  1. I really like this. On a vaguely related note, try PG Lost on for size, I'd imagine a couple of people on here might like them. MySpace.com - pg.lost - Norrkping, SE - Alternative / Experimental / Indie - www.myspace.com/pglost
  2. Booked. Me and a couple of mates going down for a healthy dose of nostalgia, brilliant. Also, has anyone heard their latest album? I know it was pretty much Kris Roe and session musicians, but I enjoyed it quite a lot.
  3. To be honest, I was basically referring to the first few stories and the births/marriages section! I've got no beef with the sport!
  4. Happened to my mate once, apparently he couldn't talk OR walk from the pain, and also almost passed out. It's a fucking terrifying notion, I must say.
  5. Ooooooooouch. This just sounds so incredibly unpleasant.
  6. I don't know man, this is a bit of a minefield in general (or a minesfield, perhaps?). People who claim to like things "ironically" annoy me.
  7. I agree with all of yours, but these are my favourites. The Buchan Observer in Peterhead is amongst the most gramatically inept papers I've ever come across. Definitely one of the most guilty parties in this regard!!
  8. Agreed. Without saying too much, some people perpetuate the exact same thing they're complaining about. Obviously this is a two way street, but the hypocrisy of that does irritate me immensely.
  9. You people are pretty perceptive. I didn't even realise some of these things annoyed me until I read them here and really thought about it! As regards the Rangers/Celtic thing, I'm a Rangers fan and have absolutely no patience for this kind of crap. Also, people who, upon discovering I'm a Rangers fan, give me all this "Rule Brittania" bullshit, basically assuming that I'm automatically some kind of sectarian twat.
  10. There's a gentle femininity to his features. I think this is one of those things that should be something that, if you're going to do it, you just do. Not drinking/smoking etc. is fine, but I agree with the comments in here saying that the whole thing is a bit abused by attention-seeking types.
  11. The worst ones are the ones who try to publicly play you off as some kind of freak if you don't talk to them by following you up the street and talking really loudly. Loathesome individuals. I've seen myself alter my route up Union Street to sidestep the bastards.
  12. "Hey Lester, you got a minute?" "For you Brad, I've got five." In other news, much agreement with the Shelter comment. I hate getting pestered by these people. My philosophy on the matter is that if I want to give to charity, I'll come and find them, not the other way around.
  13. My sister does this all the time. Also, I can't believe I haven't mentioned before, but you have an outstanding username. On a loosely related subject, people who put xbetweenxwordsxinxtheirxusernamesx
  14. Painfully true. There's a guy at my work that is particularly bad for this. There's been a few times lately where I've had no choice but to say "That's just out and out false" to him. Spinning the recycled tabloid gossip is one thing, but reading it once and subsequently getting it wrong is worse still. Which leads me organically to my next point: People who talk as though they are an authority on a topic they know nothing about.
  15. Disappointed I have to miss this, but I'm working in the evening so my workmate can go, and he's a much bigger Xcerts fan than me. So, y'know, greater good and all that.
  16. Agree with the "love", "honey", "hun", "doll" etc. etc. Bad grammar in general, especially in official documentation. Chronic overuse of the word "mate", especially to people who aren't actually your mates. For example, when I was out on Wednesday, I heard the beginnings of a fight, where the basic essence of one guy's chat was "I'm going to fucking batter the living shit out of you, mate." The irrelevant details thing really fucking irks me as well actually. Especially when they're telling you a story with an ending that directly concerns you, so you're listening intently waiting for the outcome and have to wait for them to figure out whether it was half four or quarter to five that they ran into the person in town (or was it at the bus station?). EDIT: Oh, and the stigma some people attach to drinking in the afternoon. Sometimes it's just nice.
  17. It's not that great to be honest. Pretty much Elton John ft. Brandon Flowers. It's a bit mid-paced and over-long. Their Christmas single last year however, was genius.
  18. Kartta continue to impress, likewise The Little Kicks. Also had mad love for Greater The Shadow when I saw them a month or two ago.
  19. Best 3 bands heard this year for the first time: The Gaslight Anthem, Emarosa, New Adventures Best gigs: Murder by Death at King Tuts, Coldplay at SECC, Gaslight Anthem at Garage. Best Releases of the year: Consult the top 10 albums thread. YAS MINs of the year: Joining Headlight, and the subsequent enjoyment that came along with it. Losing my girlfriend, only to realise weeks later how much better off I am now. Also, gaining a fresh appreciation for just how ace some of my friends are. Best purchase: Guitar Hero III / Freeview box Biggest disappointment: The Glasvegas album, and Finch's Aberdeen show being cancelled with no reschedule. Looking forward to in 2009: Hopefully finding a new job, and more Headlight shenanigans.
  20. Alexandra's version sold 140,000 on Monday. At that point, Leona Lewis' version of "Run" was second with 28,000. Could we have an all-cover top three this week?
  21. In no particular order... Emarosa - Relativity Murder By Death - Red of Tooth and Claw Frank Turner - Love Ire and Song Coldplay - Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends Jack's Mannequin - The Glass Passenger Funeral for a Friend - Memory and Humanity Rise Against - Appeal To Reason Slipknot - All Hope Is Gone Alkaline Trio - Agony and Irony but the clear favourite... The Gaslight Anthem - The '59 Sound The obvious Springsteen influence/referencing doesn't throw me in the slightest to be honest, I'm far too busy enjoying what they're doing to worry about it. Enjoyable live act as well.
  22. I'm with you on this one Justin, M&Ms and Maltesers all the way. Also not averse to some Galaxy Caramel.
