  1. This Saturday! Fans of Bad Religion, Pennywise, Sick of It All, H2o, get down to see Chief, one of the UK's finest. They are on the same label that gave us Capdown, Five Knuckle, Adequate 7 etc so you know they will be good. And if you like those bands, get down early also, for the first Escape to Victory gig in agesss!
  2. This Sat, melodic hardcore punk from Liverpool's CHIEF! CHIEF :: EXPOSURES TOUR UK :: DATES UP :: on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads For fans of Bad Religion, Pennywise, Sick of It All etc. They are signed to Household Name Records which has been the home of the likes of Capdown, Five Knuckle and most of the best punk/ska bands the UK has produced in the last 10 years... support from Edinburgh's SHIELDS UP, Aberdeen hardcore supergroup SHINER and the return of ESCAPE TO VICTORY
  3. I always thought Capdown were rubbish live (or maybe it was just all their later material that was rubbish) lucky for them they always had good tour supports to get me back
  4. I love Arctic Monkeys but hated them live at AECC but I'll put that down to being stood amongst a crowd of absolute morons. They weren't much special to watch really either although I've got the Live in Texas LP and that is good so I'll forgive them. I saw Fran Healy busking once and was actually amazed at how good his voice was even though I find everything Travis did after their first album very boring. The King Blues never managed to capture their raw energy on the first album that I've seen so many times live. I think they actually went and re-recorded it though when they moved to Island so they must have realised that too.
  5. No sir, I love Maiden (including and especially Blaze Bayley era Maiden) and Smashing Pumpkins. Which may not say a lot about my tastes...
  6. They need Janick Gers to have a synchronised fight with giant Eddie non?
  7. He said "supported". They were main support for them in Glasgow in 2008.
  8. RSVP here should you wish: Login | Facebook This is the first GFN? gig at the Moorings since December 2005 in which Certain Death, Atomgevitter and The Butchers of Bakersfield (debut gig) played. I am very excited
  9. GFN? presents... CHIEF (Household Name Records): Not the folky lot from USA (but hopefully we got your attention). Chief are five young gentlemen from in and around Liverpool that play FAST/FUN/POSITIVE/MUSIC! "Politically-fuelled, incredibly energetic, raw, fast and loud -- all great foundations for a hardcore punk band; tie that in with Chief's formula and you have something very exciting on your hands. This isn't a band ranting and raving because they're pissed off -- it's frustration with society, politics and the world trying to succeed with a positive message backed up with unique, heavy, hard-hitting music with melodic backing vocals or further frustration through group shouts that, live, take a stranglehold upon everyone to shout along." - Punknews.org CHIEF ::TOUR DATES ADDED :: on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads SHIELDS UP Postitive hardcore from Edinburgh featuring members of Today We Fight, Bencozine and Taking Chase. SHIELDS UP on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads ESCAPE TO VICTORY First gig since February back with a new line-up. In-yer-face positive melodic hardcore punk Escape To Victory on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads SHINER Excellent HC featuring members of My Minds Weapon, Clearer the Sky and Escape Today SHINER on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads @ The Moorings Bar Saturday 31st July 2010 8pm til late, 3 entry over 18s only
  10. We get tons of these messages at the GFN? myspace and I ignore most of them because the message says nothing. I don't know what your band is even called, I dont know what kind of music you play, where you are from, anything. If your unheard of then you need the promoter/venue more than he probably needs you so put some effort in and sell yourself.
  11. We've cancelled twice but first time our singer broke his ankle and 2nd our guitarist left so we've got pretty good reasons I reckon I know how you feel though. I've had 6 bands (including my own) pull out of the 3 gigs I've put on this year and it feels like there is so no point to even bothering spending ages putting together a poster and putting them up around town because they are never going to be right
  12. HoHo George Burley announced as the new Crystal Palace manager. But with Steve Cotterill off to Portsmouth, I fear Hull are going to end up with Paul Hart. Why do bad managers keep getting work, at least Dowie was likeable but Hart! Grrr.
  13. Nice little feature on Laura in yesterday's Evening Express, although to clarify - this is a solo show, not with her backing band The Cans. Should be excellent!
  14. This is even worse then your Feugh Fest post. Haven't you realised by now that no one is impressed?
  15. I was celebrating the first time a Hull City player has played in a World Cup even if it was Richard Garcia. I thought Aussies were unlucky really, Germany were excellent but Cahill's sending off was harsh and thought they played ok until then
  16. What time will be Drummonds be open with tickets?
  17. Fans of punk collective Bomb the Music Industry may want to come down to check out Laura Stevenson as she is an occasional member, although her solo stuff is very different
  18. Can anyone confirm if One-Up has/will have tickets?
  19. Any non-Aberdeen-Music users (Guests) interested can e-mail me at kirk_burton@hotmail.co.uk
  20. I've got 6 extra tickets for Paul McCartney at Hampden on Sunday June 20th for sale due to miscommunication between our group, and we now have 12 tickets for the 6 of us. The tickets are for BLK H, Row G, Seats 25-20 and have a face value of 70 (plus paid a booking fee of 7.50 per ticket) I'm looking to sell them for the face value per ticket in either a set of 2, 4 or 6 but feel free to make me an offer also. If your interested please send PM, thanks
  21. Speaking of Wobble, there's a very PiL like new song he has recorded for England for the World Cup free for download from his website
  22. Nice! Any programming jobs going at Warehouse?
  23. I've been really enjoying some Fela Kuti lately. I also picked up a very good compilation called Nigeria Special 68- 74. I was drawn in by the cover design, excellent sleevenotes too. It's on the Soundways record label so have got a lot of similar stuff out. I'm not into a lot of the African stuff that is big just now although Tounami Diabate is great. I also downloaded a track by The Budos Band (I presume their Cuban, although I may be wrong and they could just be Latino-New Yorkers) which I very much enjoyed.
  24. Astral Planes is the worst Smashing Pumpkins song to date. Shame cos it all started so promising when Song for A Son came out
