  1. Apologies for hijacking a vaguely related thread, but has anyone noticed the Mahjong's penchant for generating unsolvable layouts? This is unsolvable because you cannot free the top one as the other 3 possibilities are underneath it. It comes up with this scenario surprisingly often!
  2. Knowledge is everywhere. You are being stifled by your cynicism.
  3. I'd listen to you at least. Knowledge is power, and it doesn't come looking for you.
  4. With the attitude you are exhibiting, it seems likely that a similar opinion of you will be held by others.
  5. For what instrument? Guitar? Bass? Something else?
  6. What is the impedance of the 1x15?
  7. A few from hazy memory Cocky Hunters > Frankenstein The Tappit Hen > O'Neills The Granary > Foundry JJ Booths > Booths > The Wynd > Ninety Nine
  8. Not even the remotest chance of decent Freeview reception with us (Balgownie repeater == crap). We were lucky though, the council put a communal dish on the side of our building and we got a feed from it even though we're not council tenants (which was nice of them). One Sky box on ebay and a 20 viewing card (to descramble Ch4 and five) later and we were up and away. Now that E4/More4 are available free to view (previously free to air) on Sky, it's even better. Just checked the Freeview for us just now and this is the choice: BBC1,2,3 CBBC BBC News Radio Scotland That's it. So, officially worse than analogue at the moment. Reckon they'll be ready to switch off the analogue signal up here in 2010?
  9. Well, I'll approach it with an open mind. I will watch it and then decide what my opinion is.
  10. Let's lighten the mood with some courier nicknames: ParcelFarce Royal Fail DH-Hell ShittyLink U-Penis Anyone got any others?
  11. For sale I have an EMG bass pickup - a 40P5. It is for 5 string basses. This pickup is unused (pickup still in shrink wrap), in original packaging, and complete with all parts (screws, pots, jack socket, battery clip, wads of foam and wiring diagram). The only down side is it's an older EMG without Quik-connect - the wires just come directly out of the bottom of the pickup. Bumf from EMG site: "The 40P5 design has two offset coils that result in more low end with brilliant highs. It is intended for 5-string models that have a standard string spacing and uses short, squat coils that have very little resistance and plenty of inductance. Ceramic magnets are used to add clarity. The 40P5 has a natural presence, powerful lows, punchy midrange, and superior definition. This pickup uses a 40 Extended housing that is 4 inches (102mm)." Piccies, dimensions etc. here: Electric Guitar Pickups & Accessories - EMG Pickups | EMG-40P5 Because EMG like to bury such useful information inside their whole catalogue only, max string spacing is 3.125". Remember though, it's not Quik-connect as shown in the pics on the website, it is hard wired. 50 and it's yours.
  12. I hope you've got plenty cash waiting.
  13. It's highly unlikely that someone has a 1TB external drive just lying around idle. Try looking at this: HotUKDeals - Deals - Computers Search for external drives and see what bargains there are out there, this site does yield some good prices at times.

  15. Cocktail sticks are harder than matches and will hold better. Even better with a dab of wood glue.
  16. I haven't bought any for a while - kinda worried that I'm getting disinterested in new music... Had Bloc Party's new one on pre-order for a while, it arrived on Saturday and I haven't even looked at it yet.
  17. On a semi-related note - I got accosted on the bus yesterday by some American lassie who was trying to get people to go to some church or other. There were two of them doing the whole divide and conquer thing. Thank you to my friends who provided me with a simple get out of jail free card - I was on my way to attend their son's christening, so sorry my dear but I'm already on my way to church. Conversation kinda dried up after that
  18. Sometimes it's fun to keep the clipboard brandishing proxies of diminishing returns hanging on for ages, skirting around their questions remaining steadfastly non-committal before finally saying no. They get quite jumpy if they don't get your details within the first minute or so But, fun though it is, I have better ways to spend 5 minutes of whatever time I have left. And +1 for giving to charities as directly as possible than half of it disappearing in some commercial concern's pocket.
