captain burrito
The commentary on the BBC highlights of the SPL, are they recorded at the time of the match or recorded as the pundit watches the highlights?
Adam Easy Wishes
The commentary on the BBC highlights of the SPL, are they recorded at the time of the match or recorded as the pundit watches the highlights?I imagine they're recorded afterwards (as the pundit watches the highlights), especially as often the commentator is the same for every game. Alkaline
Where are all the jobs? I'm at a loss for job hunting.Apparently Aberdeen is one of the top 5 cities in the UK for jobs. I'm not sure what sort of jobs, but there are supposed to be jobs out there.
captain burrito
That must be oil and gas jobs that have caused Aberdeen to be in the top 5.
Alkaline
That must be oil and gas jobs that have caused Aberdeen to be in the top 5.Possibly, but i don't see loads of them advertised. It's a strange one.
captain burrito
In the EE on a Wednesday or the P&J on a Friday, their job sections are furnished in the majority by oil and gas jobs, as well as their respective sectors. However, if you don't look there, then you won't see them. Catch 22.

I think people advertise elsewhere, online etc.
Guest idol_wild
Agencies.Oil companies recruit heavily via employment agencies.Try Right People Recruitment Solutions, Office Angels, or AAA. They all got me work, and indeed Right People Recruitment frequently contact me about jobs they feel I am suited for, and I don't even live in Aberdeen! Chris
While job hunting over the last few months I think I've looked in the P&J jobs pages about twice. All the jobs I'd be interested in are advertised through agencies, online portals like s1jobs or by the companies directly.Definitely jobs going though but I guess it depends on what you're looking for. Adam Easy Wishes
Thorpe Molloy are also a decent agency to try (again, depending on what you're after, obv).
Soda Jerk
Possibly, but i don't see loads of them advertised. It's a strange one.Have you looked at jobs elsewhere though? I look at jobs back home all the time, and there's just nothing at all compared to up here, even though alot of the jobs that are going up here, I'm not really able to and/or want to do. Hugh_Jazz
Possibly, but i don't see loads of them advertised. It's a strange one. They are advertised, by the shedload, just not in the P&J. Specialist agencies are being used to recruit for the majority of positions.Main reason is that the industry has reduced it's graduate intake over the last few years and is instead looking for high calibre guys with tonnes of experience, who are often headhunted, or may not be based in this area, and hence not part of the P&J's readership. Given the age profile of the industry is very skewed towards old farts, it's a shame, but that's the reality. When I graduated, 100% of my MSc class got employment.....despite it being 1999 when the oil price was less than $10/barrel. Now it's over $110 and grads are really struggling.....go figure.

Soda Jerk
I wouldn't expect to see tons of oil jobs advertised in Sheffield or wherever though.I meant jobs in general, not just Oil jobs. Job pages and the like in Yorkshire seem pretty depleted when I've been looking the past few months. The market is a fair bit healthier up here at the moment, it seems. It's all driven by the need to fast-track projects, hence getting in staff who can hit the ground running. The industry is pretty vibrant at the moment (high oil price, plenty of drilling activity), so everything else being equal, grads should have a good chance of getting work....unfortunately, things are not equal. Guest dopethrone
I am already with about 5 or 6 agencies. However, after applying for a job LAST NIGHT, I got a phone call TODAY offering me an interview TOMORROW.Either I'm perfect for the job, or literally nobody else has applied.
