3 bombs... something to do with the backs of buses exploding as well.

I'm hearing stuff from my work because one of my work mates is on his way down to an affected area.

BUS HIT BY BOMB, REPORTS

A bomb is believed to have ripped through a London bus, according to police sources.

The explosion came just minutes after a number of blasts on London's Underground.

A second explosion has been heard near the scene of the bus blast in Tavistock Square. Union sources claim there have been reports of blasts on three different buses.

Witness Belinda Seabrook said she saw an explosion rip though a bus as it approached Russell Square.

"I was on the bus in front and heard an incredible bang. I turned round and half the double decker bus was in the air," she said.

Another witness, Angie, told Sky news: "There were a whole lot of people around the bus. Next thing I was on the floor and there were a lot of people on me.

"I thought I was going to be crushed. The bus was ripped out at the back. It must have been a bomb."

Scotland Yard could not confirm reports of an explosion on a bus in Russell Square. A spokeswoman said police were at the scene and attempting to determine what had happened.

The entire Tube network has been shut down following the blasts at Aldgate, Edgware Road, King's Cross, Old Street and Russell Square.

It is understood several people have been wounded in the underground blasts, with one unconfirmed eyewitness telling Sky News he saw "bodies on the line".

British Transport Police confirmed there are "walking wounded" and said paramedics have responded to one report of a person classed as "life at risk".

"It's chaos, with people trying to work out what has happened," said a spokesman.

One witness said the packed underground train he was on was 200 metres from King's Cross when there was a huge flash.

The train stopped and people were using umberellas to smash windows of the trains. Passengers were led out of the train by underground staff.

He added people were milling around King's Cross covered in soot.

Clare Benson, 33, a city banker from Kensington, was on a tube at Edware Road where the second incident took place.

"I was in the last carriage at the back of the train nearest the tunnel when I heard a huge bang - you could feel it," she said.

"The lights went off for a couple of minutes and people were scared and wondering what to do.

"The drivers got out and were looking into the tunnel, then they announced that we should evacuate. My ears are still ringing and I was shaking."

Apparently some casualties are missing limbs :(

Emergency services are using some office foyers to treat patients and numerous buildings around the areas have either been sealed or evacuated.

If it is, then the government and police should get the hiding of their lives for wasting taxpayers money on failed anti-terrorism measures. Fair enough you can't stop a determined maniac but attacks on the scale of this show that the people in charge of our protection are either a) misinformed b) ill-informed or c) idiots

They are only prepared to act upon a terrorist attack happening... and from what I'm hearing the emergency services were in like a shot... stations were evacuated very quickly.

It's very difficult to stop an attack from happening.

christ, they've done a pretty good job to stop it happening up till now. it was only a matter of time really. the police and intelligence services in britain have done brilliantly up till now and i don't think they deserve any undue critiscm just yet. let's wait till we know the bigger picture before saying they're inept eh? from what i can tell by following the reports they were straight in and have been very professional and calm in the blast areas.

Well that's a lot of fucking use' date=' isn't it? How many times do you hear about Bush and Blair talking about prevention of terrorism? When they know fine well it is a waste of time and money to effectively prevent it?[/quote']

Shame on the police and the intelligence services for not spotting half a dozen terrorists in a cosmopolitan city of 6 million people.

Do you ever wonder how many more attacks there would have been by now if they hadn't wasted all that money?

there is one way of making sure that happens, simply kill all people who are not white, christian and conservative.

simple, eh.

wouldn't the world be a better place if we all thought the same things, wanted the same goals...

fucking pish.

Yes you are right, I for one need to find out more about this when I get home from work before commenting further. But all I'm saying is that something on this scale should probably be prevented, given the importance and publicity given to anti-terrorism. At a most obvious time on the calendar too.

That's very naive thinking. I recall only a few months ago that the emergency services in London were holding a fairly large-scale practice of how to react in a major terrorist situation. If I recall correctly the scenario they were using during this practice was an attack on the London underground funnily enough.

I bet the lessons they learned through that are now being put to very good use this morning. And certainly worth our tax-payers money.

Terrorism can never be completely prevented. Terrorism happens because terrorism works.

The only way to completely stop terrorists on a mass transport system would be to make it unusable due to the security checks, or close it down.

Unless you've got a better idea.
