  1. Thanks for all the comments. 2nd last chance to see us live tomorrow at the tunnels! Laid back acoustic set full o' fun...
  2. All is explained here: http://www.aberdeen-music.com/forums/news-announcements/53028-onion-terror-calling-day.html Hopefully see a heap of you folks at the gig tonight.
  3. Its true, its true! After almost 9 years of pop-punking around the North East, Onion Terror will be getting chopped up as of February 2009. Stuart, Stuart and myself are all very sad to see this and would also like to give a big shout to Steven Fraser & Andrew Coutts for their time in the past too. With practices becoming harder to schedule and having to turn down some great gigs it seems better for us to go out now, than to keep flogging the same set and dying away slowly over a few more years. Weve had an ace time playing venues, pubs, cellars, parties, radio stations and a ton of other places throughout the years and would like to thank every single person that came to all of our gigs and sang, clapped, booed, danced, competed in challenges or - most likely: got shit-faced. Id like to thank the Fudge guys especially for having bags o faith in us; from our first scene gig (Deadloss E.P. Launch at Dr Drakes) to playing Birthday Bashes and Awards. Theyve done so much for local bands and its only fitting that our last gig will be a fudge night. For now: were going to be recording our latest set of songs throughout January for one last CD/EP and releasing it (although probably after the last gig). We also plan to record our last gig and release it in alongside the last CD - depending on how long it will take to mix. For the future; well probably all pick up other projects in one form or another, but there are still a few more chances to catch us ripping up a stage - these will be... Tonight (11th Dec 2009); at the Tunnels with Avoid The Morning and open mic legend Scott Ironside. 3, with a free Onion Terror X-mass CD on the door. Opens at 8pm. Sunday (14th Dec 2009); Tunnels with I am not left handed (from Ireland), Sarah Tingle & Fiona Kennan and Paul Cuthbert. 3 and doors at 8pm. Monday 23rd Dec 2009; Shmu FM Christmas bash TBC. And our Last Ever Gig: 31st January 2009 The Moorings Bar Fudgenight. With Scunner / Bronto Skylift / Escape to Victory! 3 entry ? First act on at 8:30pm After that, you may catch us playing one-off gigs, but we will no longer be actively practicing / gigging / baptising / competitively breeding / snorkeling / participating in dog shows or breastfeeding. It's been a hoot!
  4. Can it be true... Is the end nigh...
  5. One of the last chances you'll have to see the Onion Terror!!! Tunnels - Thursday - 3
  6. That was an amazing gig for the atom on Saturday! Ace live show: good to see Joe abusing the wirelessness of his mic (reminded me of him getting locked outside Drakes for 3 songs back-in-the-day), and the generally huge sound of 3 guitars, bass, drums & metal vocals. The individual sound of each instrument was brutal and the mix out front was very good; I hope it was recorded / getting released as a live mix!! Highlights for me were the 3 Out of Exile tracks for pure sing-a-long ability, and the riffage of the new material. Won't be able to catch the last ever gig but was as good a send off as any. How long will we have to wait for a reunion show... ?
  7. I felt totally cheated when I left this last night. Having watched - and pretty much memorised - the "Man Who Thinks He's It" (1998) video / DVD there were just so many similarities that it felt a bit like a half-hearted upgrade. Paula Calf was pretty crap until she read her story. Saxondale just felt like a watered down Partridge (with the presentation), Paul Calf was only alright and Duncan Thicket was literally just a few new lines. Partridge was alright, but didn't think much of the English history lesson and the last song seemed to serve no other purpose than to massage Coogan's ego. On a side note; why the fuck does he insist on singing shitty songs, he's not a good singer and none of them are EVER that funny. Not worth 33 a ticket; especially when folk like Russel Howard, who was absolutely phenomenal on Friday, charged 16 and brought the house down. I think it's a bit of a shame because Coogan is (or at least used to be) a decent enough comedian, it's just that +95% of his fans just can't see past partridge - which has become his bread and butter.
  8. I've heard that he's been boo'd off several performances on the tour. I'm still looking forward to it but it sounds like he's grasping at straws as he's been wanting to drop partridge for years but just can't afford to let the character go as he's still the most famous one (the tour's called "Alan Partridge and other Less Successful Characters") Alan Partridge's less successful show - Features, Comedy - The Independent Nothing to laugh at for Steve Coogans angry fans - Liverpool Daily Post.co.uk Reviews roundup: Steve Coogan is Alan Partridge and Other Less Successful Characters | Stage | guardian.co.uk Not a single decent review though...
  9. Frosty Jack.. Moderator... LOL
  10. It was pretty good. Bit strange not having it set in LA, but made for a decent change. Favourite part was his rambo moment in the trees! That was phenomenal(ly funny). Tee'd up season 7 brilliantly by introducing some of the main characters... except ALMEDA! Only complaint was that there was a lot going on in the space of two hours. Thought they could have used the feature to break from real-time and get some proper location madness on the go. Can't wait for the new season!
  11. Had its good and bad bits. The story was fairly decent, but jumped around a lot. The action scenes should have been amazing, but were so poorly edited that it was just disorientating. Both bond girls were smoking, but never really got a proper entrance or scene. The baddies were so shit it was unreal, the main guy was just a corrupt businessman and bent politicians are a fact of life. No gadgets, except a shitty super-computer in M's bathroom! Overall it could (and should) have been brilliant but you get the feeling they're trying to make it too realistic, especially with the lack of gadgets, cars, EVIL villains, and bikini-clad wifeys everywhere. The writer's seem to have forgotten than this is what made bond great.
  12. Was a bit let down by the end of season 4 but only because panda face claimed it was traumatising! Definately keeps going from strength to strength, especially as you watch characters grow and develop over the seasons. Season five is a must, although it appears to be the last season without question, which makes me sad. I can sense a hole in my life once five has been demolished. Still without question one of the greatest shows to hit the telly.
  13. Not exactly down with every band playing at the moment but the best one that springs to mind is Trees On Fire by Ten Easy Wishes. Cutest guitar part EVAR.
  14. We've done the 8 hours for 120-ish deal a couple of times at Cap'n toms. Definately up to a standard fit for local release and the more you know about the recording process and the tighter your band are I imagine you could get two or three tracks sounding great in the alloted time. We've done them both with Paul DiNero and he's a total legend. Knows his stuff and is a fair whiz on the mixing desk. Onion Terror - Myspace 'Hangover' was from the first set, and the rest are all from the 2nd one.
  15. Good shout on being at Whistle Binkies in the first place!! Every person I know from Edinburgh hasn't heard of it, and its a goldmine for ace music. Once saw a covers band fronted by an intense, one-armed, blonde goth there.
  16. Not necessarily faster, however, I've found that running to something with a heavy and steady rythm (like metal / dance) increases my stamina by around 40%. When you'd normally stop through fatigue / breathlessness it just keeps you going, and going. Erol Alkan, Justice, 2manyDjs and Rob Zombie's re-mix albums are all brilliant for the big jogs.
  17. My favourite running tunes at the moment are: Justice - D.A.N.C.E. Against Me - Stop Killswitch Engage - Rose Of Sharyn Stone Sour - Come What(ever) May Rammstein - Ich Will / Links 234 Foo Fighters - Good Grief Sash - Encore Une Fois Andrew WK - Girls Own Love Mostly Dance / Metal with a pounding, steady, bass drum. Good thread, any more ace workout songs would be brilliant
  18. Just wondering what websites / newspapers / bulletin boards etc are the best for finding good local jobs in the Industry sector up here in Aberdeen?
  19. Tried and tested acoustic set? Solo pop-come-comedy songs? PM for contact details...
  20. I'm glad my eyes can't vomit!!! This is probably one of the worst announcements in cinema history... Although there's been a identical (almost scene for scene) re-make from bollywood already: Zinda Synopsis: "Balajeet is kidnapped, and when he wakes up he is in a steel cell. Everyday plates of fried dumplings are pushed through a slot in the door; he sees no one, no one talks to him. He has nothing in his cell but a TV. Fourteen years of solitary confinement, and he doesn't have a clue why...and then one day, as suddenly as he was imprisoned, he is let loose. And he has four days to find out why."
  21. But you're already in FIVE bands?!?!?!?!?
  22. Acoustic sing-a-long pop... tried and tested for over 5 years. Ready, willing and able! Clicky click
  23. You have the word 'Wank' in your name... Tee hee! Nice avatar though.
