Best albums of '00s

Any thoughts on the best albums (I'm old!) of the '00s (so far anyway?)

My faves:

Thrash: The Haunted Made Me Do It - The Haunted (this could be considered death/thrash)

Death Metal: Gateways To Annihilation - Morbid Angel

Black Metal: With No Human Intervention - Aborym

Grindcore: Altered States of America - Agoraphobic Nosebleed (though this may change with repeated listens of Agorapocalypse.. I love ANb!!!)

Punk/Emo: The Artist In The Ambulance - Thrice/ December Underground - AFI

Hardcore/Metalcore: Alive or Just Breathing - Killswitch Engage/ Perseverance - Hatebreed

Deathcore: The Healing Process - Despised Icon

Indie: Razorlight - Razorlight (yes... I know this one's a bit weird)

Guilty Pleasure: Beautiful World - Take That (this one's even weirder!!!)

This thread is very similar, but is two years old. It will be good see how peoples' views have changed actually.

My wilderness years from the boards may explain my not knowing this.... ?(

I still think it will be cool to find out what people think have been the best albums of this decade though, even if to confirm my shite taste in music.

Joanna Newsom - Ys

Camera Obscura - Let's Get Out Of This Country

Goldfrapp - Felt Mountain

The Concretes - S/T

Belle and Sebastian - The Life Pursuit

That's my instinctive top five. There's also been a number of albums released this year that could slowly work their way into my all time favourites. I'd go on record as saying 2009 has been one of the best, if not the best year for music in the 00's and it's only July.

Capdown - Civil Disobedients

Add that to my list. Thought that came out in 99. It's still one album of mine that gets passed on to anyone who'll sit and listen to me talk about music I like and I've yet to meet someone who doesn't like it after giving it a listen.

It was released on May 22nd, 2000, so just barely in the '00s.

Although I did like a fair few of them, Capdown were well ahead of every other band who was prominent in the UK Ska Punk scene back in the day. Amazing live too.

Streaks ahead. Seemed to be a bit of a half arsed movement with a lot of bands just adding a few horns and chicka chicka rhythms to basic punk songs. Capdown made it their own though. Brilliant live. Even the last time I saw them at Moshulu was excellent.

ooh, whats that like, Krush is ace.

More accessible than a lot of his other stuff. Some great rap/vocals and more melodic samples/loops etc. His other albums you'd maybe have to like squidgy, noisy trip hop to appreciate but this one has a bit of everything.

, the first track is one of the greatest pieces of electronic music ever in my opinion, it's the trip hop equivelent of one of those classical pieces that have three distinct movements. It's full of noises that pushed to the verge of being unpleasant to listen to but are manipulated in just the right way so as to be... well... awesome.

Im no expert. Just get it. Good tunes.

Hatebreed - Perseverance and The Rise of Brutality

Marilyn Manson - Holy Wood (In the Shadow of the Valley of Death)
