Sam 45
I'm getting an affinty tele for xmas. What would I have to do to make it just a regular squire tele?Or, maybe go for one of these:http://www.thomann.de/gb/fender_modern_player_tele_plus_mn_ch.htm
Jaaakkkeee
For a main present? The money you would spend upgrading it you'd be better off just getting a standard one dude.Affinty's are coming in at £154 and the standards are £209.that's the thing. it's being bought for me. so she canna afford the £209 model. I don't mind putting money in to it. Yes, it's the main present.Or, maybe go for one of these:http://www.thomann.de/gb/fender_modern_player_tele_plus_mn_ch.htmto pricey. the affinity is half the price! cheers though! Jaaakkkeee
FWIW those moden player's guitars are the mutts nuts! I played the MP Jaguar bass in II and fell in love.xxaye, i can believe it. But it's the price. And it's xmas, i don't want my other half giving me an envelope of money to go towards a gift she couldn't afford. We'd both rather she got me the gift.
Flights
Going by your taste in music a tele with single coil pickups probably isn't the best choice for you. You'd probably be best to get something with humbuckers.
Flights
aye, i can believe it. But it's the price. And it's xmas, i don't want my other half giving me an envelope of money to go towards a gift she couldn't afford. Soda Jerk
Affinity Squiers tend to be a bit toss. Shite wood, poor playability. Not worth it. Squier make some grand gear, but you need to go above the super-budjet stuff usually.

Ross.
Also, why not just look for a used Standard and get her to buy you that instead?
Jaaakkkeee
Flights: I actually love bright sparkling cleans in my music. Also, I like the FEEL of a tele. Love it. Soda Jerk: Fair shout.Ross.: Aye, I might do that. I'll see what she says.
Flights
My used Standard tele was 4 pounds cheaper than a new affinty one. I'll agree that there is something special about tele's. The more I think about it the more I think this should be in the Gear that you want thread.

Stroopy121
There are some non-brand name "replica" guitars that are every bit as good as or way better than low end fenders.xx
Old Gold
I hear that those Starcasters are pretty serious pieces of kit.

Guest davetherave
I've got 3 squiers, all very playable and decent guitars. Though my candy red mex tele with stetsbar is still my fav guitar

Soda Jerk
I had the black version of that Squier Tele Custom. Really good guitar for the money. Those DD pickups were surprisingly great, and the neck was wonderful. Great guitar.
keeno
Just agreed to buy one of these and should be picking it up on Wednesday. Not what I was looking for but seduced by the tone.... Will still be buying that AMT preamp thing and power amp pedal for versatility. It's a Little Rock.
Guest davetherave
Cool looking amp, what cab you using with it?
keeno
Cool looking amp, what cab you using with it?Funnily enough I didn't check this site all day and arranged the sale via facebook, only to realise it was Sam 45's that he listed here earlier So it is staying in the ab-music family!Cab wise, whatever I can afford. Don't have one at the moment so hopefully someone will buy my Ibanez and let me complete the rig! Planning on getting the AMT SS-30 and tube cake (considered the EHX 22 calibre, but probably way too loud and nowhere hear as flexible as the tube cake with regards to brightness/presence controls) and A/Bing that with the Matamp for a super versatile low watt rig. Need the SS-30 for higher gain, tight stuff. Never played a Matamp but I really don't see it excelling at that! However that's fine as the SS-30 seems perfect from the recordings I have heard of it and the Matamp has it's own separate use. Although this is done using a Matamp Little Rock so lets see what it can do boosted with a 7 string, as heinous as that may be to some people here..... Bearing that in mind probably a v30 loaded 2x12. At the moment I can only realistically afford a Harley Benton G212. I know, seems a bit weird sticking an amp like that with a cheapo cab but it will do til I can get something better!
