, The Red Chord, Revocation, Beneath the Massacre, Carcass and Dew Scented.. that's a great lineup too!
  3. AC/DC Motorhead Wolfmother Stone Temple Pilots Bullet For My Valentine Them Crooked Vultures (apparently headlining :S) Deftones Megadeth Volbeat I've already got a ticket and booked travel. I've never been to a festival before and decided on download cos it's the only one my best mate would go to, she's more into the commercial stuff. I have to say... i do not like any of those bands. I can't stand 4 of them. I really do hope the other bands are much better, or at least they put some decent bands on the second stage. I may have to buy a Bloodstock ticket to console myself at this rate.
  4. Does that mean you will be up in Aberdeen for a piss up soon? Sounds good if it does! Note to everyone else.... look at his location
  5. I've got a BC Rich Virgin P7 that I will be selling at some point to make way for my new guitar when it arrives. Not in a rush though. It's just a standard model, no modifications and in mint condition, not even a single chip on the body. You'll find all the info online.
  6. That's a pretty varied lineup! Classic Rock, NWOBHM and death metal? Needs more Tech Metal though. I suggest No Consquence if they can make it
  7. YouTube - Death Metal Rooster saw that earlier and also found out a few bands exist in this style..... Dog fronted grindcore Cow fronted grindcore Bovinus (new track) on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads (on grass eating monsters anyway) Parrot fronted death metal Hatebeak on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads Is this the future of music?
  8. SQA - Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework If you look there, Credit level standard grade and intermediate 2 are both level 5 qualifications.
  9. No, they didn't pay a penny. But I did have a scholarship at a private school (for secondary, went to a normal primary school) if that's what you mean My mum works behind the till in a petrol station and my dad is a janitor in a nursery. I'm not a rich kid But yeah the standards there were ridiculously high academically wise. I do wonder what it would have been like to go to a state secondary. For me probably just 6 years of bullying!
  10. 1 in Standard Grade is Equivalent to A in Int 2 tbh. The school I went to just preffered Int 2's as they were a better preparation for higher in most subjects. And I'm not a genius near enough 60 people in my year got 5A's at higher (a good number took 6 in 5th year and got straight A's o_O) and one guy ended up with 5 A's at Advanced Higher before he left
  11. Everyone has more standard grades than me! Standard Grade Maths 1 French 1 IT 1 Intermediate 2 English A History A Technology A Hospitality A (this was a practical cookery course, it was fun... and EASY!!) Chemistry A Biology A Highers Maths A English A Physics A Biology A Chemistry A Advanced Highers Chemistry A Biology A Statistics w/ maths B (with pure maths.. the pure part fucked me over big time!)
  12. Holy shit, I these guys. I've actually got a brand new and still sealed copy of the album ( I loved the album so much I bought a second copy in the Basick sale to give to someone, who I still haven't decided upon, as a present ) so I could maybe drop it off at the Moorings if I can face parting with it. Anyway, Latitudes was my favourite song of last year. It's epic. If you put them on I'd pay double entry fee and try my hardest to drag as many of my mates along as possible! YouTube - No Consequence - Latitudes
  13. I presume he means 2 guitarists with 7 strings.... I couldn't figure it out any other way either
  14. Only that it costs $60 for a mandatory hardcase, then $110 for shipping. Then when it arrives in the UK you're hit with 17.5% VAT, then another 4% levy on top of that. Finally the lovely people at customs take an administration charge for good measure. I've done the research... and I put down a deposit on one yesterday Not with EMG's though. Don't like em and I want to put bareknuckles or if I have the money lundgren's in it anyway. Passives ftw. If you have a look around sevenstring.org they're getting pretty good reviews, and one of my friends knows a guy with one and says they are seriously good value. If you've heard of Keith Merrow (really good djent guitarist, has put out a free EP and album) he had one and said they were pretty decent instruments, but he just preferred 7 stringers. That model is a single EMG as I'm sure you noticed, you can also get them with 2 EMG's, and a kahler trem as well, but those cost $1000 If you ordered the $700 one, by the time it arrives in the UK at your door you will have paid $860 to get it here (about 530) then the 22% ish on the value of the guitar (about another 80-85, then the fee). Probably looking at about 630 ish in total, Which is still a damn good deal. I've ordered this one Agile Septor 828 RN Nat Ash (Deposit for May 2010) at RondoMusic.com
  15. No carpet but floor in Warehouse is sticky at the bar and like ice on the dance floor. It's quite an impressive feat really. No carpets in Korova either from what I remember. I like Korova cos it's usually cold inside. That to me = win. Really hot night clubs suck
  16. Habit. on other forums you have a bit in your homepage which has a list of who quoted you and a link the post, makes it easier to find things instead of watching and trawling through threads. And I think I was gonna put 'draw droppingly' in bold to illustrate my point but as I'm an idiot forgot. So my bad all around then.
  17. YouTube - Worst Song Ever (Behold The Arctopus) that's 18 across 2 instruments :O That song is crap, it's one of their early ones, recent stuff has been much better and actually resembles music. Across 3 instruments or Meshuggah use 21 but Scale the Summit have 8 string guitar, 7 string guitar, and 6 string bass, which is more impressive IMO. And people who don't like metal should like them I should get a new amp too, and maybe a decent head...but no money so will have to wait a LONG time. Although i have no intentions of playing live. not really needed then!
  18. 8 String Guitar Esp Ltd Fm408 Bargain Clapham London guitars guitar amps for sale Found that actually... but as I said only 25.5" scale length. Agile Interceptor 827 MN Lizard Burst (Deposit for May 2010) at RondoMusic.com If that didn't have a kahler trem I would be on that in a flash. Heard bad things about them, and I'd rather just get the fixed bridge they have on their cheaper models anyway, less hassle As for the arm race to see who can weild the most strings, DEFECT NOISES (New CD OUT!!!) on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads has a 10 string. Although it seems the company who makes his guitar make stock 10 strings with bridges that emulates sitars. Now that's weird o_O For tapping instruments a Warr guitar would be a laugh (go listen to Behold... The Arctopus... instead of a bass guitar the have a warr guitar player) but the fretboard is the size of a dining table. Plus I have small hands and it's a challenge to play my 7 string sometimes... 8 should be a laugh !
  19. I think the ESP's are overpriced. Only the signature models have a decent scale length, the normal 8 string ain't worth it IMO I'm considering importing an Agile Intrepid 8 string. For the money they're outstanding guitars... and I can't afford 1300 on an RG2228, which is the only other 8 string I would even consider buying! Oh and if you're still interested in the 7 string with the EMG I may be selling one soon
  20. Nice idea but I can spot a few 'draw droppingly' obvious errors. Should have read it over again before sending. Furthermore, hyberbole IS exaggeration, saying 'hyperbole and exaggeration' is just repeating yourself. I agree with the general sentiment, but I don't think they'll publish it tbh. I don't think it will be in the letters page... as I doubt her overinflated ego would like that or the editors would publish a blatant attack on one of their columnists. Dare we think what her reply would be anyway.
  21. If that's all you are going to use it for get a netbook. You don't need a laptop, unless you want it to have a cd drive as well... but if not deffo look at notebooks. Can get a good one for under 200 these days. Probably best to get an Asus mind, not one of the shitty brands like Acer. As someone has pointed out are you talking about mobile broadband or a landline service for home? And their is nothing wrong with BT home broadband! I've got the 8MB home service and works fine with xbox live etc. and even when their are 3 of us on it, still get a reasonably fast connection. Although admittedly cos of where we live it was only BT or some rubbish company we had the choice of
  22. The Dillinger Escape Plan - Option Paralysis Arsis - Starve for the Devil Minus the Bear TesseracT - One (i think that's what it's gonna be called...) Periphery Fellsilent Quo Vadis (hopefully... they've been writing since summer 2008 apparently :O) Textures Obsidian Alarum and SikTh making a glorious reunion and releasing a 3rd album... in my dreams anyway.
  23. Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses was one of the albums that got me into metal really. It's still IMO one of the best metalcore records I've ever heard. It was emotional and at times lyrically clever (At Least I'm Know I'm a Sinner etc) without ever falling into the emo/cheesy clich. Alive or Just Breathing by Killswitch Engage is the other record that fits into the same category, for me anyway. Everything since then has been a pile of wank though
  24. JIMMY "THE REV" SULLIVAN | Avenged Sevenfold I know I hate them but it's still a shame when someone dies so young. I hope as a mark of respect they stop making music....
