Swingin' Ryan
Joanna Newsom - YsCamera Obscura - Let's Get Out Of This CountryGoldfrapp - Felt MountainThe Concretes - S/TBelle and Sebastian - The Life PursuitThat's my instinctive top five. There's also been a number of albums released this year that could slowly work their way into my all time favourites. I'd go on record as saying 2009 has been one of the best, if not the best year for music in the 00's and it's only July.

ca_gere
Capdown - Civil DisobedientsAdd that to my list. Thought that came out in 99. It's still one album of mine that gets passed on to anyone who'll sit and listen to me talk about music I like and I've yet to meet someone who doesn't like it after giving it a listen. It's still one album of mine that gets passed on to anyone who'll sit and listen to me talk about music I like and I've yet to meet someone who doesn't like it after giving it a listen. It was released on May 22nd, 2000, so just barely in the '00s.Although I did like a fair few of them, Capdown were well ahead of every other band who was prominent in the UK Ska Punk scene back in the day. Amazing live too.
Soda Jerk
Capdown were one of the first bands I ever saw. One of the worst bands I've ever heard. I've never heard them on record because of it.

Amazing live too.Streaks ahead. Seemed to be a bit of a half arsed movement with a lot of bands just adding a few horns and chicka chicka rhythms to basic punk songs. Capdown made it their own though. Brilliant live. Even the last time I saw them at Moshulu was excellent.

ca_gere
ooh, whats that like, Krush is ace.More accessible than a lot of his other stuff. Some great rap/vocals and more melodic samples/loops etc. His other albums you'd maybe have to like squidgy, noisy trip hop to appreciate but this one has a bit of everything. , the first track is one of the greatest pieces of electronic music ever in my opinion, it's the trip hop equivelent of one of those classical pieces that have three distinct movements. It's full of noises that pushed to the verge of being unpleasant to listen to but are manipulated in just the right way so as to be... well... awesome.Im no expert. Just get it. Good tunes.
