  1. Hmmm, am curious to know what vintage of mp3 you heard, basically if its last years I agree that it sounds a bit dodge, and if its this years I don't, whats the song & describe any distinguishing features please. The thing is that the electronic tech element is what I love about it, the more we sound like a rock band the less interested I am. We ave started working with a drummer recently, and he is a full-on member of the band now, even though not YET live. But the crucial factor is that he is (I THINK) the best techno/house/electro etc DJ in toon, so that remains a huge influence on the sound & riddims. That said, I just don't buy the orthodoxy that 'real' drums are better than 'fake'. Ta for comment anyway, always handy.
  2. A.K.A. the Fox supporting Motormark in the Tunnels, June 23rd, our first 'out of town' gig back here, can't keep away for long!
  3. Ach the Triptych thing was a back door blag anyway, so can't complain about the turnout, just made us more determined to devastate Glasgow. Speaking of which there is now a nice wee review of Sunday night on the T Break page here
  4. Thats the proper Pioneer Spirit *hums Soviet worker theme*
  5. Playing Bass!!? and you haven't listed your (incredibly expensive) kit in you're talents bit!!!!? you'll no go far wi that attitude min.
  6. 'the' is not part of the Rolling Stones name. Its just that you need to use it to sound grammatically correct. Although they used to be evasive about it, depending on whether 'the' was considered hip at the time, or not. eg. 'Let it Bleed' says Rolling Stones on the cover, while Sticky Fingers has The before the name, ad infinitum.
  7. Didn't there used to be a night called Gabbadeen, best name ever (of its type). Just ask a random boy racer type, they love it.
  8. In the Dorian mode you know. Or is that the Doric mode?
  9. I totally rate my Creative Zen, gets v close to stated 24 hr battery life, unless you satart playing loads of wavs, or do a lot of up/downloading. Good for weekends away if not used continually, I'm just back from the weej and it's good for journey there & back + about 4 hrs misc use, and I could use it for a while tomorrow without a charge (not to mention sleep music). Control pad can be a bit fiddley though, but gets better if you use it a bit. Anecdotal evidence suggests it is also louder than iPods. Its just the whole concept of the portable music library that makes life that bit better.
  10. Biddleywiddleywiddleywee widdledidleiddlewiddle weowwhh.
  11. Went great, , even though we were on first, but it did mean we got a soundcheck. The place filled up well quickly, so there was plenty atmosphere, and the whole night was good banter.Yet to play a bad gig in the weej (yes there is some timber at hand), heres hoping it stays that way! Carnage factor; relatively low.
  12. All I can say is thank fuck, the alternative was too awful to contemplate. Got a bit of the fear at the Putney result (6% swing!!), but was glad to see that it turned out alright for the country in the end, and we are not now ruled by the posho squirearchy again, hoorah what. Best post-election bit so far? Otis Ferry's petulant bubbly at Tony Blair, "I've had enough of this government". Well young over-privileged huntsmaster, thats what a democratic mandate is all about, I didn't want Maggie Thatcher or John Major, hope you get put in jail with the dodgers, imbecile.
  13. Oh yeah, and Nile Rodgers fae Chic. Genius.
  14. Aye we'll all fuckin know about it on friday morning if we get up and fascisto Howard is in No10. Make sure it never happens. At least our parly would shield us a bit, in fact I reckon the SNP would secretly prefer the Tories to win tomorrow, as it would lead to much friction between Westminster & Holyrood, friction that could be used. Now while that may be good political entertainment, I don't think it would be good for the country.
  15. I'd maybe apologise to a cow if the whole world went vegan, and all the cows get killed to make room for more crops, until then, no.
  16. For comparisons sake, the TV series is being repeated tonight on BBC2, nice 1.
  17. As a part of Triptych, alongdide Kenny Hawke, Harri & The McNultys On about 9ish, door only a fiver from 8-10, more after. Sounds good, clear for ignition.
  18. Ah well fair enough, what does it look like now? I remember the white makeover!
  19. Looks like time is not on our side re the mixed set, so will have to go for conventional gaps approach, albeit with quick turnaround. Will still aim to ignite.
  20. There is no Pelican, last I knew the owners of the metro did not have the rights to that name, thats why it became the Subway for a while, has this changed? Good old Peli.
  21. Too many people with not enough experience of what a Tory government really means. There was an interesting article in Guardian online today predicting a groundswell of opinion in favour of PR, as a means of shaking up the current feeling of disenfranchisement. When that happens there are a couple of alternatives I would consider to voting Labour, but until then I have to opt for whoever is most likely to keep the Tories out of power They can be alright on an individual basis, but collectively they sum up everything bad about the UK.
  22. Well at least it was visually really good, especially Heart of Gold and the Magrethea scenes, and I was making allowances. It was only one book condensed though, not 5. Not as good as it could of been, but not as bad either.
  23. Hmm, some of the feel of te book was there, but certain liberties have been taken with plotlines. Arthur & Ford v good,as for Zaphod, the guy on the TV series was funnier. Look out for the original Marvin in a cameo appearance. Come to think of it the original Marvin voice was better too, oh well. Star Wars soon.
