  1. I think that is rather missing the point, internationalism is best understood as being beyond nationalism, realising a common humanity that we share with everyone. The more benign forms of nationalism can be catalysts for positivity, but far more often it is bitter and divisive, trying to tell us that they (insert 'chosen' people here) are superior to some other bunch of jumped up apes elswhere, purely on terms of ethnicity/geographical location/because the Ur-Monkey said it was so. Mr Lydon said it best; "We're just another country"
  2. Don't forget, that anyone trying to confuse asylum issues with immigration policy is, at best, a CRYPTO-FASCIST, and at worst, NAZI SCUM. Asylum-people seeking shelter, as their homeland is repressing them, trying to kill them. I say-Let em all In, anyone who has the nous and talent to get themselves out of a situation like that is EXACTLY the sort of driven person that would benefit the country. Immigration-When people eventually wake up to the fact that this is an ageing country, not the hip, happenin land of yoof seen on telly, then we will realise that we need immigration desparately. I say-Let em all in, I think that the UK must have been a much duller place without immigrants from all over, and we NEED them now. Michael Howard is a national disgrace, son of an immigrant himself, now making it that much harder for them, evil bastard
  3. Never forget that the Tories are morally bankrupt and inherently evil, though some individuals are good people, collectively they are a force for ill in the UK.
  4. I try not to be negative, but they are one of the worst fuckin bands ever. Excessive reverence for the past, pah I hates em. Nothing personal.
  5. Is that your Finest or Darkest Hour? *hopes hunch is correct*
  6. A couple of years ago an American gentleman found himself the victim of harassment and death threats, from people blaming him for crop failure and weather patterns. His name was Al Nino.
  7. check out the MIA/Diplo link above if you haven't heard it, covers at least 5 of the above at various stages.
  8. Its a question of scale and skill. PC 500-1000, soundcard 150-500, software free-infinite cost, good enough mic 150-1000. Its the time & patience getting to learn the gear that is the real investment, hence the situation you described above. Its different cost involved in creating live rooms and, especially, recording drum kits. Vocals also would be at the mercy of the room sound, thats where the work comes into play. Our recent stuff was all recorded in a top floor flat, lucky the neighbours weren't complainers!
  9. Home is the best place to record, if you have the skills, although drumkits should be recorded in a studio unless you really know your shit. I suppose it's different for us, as Steve and I both have about 7 years of home recording experience, and our producer Mikey has the same, (but he has 3 co-productions released in the last year). But it really is worth learning those skills if you can, it makes you free.
  10. Can't beat a bit of cross-genre action, Piracy Funds Terrorism I think I will buy her album, when out.

  13. Not the kind of jumper that makes you itches?
  14. Well personally my most expensive guitar ever cost 215, in 1989 (Kramer Striker ST100) + 80 for an EMG humbucker, and currently my multi FX unit is my priciest piece of gear (210, haggled down 20), but we have played with a lot of bands with MUCH more expensive gear, and have blatantly outperformed them, usually because it's all about the songs and the sound, not the gear. Some local bands with expensive gear are good, many are dull, but skint people are hungrier, literally, and that can make for better entertainment.
  15. On the point, Aberdeen Uni is great, I loved my 5 (doh) years there, as long as you're doing something you can get into, you'll love it. On the other hand I now want to leave Aberdeen so much right now, it will always be the single most important formative influence on my life (and my teams will only ever be Aberdeen & Scotland), but I've always lived here and it really is time for me to get the fuck out of the place. As for Glasgow, it depends on what you want from a city. Many more gigs/clubs/galleries/add category of your choice to go to, less claustrophobic incestuous social circuit, general socio-cultural liberalism and vitality v/s more grimy, closer to a much larger degree of deprivation, sectarianism, everybody thinks they are a comedian. Aberdeen is that bit more conservative, but great in its own way, it all depends on how itchy you are for a change, good times will be had in both places.
  16. The thought of making a spelling mistake in public mortifys me
  17. I Loved 'Get Yer Head Down' on Ninja Cuts II: Flexistentialism, quite interested in what he's up to now
  18. To be fair, the dude did probably think it was just a forum about the BOB, perhaps not noticing where it was situated. Then again it is your forum, and you can tell whomsoever you wish to get to fuck.
  19. Yeah, fuck that muddy humbucker shit, you get more cutting sounds from a single coil, as well as clean ones.
  20. Is that the 'Roads to European Integration' with Rene Lebouette? I failed that one, must have only been to about 6 lectures, well it was at 11am! Theoretically interesting until you start having to research it.
