  1. Yeah man, Steve was always there, but he's a rutter, not a strutter, of course here is where I point out that it wasn't A.K.A. the Fox then, but some awful name I can't bring myself to repeat, the 1st as AKA was round 1 BOB @ Drummonds. I saw the gig at the Moorings, and I could hardly see Steve or Tina, or much of anything to be honest, that was some other band in my eyes. Good night though.
  2. I Know, funny that. Next gig is Sun 1st May@SNAFU, part of the Triptych thing, on quite early I think, will update when I know. Then there is Sun 8th May, King Tuts, T Break Heats, followed by Fri 21st@Drummonds, with Strobing Goat and Wildhouse fae Dundee. Hope y'all come down, and big up the cool auntie massif.
  3. The Allman Brothers Band 'Brothers and Sisters' Loads of Sly and Funkadelic Exile on Main St & Beggars Banquet Whatever is on at a proper beach/forest/castle party.
  4. Well done the Goat, but if I were them I would be going mental at people constantly adding that extra 'b' to their name. Perhaps if there was a word Stobbing, to Strobb, it would be understandable, but there isn't, so it's not.
  5. The great thing about modern technology is the proliferation of things that, for whatever specific reason, were prohibited from commercial release, and not always by the artists that released them. In my case the 2 banned items I wasn't meant to hear/see are 1-'1987: What the Fucks Going On' by the Justified Ancients of MuMu. Banned by ABBA, and if you have ever heard it, you know what I mean. Genius in places, trying in others, the first time I heard it was at a Student party when I was 18, and 'The Queen and I' had stuck in my head somewhere until I got a tape of it 5 years ago, and a CD this year. 2-'Cocksucker Blues' Rolling Stones. As a long-term Stones fiend I really wanted to see this legendary film of the '72 US tour, but the story is that the director is only allowed to show it once a year to an invited audience. Now I have seen it, it is well good, but the sex n drugs shock horror element is tamer than the average episode of Shameless, well almost. The track of the same name is just really, deliberately bad, so if you haven't heard it, you are missing nothing, except a few chuckles. Anyway what other banned delights have people found resurfacing on the net, are they worth the fuss, were they just shite to begin with? etcl
  6. The evidence on these boards does not point to a great deal of open mindedness, with honourable exceptions, I think people are overrating their tolerance, try and think how much you think is pish. I like quite a lot of stuff, but still only come in at about 6 or 7 tops due to blind spots concerning; Country (& Western), 99.9 % of Folk Music, Classical/Baroque/Romantic/Opera etc, Brass Bands Choirs etc Cheese Dance (hardhouse/handbag/hardbag/happyhardcore/hardtrance ad infinitum-to the point where most people think that is what dance music is all about) Middle-aged soft rock shite, the Slavishly Retro, and, eh, quite a lot else. I am under no illusions that just because I like Reggae & Dub, Funk, Rock n Roll(covers a lot of bands in my eyes), Jungle, Hip Hop, Techno/Breaks/Electro/House, Soul and a lot of miscellaneous random stuff, means that I am especially open minded, the best solution must be to check out as much as possible. Mind you when I was 18 I was about a 1 or 2.
  7. Ha' date=' wasting your time here mate, we are below most people's radar on these boards, feel free to contact us on [email']akathefox@hotmail.com about anything. There will be recordings available on limited-ish release soon. Skuzzlebutt said he would send you a copy of an MP3 soon so hope that gets through. Glad you liked it, was a good night, and the artists managed to break even. The Chateau/Brunswick Hotel party was proper decadence, most surreal moment was seeing Alex Kapranos playing Swingball with his mates in room in the Penthouse, indoor 70's sports the new rock n roll!? Seriously it was a fuckin great night, for music and socialising, as we were finished by 10:20 or so, could proceed on a decidedly uptempo evening.
  8. I thought it was Compo from 'Last of the Summer Wine, in arty B&W.
  9. HMMM, A tag team of Jimmy Miller (Stones 68-73). Andre 3000 and King Tubby on the controls if money/mortality was no object. Or DJ Shadow.
  10. B,B,BBBBummp (remix) Glasgow gig pretty much sold out now,is taking over the whole hotel! We are now on about 9.30, not first anymore, too noisy to open the night I think. Come to the Lemon Tree, we are playing almost everything we have.
  11. A piece of trenchantly observed wit is fine, but music that's designed to be funny can take it's big red clown nose and shove it up its arse. Death Metal is surely inherently funny for the gap between its image/subject material, and its practitioners.(Gorgorgorgoroth the Arse budgeoner-In reality some uber polite wee guy called Colin or something) Life is funny enough without some cunt's 'comedy' numbers. I would say humbug, but its not the season for that.
  12. Puddock-a frog Rajj/Radge When I was at school someone could be described as taking a feejee(fiji??)-ie. to go mental We Scots have a lot of words for going ballistic, funny that.
  13. The only problem is if you have two much spoken word stuff it can get nippy, especially as i have the entire 13 part BBC radio adaptation of Lord of the Rings on mine, and an audio version of Fear & Loathing..., but sometimes it will just give you a brilliant mix, with tunes effortly segueing together*blah blah "going on a journey" blah*
  14. Big up the Diamond Head massive, Canterbury is a well underrated album.
  15. Oh I will check this one out, as it stinks of shit, and does not take into account artistic influence, the problems of working in cast metal, or indeed historical accuracy.
  16. Couple of gigs are now imminent Thursday April 14th @ Lemon Tree. In conjunction with some art, A.K.A. the Fox, Root Down, Nathan acoustic. Friday April 15th-Get A Room@ Brunswick Hotel, Glasgow. Charity gig for Oxfam, details on www.chateaugateau.co.uk/ We have been added to the bill very much last minute, and are 1st on=1st on the batter! I've stayed at the Brunswick..nice as. Sunday 1st May.Triptych@SNAFU, We are on before Harri of Sub Club fame, could be time to replay the mixed set-no gaps for 25 minutes, that we did at New Year there. Probably a bit clubby for many readers of these boards, it was an intense, heaving sweatbox at hogmanay, Brilliant.
