Stroopy121
I re-watched the Futurama movie "Bender's Big Score" last night, which I was pretty scathing about last time I watched it.I liked it a lot more this time, yeah they're a lot of the wackiness that ruined the Simpsons, and it's got very few laugh out loud moments, but it does have a lot of what Futurama became in the latter half of series 3 and series 4 - a solid sci-fi plot, sentiment, and characters which actually have depth. It's less funny than the earlier series, but way more mature and with a lot more substance. I actually really like it this time. Opinion changed. Sorry Matt. All 4 of the movies are fucking awesome. I love them. Absolutely love them. Infact, I'm going to binge watching them all tomorrow.Had I seen that first review of Big Score I would have hurled some severe abuse, you horrendous chode. As it is, I shall forgive you since you saw the light.xx
Lemonade
All 4 of the movies are fucking awesome. I love them. Absolutely love them. I was a real Futurama fanboy back in the early 00s, I had all the series on DVD but I always felt that series 4 took an alarming dip in quality. When I watched Big Score I just felt it was a continuation of that, and I was so disappointed I didn't even bother watching the other three. For a guy who actually stood outside HMV waiting for it to open on the days the series box sets were released, that's quite a turnaround. However as I said above, I think perhaps what I didn't realise then that I do realise now is that the tone of the show shifted dramatically from being a silly cartoon to being a semi-serious sci-fi show which actually fleshed out the characters and dealt with their issues, and had a bit of feeling behind it. I even had a wee tear in my eye the first time I watched "The Luck Of The Fryrish", which is still my favourite episode, and "Jurassic Bark" and "The Devils Hands Are Idle Playthings" are both examples of awesome episodes which totally tug on the heart strings. While undeniably less funny than some of the earlier episodes, they are a lot more fulfilling to watch.Anyway, that was a roundabout way of saying that I've got all the movies now and I'm going to watch them with my new outlook on them. Luck of the Fryish is definitely a great episode. The whole brainwave storyline is one of the best in a cartoon I've seen in a long time. And it's nice to see a continuous storyline unlike every other cartoon I can think of.
Jeanette
Saw The Green Lantern last night in 2d. It wasn't very good. I can't decide if being in 3d would make it any better. There were some amusing moments and Ryan Reynolds was quite nice to look at but all in all not great.
Jaaakkkeee
Jackass 3.5 The straight to dvd add-on for Jackass 3D. Worth every penny for the Jackass: The Beginning feature. Good little documentary about how it all started with some clips from the pilot and seeing them all getting arrested constantly. The 80 minutes of new footage was pretty decent too like. Worth it for any fan of the franchise.****
KarmaTsunami
Jackass is sort of a guilty pleasure for me, except I don't really feel too guilty about it so I'll probably check it out at some point! I think it's on Sky Box Office at the moment as well, however if the DVD has that extra footage then I might see how much it is.

Diesel
NedsMe and the burd watched this Peter Mullan movie last night. Pretty good, with a nice early 70's feel and an immortal one-liner near the end. Harrowing stuff. 8/

KarmaTsunami
The Fall - Kept being touted to me as the best looking film ever made. It probably is, absolutely stunning in places. The story/stories are well done as well. Hard to believe there are no special effects and the whole thing was shot on location across the world. Just, really good. Shaki
Saving Private Ryan - I hadn't seen this since it was in the cinema but had the DVD sitting about for years. It was more sentimental than I had remembered and the action, although obviously excellent, didn't have the same effect on me this time probably because it's quality has been superseded by Band of Brothers, The Pacific etc. That seems quite critical I'd still have this film down as a classic war movie. 8/10I was going to be watching Hotel Rwanda but my LoveFilm disc was faulty so that's coming again.... TR!ΔNGL€ T€€TH
Carlito's WayAl Pacino plays a gangster who has just gotten out of prison early, due to some jiggery pokery from his good friend, and lawyer, Sean Penn. Al, I mean Carlito, doesn't want to be a double hard gangster bastard anymore, and despite his best efforts, shoots and kills a fair few folk throughout the movie. Sean Penn is a right cock in it.I saw this a fair few years ago, then bought it from Lucky Rathen. It's actually quite a good gangster film, but no where on a par with the likes of Goodfellas or Casino.7/
GluteusMaximus
Just watched Paul. Although this will always be compared with Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz as ''not as good as...'', I loved it. The interplay between Pegg, Frost and the alien was superb, it was a movie that you could switch your mind off to and just sit back and enjoy.. I think it was a slightly different brand of comedy and wasn't classic Pegg and Frost. And to switch your brain off would be to miss all the in jokes and movie references! Chris
Four LionsA Chris Morris black comedy about four would be jihadists trying to get their disorganised shit together and cause some damage. I really enjoyed this. It's full of great characters, especially the group of wannabe martyrs and in particular the batshit mental Barry. The last act in particular had me laughing my ass off as the group ran around London dressed in ridiculous costumes full of explosives. Diesel
what was the one-liner? saw that movie in the cinema and although it was, as you say, pretty harrowing...i just didnt really "get" it.spoiler tag it etc etc It's the scene where the old minibus breaks down in the safari park (I assume it's Blair Drummond) and the ranger turns up in a Land Rover and says "what are you doing, there's lions here" and the wee ned with the specs says "we've no' touched yer lions mister!" - that is just so Glasgow! - apparently that happened for real. The movie is really about how the extremely clever John becomes a product of his environment, partly because of people's perception of him. The teachers and the mum of his friend from summer camp were just waiting (and probably praying) for him to fuck up.The ending - for me anyway - signifies that the authorities and society and general have given up on him and his kind. And I guess him leading the brain damaged boy through the pride of lions is a way of saying that he's on his own, but has the strength to live up to his committments and lead weaker "sheep" through the dangers. KarmaTsunami
Last couple nights...La Haine - Absolutely brilliant. Can definitely see where the comparisons to 'Do The Right Thing' come from, but in this case the film takes place in the aftermath of a riot rather than showing the the build-up. Vincent Cassel shines as Vinz and the last scene is devestating(ly brilliant).Infernal Affairs - I loved The Departed because I bum Martin Scorcese, but this was just so many times better I don't have enough fingers to count. I think I'm going to buy everything Tony Lueng has been in because he was ace. So many good, tense scenes. The Illusionist - This was beautiful. I don't think Edinburgh has ever looked better on film. The ending left me totally melancholic though, and also something in my eye. I've not seen Belleville Rendez-Vous but I'm adding it to the lovefilm list right now.
Monster Zero
Jackass 3.5Straight to DVD effort rounding up outtakes from the 3rd film mixed with interviews with the cast and crew. Usual story, if you like 'Jackass' you will get something out of it, if notI'm a 'Jackass' fanboy so I enjoyed. 9/10The Hurt LockerPretty decent film about a bomb disposal team in Iraq led by a guy with a rather gung-ho approach. Felt a bit overlong to me, I started losing interest a bit towards the end, but still a good film.9/10True LiesNot seen this in years, still probably Arnie's last good film. 8/
Guest E.C
Hall PassVery standard protocol Owen Wilson movie. Pretty boring, couple mild chuckles, good moral message at the end. Jenna Fischer was in it though, so I was greetin.
