Soda Jerk
Listen to Ozma. They still know how to write Weezer songs. If Weezer had written 'Rock and Roll Part 3', it would lauded as the best Weezer album
jon
Ozma and Yes Dear do Weezer better than Weezer have done in years.
Monster Zero
You need Maladroit in your life. It's heading into my life after a squizz on Amazon...as is 'Make Believe'. 1.38 and 0.88 respectively. Even with postage that's less than a fiver. Cool.

jon
Holy moly, that song is not good. The cover also looks like a fat Rivers.
Lemonade
Proof that Weezer are still capable of not taking themseves too seriously: You can stream their whole new album on their Myspace btw:Weezer on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music DownloadsFirst impression: But then I would say that. Mostly chuggy rock with harmonies.
Soda Jerk
New album sounds awful to me, as expected. Does anyone really care about Weezer anymore?
Lemonade
To quote me, a year ago right before Raditude dropped:Wirelessly posted (SonyEricssonK770i/R8BC Browser/NetFront/3.3 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1)Don't stop believing. This album is going to be awesome. Awesome I tell you. Surely even Rivers must have realised Red was pretty cack and head in a different direction for this one. Weezer, to give them their dues, have always listened to the fans first and foremost, and if the fans hated what they did on Red, they surely wouldn't do the same thing again. Quick, someone back me up before all this blind optimism wears off. This still applies, pretty much word for word. *pleasebegoodpleasebegoodpleasebegoodpleasebegoodpleasebegoodpleasebegoodpleasebegoodpleasebegoodpleasebegoodpleasebegoodpleasebegoodpleasebegoodpleasebegood*
givemeasmile
Just listened to all the tunes. Not a great fan but miles better than Raditude or the Red Album. So I guess in that respect I'm not too disappointed. At least they'll be touring Pinkerton and the Blue Album soon.Edit: "Where's my sex" is a definite low point. Lemonade
The Red Album has actually grown on me. I quite like it now. Either it's got better with age, or else it's just that I'm comparing it to Raditude, which was almost unlistenable.
The Kernel Loaf
3rd time lucky then Rathen? Pretty much most of this thread has been you getting excited about a new Weezer album, initial verdict and liking it, then a 3 month delay before reviving the thread and saying how shit the album is. I just can't imagine Rivers Cuomo doesn't think its shite. Almost sounds like hes writing for a crappy childrens tv programme.
Lemonade
First impression is that this record is much better than Raditude at least. The first four tracks are all excellent, the stand-out being "Unspoken", "Trainwrecks" is ace as well. The guitars on all the tracks sound really fuzzy and dirty, like on Blue. Brilliant. Then just when you think it's a return to form, it all goes downhill from track 5, "Where's My Sex", which sounds great musically (4 chords! Fuzz! Harmonies!) but the lyrics are just balls. The reamining 5 are all pretty poor as well, not quite Raditude-poor but poor (though "Smart Girls" as at least fun) and just so...... empty. It just feels like they aren't trying. It falls into the trap of the last 2 albums - opening with a few standout tracks before falling into wanky experimental shit with weird instruments and country and western. The last track is almost unlistenable. The chances of Weezer ever making another great album are minimal, but this one is at least better than the last one, the first four tracks are superb but it falls away alarmingly. With 4, maybe 5 good songs I'd rate it above Raditude, which had 2 good songs, about level with Red, which had 4 good songs, 5 if you count "Automatic". But it doesn't come close to any of their other 5 albums.I'm going to merge the best tracks of the last three albums into one good album, and just listen to that.1 - Troublemaker2 - Pork & Beans3 - The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived4 - Dreamin'5 - If You're Wondering If I Want You To (I Want You To)6 - I'm Your Daddy7 - Memories8 - Ruling Me9 - Trainwrecks10 - UnspokenNow that's a good album.Still, as long as Weezer are recording music, I'll probably never give up on the hope that they might just strike gold one more time. Paranoid Android
That's pretty bad, but even My Chemical Romance can't make a great song like that as bad as the songs Weezer are putting out now.

Lemonade
Time for Lucky's annual backtrack. I've changed my mind about Hurley. I like it now! 9 out of 10 songs are good. My problem has always been comparing their new stuff against their old stuff instead of listening to it on it's own merits. Raditude is still shite though. diarmaid
An offer Weezer shouldn't refuse.Weezer 'offered' $10m to split up | Music | guardian.co.ukPretty offensive to the band I imagine, but the chaps right. They are now just shite and getting worse.
Paranoid Android
The drummer said thy'd do it for $20m, which at least showed a sense of humour unlike the weezer fans who have since sent death threats to the guy who did this.I'm not bothered whether they stop or not, the last 3 albums exist and nothing can change that.
