David
HE'S GOT EIGHT CARS AND A HOUSE IN IRELAND...sing it.2. I want someone to name an ALBUM that is better than OK Computer. Not an artist better than Radiohead' date=' a collection of songs better than the ones on OK, but a better ALBUM. I have great belief in the album as artistic work, hence why I don't like skipping tracks on my CDs. And I fully believe that OK computer is technically accomplished, has incredibly sound and musicianship, some classic songs and lyrics, and fits together more perfectly than any other album I know of.sincerely,AKM[/quote']the bends ok computer comes off better as an album, where all the songs follow on perfectly from each other, the bends is a bit more of a collectiopn of stunning songsas for the list, i thought it was pretty good, the vast majority of it was 'real music' and not stuff like britney spears which at least says something, and almost all of the bands there are considered great, and while i dont like quite a few of the bands listed there, i at least know who they are and accept they have a lot of fans eachand maybe a lot of the albums are the more 'normal' mainstream output from the bands, that may be because those are the 'normal' albums average people like bestthe only problem i have with the list is Meatloaf... Bat out of hell only number 86? it should have been much higher David

lepeep
that's not racism !it's not racist to talk about dull peeple and tesco...no, here at conservative HQ this we need an open debate about the invasion (sorry, the influx) of "the wrong sort of peeple"....blah blah

Swingin' Ryan
Someone ( i think from the sex pistols ) saying how he's waiting for something like the sex pistols to come along again and shatter everything' date=' but he can't guess what it would be. ( i thought this was interesting, because it sure as fuck won't be all the kids inspired by the sex pistols and other bands that broke the mould)[/quote']The most depressing thing is that nothing has happened to shatter music for about 20 years. Jammer
One more thing about having OK Computer as No.1...it's a down album. Surely that's a tad depressing. There's so much postive music been produced. I like Radiohead but I can only listen to it now and again.I would rather have something upbeat or at least something that swings through various moods. Paranoid Android
I htink OK Computer is the best album of all time so i'm happy (ish) with the list some good stuff on it some bad. I've seen a lot worse top 100's and by channel 4 standards it is suprisingly good. Good to see bjork (and yes she is better the the bland doors) their, but it should have been homogenic and not debut. Biggest travesty about the list is that pet osunds was so low. The Beatles deserve 3 albums in there, but i wouldn't have picked those three though. Imo Rubber sould is their best. Back on Ok Computer, I find it incredibly uplifting not depressing, and it's light years ahead of the bends, Radiohead have 4 albums better than the bends. Also Elephant isn't the best white stripes album, de stijl is clearly their best imo.
TR!ΔNGL€ T€€TH
I own 27 of those albums... Not at all surprised by the list, as it was compiled by normal people, not music obbessives. My only surprise was that Astral Weeks wasn't on it. And no songs about fucking either. Laxton's Superb
i have 13 of them.....how the hell did Dido get in? fucking hell......
El Pacino
It seems like a pretty good list although there not many different types of music in there.OK Computer is good but not that good.I read that someone asked why the beatles were in their??They created everything you know today from effects, feedback, loops, early programming, the first use of synths, distortion etc etc. They were fucking genuises of the highest order and thats why they were in the Top 100. Music would be shit if it wasn't for them.
Dead_Fashion
you know if your complaining... and you didnt vote then you kind of, better of, shut up by nowi didnt vote, not particularly impressed by the list but hey i didnt vote tony blair in... Paranoid Android
One other thing i found odd was having fear of music by talking heads in the list, but not remain in light, which i think is far better but also i believe it is considered by most music critics and fans to be their best, so it was a bit of a strange decision. And i did vote.

Guest Zeenat Aman
Was it the repeat of the program that was originally aired in 1998 or there abouts? If so, OK Computer came out in 1997, so it isn't really surprising that it charted at No.1. At the time of release, I thought it was a great album and listened to it a lot.

julia
just looking at the list, I can see about 10 albums I'd put into my top 100 but the thing is, how many people actually go on the site and vote? hopefully this isnt actually a fair representation of what the British public actually think. Saying that Pulp's Different Class at 70? Jeff Buckley's Grace only at 61?! This list is pretty bad.

Paranoid Android
yeah ok computer was number 1 in 98 in Q, they done it again in 2003 and it dropped to 2, Nevermind moved up to 1, although it was around the time that they were in the news again, i think it was round about their greatest hits and "you know you're right" being released.
