scottyboy
Because the Artic Monkeys sound like a shite teenage cover band.
MattJimF
I think the Article Monkeys are the current Oasis, where everyone was doing their songs because they thought the sun shone out of their arses.
Paranoid Android
Maybe because they have 5 fantastic albums!
colb
I used them in my comment because the OP did. Never heard a band cover them either. 5 albums is a fair body of work, i've only heard the first 2. They're decent enough, first one reminds me a bit of The Wedding Present. MattJimF
I've nothing against Artic Monkeys, just that they seem to be the darlings of the music industry, much like Oasis were at their height and everyone seemed to be playing their songs. Does that dude still play Oasis songs at Trinity centre on a Friday/Saturday night?
Paranoid Android
I didn't realise The Arctic Monkeys were still the darlings. The newest album was quite well recieved I suppose. I remember everyone being nuts about them when their first album came out, politicians pretending to like them to seem cool etc. Moon moon and his pals would have been listening to bob the builder or whatever at the time though. I didn't realise they'd remained cool with the kids. Anyway I've sidetracked this conversation enough. Back to the Aberdeen music scene, has something replaced Snafu yet? TR!ΔNGL€ T€€TH
Back to the Aberdeen music scene, has something replaced Snafu yet?I think that some of the promoters that were operating in Snafu are using the Tunnels.
brettthain1
Never heard a band covering Arctic Monkeys in my entire life!!!You're joking!?
Adam Easy Wishes
I haven't either. I don't subject to myself to many cover bands, generally, but I've never heard a cover of the Arctic Monkeys - even at a wedding.
Soda Jerk
I too have never heard a band covering the Arctic Monkeys. Unless I just haven't recognised the song, as I can probably only hum one Arctic Monkeys song.
Teabags
I'm sure I've heard an Arctic Monkeys song, but if you asked me to name one of hum one, I have no fucking clue. Sommeone would have to say "this is arctic monkeys" and then I'd go "oh yeah, I've heard that." So I probably haven't heard anyone covering them. But I am a vagina, and only good for getting pounded into.
Bigsby
Bet You Look Good on The Dance Floor. The one Arctic Monkey's song I know. But I know lots of Monkees songs, so it all balances out.

Monster Zero
What sort of bands represent the "mod/rock/swagger/tunes vibe"?

brettthain1
We do. And swag as in 'oasis swaggers' and not the 'yolo, $wag' by the way! Edited June 7, 2014 by brettthain1

James Broonbreed
It's like an all in one sort of thing we've got going on! To be fair, it sounds completely shite. Like an all in one, on stop shop for shiteness.
Moon Moon
We do. And swag as in 'oasis swaggers' and not the 'yolo, $wag' by the way!okay mate right now I don't know what to think. My band does some oasis covers but were far from "swaggers". Your Idea of the Aberdeen music scene is unfounded and completely moronic.

Your Idea of the Aberdeen music scene is unfounded and completely moronic.Oasis were a bad band, but I think there's no argument that Liam Gallagher had a fair amount of swagger about him. I imagine that there is no swagger about any Oasis covers your band plays. Going off the video you posted the life and joy is sucked right out of any song you play 1

Your Idea of the Aberdeen music scene is unfounded and completely moronic.I thought you said there's more to the Aberdeen music scene? This is sort of music we play, we listen to, have a laugh with. The 'swagger' is part of the 'rock n roll' vibe, we're just lads! The swagger isn't for prick-ness, it's for fun.
