  1. Surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet? March 25th, tickets 9.50 stbf, on sale now. They were brilliant at the Tunnels and at Wizard this year, already booked my ticket for this one, should be great.
  2. This happened to me at Amusement Parks on Fire back in September! He's a legend, and properly knows his stuff. You can't beat staff who are actually passionate about music, and everyone at OneUp ticks that box, especially him. I'd like to think that that's how I would be if I was in that position.
  3. You know what they say, any publicity is good publicity.
  4. In terms of constructive criticism, you don't get much better than that. Well said.
  5. I watched this last night. Alexandra's version was HORRENDOUS. Don't get me wrong, she's clearly talented but I've always thought part of the song's appeal is it's simplicity, so to go all Mariah Carey syllable-elongating on it was a dire, dire error.
  6. Don't have it in me to read through this whole thread, but the woman who's always sat outside Morrison's. I once heard her loudly proclaim to a similarly dishevelled looking person that she'd just received a picture message, before producing a phone which looked absolutely brand new.
  7. Yes, York Street in Peterhead! You lived there too? My parents have lived there since 1989 or so, and I still stay there a couple of nights a week.
  8. I hate being stuck at home on weekends. Won't make this I'm afraid, but all the best for it. Also, looking forward to gigging with you in April.
  9. I'm surprised by the choice. Every other X Factor winner's song so far has been "token ballad about overcoming adversity with added key-change" up until now, so this is a huuuuge change of tack. There's a campaign somewhere online for Rick Astley to be Christmas Number One. It'd be the lesser of two evils, I guess...
  10. I've been looking to get back into pub quiz action. Where's good?
  11. Good point. Still really like the place, mind.
  12. Nah, I think that's pretty well put. If you're going to be in a band you need to be thick-skinned. Also, if you act arrogantly and then subsequently hit the sulk button the minute anyone says anything negative, of course you won't be taken seriously. As far as I'm concerned, naivety has a lot to do with it, but the fact is that the sooner you learn those lessons, the better. People having a go at you is basically an occupational hazard. Suggesting that the reason people don't like you is because they "can't handle you" is fairly laughable. It's not like any of us went on to their MySpace and found them so awesome it had a detrimental effect on our motor skills. For the record, I'm a fan of glam/classic rock etc. when it's handled correctly, and think that they probably are doing something different, which is to be commended. That said, I think that taking the attitude they have so far, they've shot themselves squarely in the foot.
  13. The "Barack Obama Can't Be President, Look How Skinny His Legs Are" one is a recent favourite of mine.
  14. Inside I'm Dancing. It was decent.
  15. One positive thing to arise from this thread: I'm now dead keen to see Rise.
  16. It's a great idea. Nothing worse than seeing a venue empty out halfway through the bill and this is as good a plan as any to try to stop that from happening.
  17. I got a review copy of the new Holloways EP, I really like it. "Sinners and Winners" is a tune.
  18. I quite like Cellar 35. Also been known recently to show my face around the Prince of Wales and the Boar.
  19. Holy Hell, that lineup is class. I'll be at that.
  20. I like Edgar Prais, a real good-time live show. Obviously I'll see them in April but I might try to crack down to the Lemon Tree at the end of the month, haven't seen them since Wizard and was a bit gutted I couldn't make this last night.
  21. ...but not as good as Torn or Big Mistake. Or anything from her "Left of the Middle" album. Sunrise, sunset.
  22. Despite the fact that any attempt by me to be even slightly enigmatic would unquestionably fall on its arse, I'm loving this idea.
