  1. Is that Project Slogan place still around? Did it ever do gigs? I'm not sure what the options are for rehearsal spaces in Aberdream these days, but could something be done in any of them or are any of them big enough to do anything in? Different bands in different rooms maybe. BYOB. GBOL ATB. I have never organised a festival in my life, so these are probably stupid questions. Especially when I think about the CW practice space gigs and dubious legality of them. Stag and Dagger this year had a pop-up stage in a hairdresser's, so things like that could be cool... provided it wasn't too much of a pain in the ass to source gear and the place you chose didn't have a totally awkward layout. DAE IT. Same.
  2. Word. Loads of people use this thread to ask questions that Google could probably clear up relatively quickly, but you're the only person I've noticed people get really cunty with for no reason. Sort it out, forum, why are a dickhead?
  3. All my shoes turn to shit really quickly too! But I walk like a weirdo, so I think it's probably that. Stop walking like a weirdo.
  4. Ryan Atwood's gonna be Commissioner Gordon? Well I certainly didn't expect that misunderstood bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks to end up in law enforcement!
  5. Where's good for beers near Marina underground? Please and thank you. This thread is only making my desire to go to New York stronger. A pub open from 7am that shows Aberdeen games? Swoon!
  6. That'd be ace min! I'm always interested in International Experience Canada, but the places go so quickly...
  7. Ah cool. I didn't think they'd make you pay any extra, but did wonder if you had to get them ages in advance. Will chance it on the day then. Thanks, min.
  8. Stag and Dagger plan sorted. Should be a lovely day. I'm looking through Primavera's stage times and have noticed the Auditori Rockdelux times. I remember last time I went there was a stage in a tent that you had to have extra tickets for, rather than just a festival wristband and am wondering if that is the case this year. Pandroid? If so, how do you get these tickets in advance? I had no idea about it before going last time and as a result, missed out on seeing Sufjan Stevens and a few others who were only playing on that stage.
  9. Burns: You, Foodbag. Do you have a son? Homer: Yes, sir, I do. Burns: And is he a constant disappointment? Does he bring home nitwits and make you talk to them? Homer: Oh, all the time! Have you ever heard of this kid Milhouse? He's a little wiener...
  10. Just remembered Workfare. Bleurgh.
  11. Where can we hear your music? Where in The United Kingdom are you from? What is your unique and different style that is mentioned on your Facebook? Is it saxophone? These are my questions. Yours, Kirsten
  12. That deserved more screen time for sure
  13. We were totally clueless about all this stuff to begin with and ended up going to the council first to ask about housing benefit. They said that they won't even consider it unless you're claiming jobseeker's, but I think as long as you start the process of claiming JSA, the council can start the process of getting housing benefit/council tax exemption sorted. I'm not sure what Aberdeen Council is like in terms of this, but we were warned with Edinburgh that it would take four weeks for them to chase things up with the Job Centre and get all the paperwork sorted. I can't quite remember how this worked, but I think we got backdated housing benefit for those four weeks. Some people might try and make it difficult for you to claim, or not make you aware of things you're entitled to, so be careful. For example, there's a lot of focus on getting claimants to sign up to the crappy Universal Jobmatch website. I think you might have to be registered with it, but what isn't mandatory is to turn on the option that allows the DWP to have access to all of your accounts. The government are putting pressure on Job Centre Advisors to make you feel like if you don't turn on that option, you'll lose your benefits. That's not the case, it's not compulsory. Don't let it get you down. Fight for what you're entitled to. Fuck the Tories, etc.
  14. How many tattie scones are you bringing?
  15. Oh definitely check her out, she's great. I had no idea who she was until I made a Spotify playlist of all the Stag and Dagger bands and she was immediately one of the stand-out ones. I love it when that happens! Her song 'Avant Gardener' is lyrical genius.
  16. Yeah, Albert Hammond Jr should be great. Also excited for The Fat White Family, Hold Steady, Courtney Barnett and Lizzo. I'm amazed that the line-up is so good. We went last year and really enjoyed it, but the organisers have seriously upped their game this time!
  17. I could delete mine too, but I think this could be a great new direction for my internet persona, so I'll just leave it there.
  18. Apparently it is going to be, yeah. That show was my thought too. I hope it doesn't ruin it, I know most shows use that plot device when they run out of ideas, but I think I have faith in Parks...
  19. Oh yeah! It's weird, I always just sort of glance at people's avatars and if it's not instantly recognisable, I don't tend to bother to look at what they actually are, so in my head over time they become what I assumed they were with that initial glance. (That was an awful sentence, I'm really sorry. I'm just in a hurry to get this posted and then I can watch the Muppets and drink beer) "I imagine this avatar that I could look at for longer and figure out is probably some sci-fi thing. Good." Not sure what I thought Miley was before. Probably some sci-fi thing. I have changed my avatar for the first time in about six years. It is John Darnielle patting and holding a wombat. As you were.
  20. End of Parks and Rec s6 was so satisfying. Felt like a last-ever episode. Seventh series is gonna be we-eird.
  21. New tUnE-yArDs streaming on NPR. http://www.npr.org/2014/04/25/306543443/first-listen-tune-yards-nikki-nack
  22. I couldn't make it past the second page. Christ, homosexuality being compared to birth defects... What a horrible bunch of cunts there used to be on here. Glad the majority have been replaced by a lovely bunch of cunts.
