But the Duthie Park has really let slip i think. I remember tha place used to be packed in summer with families when i was wee. I cant imagine it being the same. Alan Cynic
I liked the big frog that popped up now and again. When I was very little I got a tin clockwork submarine for a birthday present. Not knowing any better I thought it would actually work, and launched it into the boat pond. I never saw it again
Guest She-Wolf
Well Alan, the frog is still there. I like throwing my coins in sometimes. A FUN DAY OUT!

Rachie
I miss the pedal boats.Spike yelled at me cause I was pushing gravel from the cactus beds around with my foot... Then he started singing "Strangers in the Night" when I started boo-hooing. (I was only 4).
Guest Tam o' Shantie
i don't think any small child could suffer spike. it was literally terrifying. my only memory is of unadulterated fear, and then bubbling like a geyser
Miss Groupie Supreme
I thought the giant frog was far far far worse. But then again even the title of this thread filled me with fear. I wasn't a big Duthie park fan, although the fish in the ponds are pretty cool
WoodyRATM
that frog ruled.

MattJimF
I miss the pedal boats.Last time i was down there the pond the pedal boats usually are in was drained and i walked the entire length from the boat house to the little bridge thing. Also got onto the islands with having to pay and abondon the boats beside the island.

It would probably have been around 1988 that he called me a girl. I wasn't impressed :D (why did my parents make me have long hair ;( )Anyway, the terrapins were where it was at at Duthie Park. And the guy who played keyboard then admitted the whole thing came off a floppy and he was miming along!
rowan
Way back when they used to have a Zoo in the Duthie Park, if you were at the building that sold Ice Cream it would have been just to your right... Oh and was it just me or did anyone else try to trow coin's IN the big frog's nostril?
stroppycow
does anyone remember this?he was a one eyed talking cactus at the winter gardens in Duthie Park??(Yes I do. He was at one point, voiced by Derek Sim who I went to school with. Probably about the biggest acting role that an ex Kincorth Academy pupil ever had. Mouse
I loved the boats, got videos of me on them when I'm little. Also me learning to ride a bikeSpike was ace, I remember seeing him on a P1 trip back in 1991/92. I used to love the dark rooms with the fish tanks in them. What happened to all the parrots and monkeys that were there a few years ago?
Alan Cynic
They were removed because people kept prodding the parrots to make them laugh, and were inter-breeding with the monkeys. It wasdecided it wasn't 'polly-tickly correct, ape-parently'.
