  1. They are just 'Megadave' anyway. The sooner he does something exciting again, the better.
  2. Jimmy Moon in Shawlands, Glasgow. He built my Explorer and is very reputable all around. Either him or Jimmy Egypt from the Academy of Sound in Glasgow too. No guitar shop locally will be able to do structural repairs such as that.

  4. Woop! That was fucking awesome! Nice chunking guitar Hog! I quite like the look of that 'Shine' guitar. One off custom? Drummer is insane! I was 'a dancer' tonight! I had the Slayer shirt on and sang 'Machine' for WJ! I had to leave before Hot Mangu though but I was overly satisfied with that which I got to see! Props guys!
  5. I shall be attending. I'll finally get to see you play! Unless you're on too late (school in morn.. )
  6. "AmbientMood is a giant douche" The crowd would love that.
  7. Mesa Boogie Mark III around the AJFA period. Combination of Diezel VH-4 and Mesa Rectifiers/TriAxis just now. Caparison Guitars and Framus Cobra amps. It sounds cool I think. Some of Hetfield's rhythm tones are near impossible to beat for metal. Perfect example: Live Shit: Bing & Purge, San Diego. Creeping Death. The riff with Hetfield playing on his own (main riff). That tone owns! But yes you are correct, the production on AJFA was horrific. That (for songs) is my favourite Metallica album. I think that as far as lead tones go, Zakk Wylde and Dimebag have the best. With DamagePlan, Dime's tone wasn't AS good. Just listen to Trendkill (any of it) or the solo in Walk for examples. As for Zakk, crushing! Rhythm tone: Hetfield around Black Album time was good, it's a bit off nowadays though. Also, Pissing Razors have a GREAT rhythm tone, very powerful. It's a combo of ESP, EMG and Mesa. A combo I use and love!
  8. +1 If it sounds shit, it can result in being unsatisfactory, you may lose the will to bother if you feel that every time you play, it sounds completely shit. If the guitar is very poorly made, it will sound pathetic. That would put me off certainly. If it sounds reasonable and you KNOW that any shit sounding-ness (my English teacher would kill me for that..) is caused by your ability, then you may wish to continue playing to improve how it sounds. Also, if the guitar feels good to play (not like a complete raft), then you may be inclined to pick it up more often. Just my thoughts though, you may feel differently. P.S. I take it you are referring to the Ridgewood SW-203 at 89? It isn't that bad! If stretching to 150ish, you'll get more for the money. IMO anything less than the Ridgewood isn't worth the bother.
  9. It's not as much rushing to play them as being really eager to do it. I stood in for someone at a gig before - albeit only for 2 songs - and it was fantastic, so I really can't wait to do it with my own material. Was just a checker that what I have already is adequate to go out and go ahead!
  10. I'm still in the process of writing tracks for my soon to be gigging (hopefully) band. I'm just wondering, 5/6 originals and a cover - that OK as a start for gigs? I REEEEEEEALLY wanna get going and want to have an idea what we could get away with to be up and running quick. I mean I guess I could pump out shite for the sake of having more tracks, but that would be stupid... P.S. I put this into this section because I know it'll prob get more hits quickly? Cheers, James
  11. Yay for not knowing as much as I should then! It CAN help, I mean I know some stuff, but when writing riffs and progressions, I tend to stick with what sounds good to my ears, not what SHOULD be happening as I find some stuff fall victim to.
  12. I shall be there. Got my ticket already! Ooh yeah! I need to learn more of the WJ lyrics though, I could only get a few last night! A few wasn't bad though, I did ok
  13. HOG! Announce IMMEDIATELY if SYL are coming to Scotland! I MUST attend!
