  1. Who: idol_wild Where: Moshulu When: Tuesday Doing: Watching Broken Records, and presumably being as bowled over as I was.
  2. Glad this went well, I would have come but the lure of the Little Kicks gig was just too strong. I'm a big fan of all the bands on the bill so I was disappointed I had to miss it. Also, Calum, you've done yourself proud with these nights. All the best!
  3. Additional support from the mighty Farewell Singapore as well. This will be aaaace. Tickets are 5. Doors, I believe, are 7.30pm. All in association with those fine fine fellows at AGP!
  4. Belting! I'll have to see if any of my pals are up for this one...
  5. Great news, thanks for that. Charlene Soria (sp) supporting? She was pretty good at Jon Allen.
  6. Thanks for the tip, I'll get right on it.
  7. Anyone else enjoying this stuff? For the uninitiated, basically a spoof 80s hair metal band with a load of songs that are actually far more intelligent than you'd expect. It's pretty ace in terms of observation etc. and is actually genuinely laugh out loud funny in places. They're good musicians too, so all their stuff that's spoofing Whitesnake, Def Leppard and that comes off with a bit of authenticity. Sample lyrics I would give you the stars in the sky, but they're too far away If you were a hooker you'd know I'd be happy to pay If suddenly you were a guy, I'd be suddenly gay 'Cos my heart belongs to you My love is pure and true My heart belongs to you But my cock is community property Steel Panther on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads Album "Feel The Steel" is out on Monday. Seems to be retailing everywhere for about 6. Could be a chuckle.
  8. I quite fancy the super-mega-special edition of this one, it looks amazing. I'm a total sucker for fancy packaging. It's going to be my financial ruination. Lucky enough to have seen this band twice, a class act in every sense of the word.
  9. All over this one. Bright Light Ballads is brilliant. Dangling Threads is one of my songs of the year so far. Are doors definitely 8.30? I've got a friend coming who's going to be a little ropey time-wise and that would help me out a great deal.
  10. Lights Action: Totally ace. I need to properly check out telegraphs. I don't know much about them but they're getting really good press at the minute.
  11. They're a little rough around the edges live but they've only played about five gigs or so. I'd check them out at some point, for sure. Once they tighten up I reckon they could end up doing pretty well for themselves, no doubt.
  12. They're akin to that annoying kid in every classroom. If you show that you're annoyed, you only encourage them. The only course of action is to ignore them and hope to god they go away. Actually the worst band in the history of time, but saying that just throws gas on the fire. It's a horrible paradox.
  13. Eleven Eleven are getting some pretty ace support slots at the moment.
  14. Did you like American Idiot? You'll almost certainly like this if you did. A lot more piano in the mix and a couple of misfires, but it isn't bad.
  15. Emmy the Great at Moshulu a couple of months back was pretty respectfully received. Anyone see Jose Gonzalez when he played Moshulu back in '06/'07? That was a total disaster in that regard. I seem to remember an Ocean Colour Scene acoustic show at The Lemon Tree that had the same problem. Generally the acoustic shows I've been to recently have been pretty decent in terms of audience respect, but the bad ones have been total nightmares. Obviously I'm not expecting everyone to keep completely silent for the duration, but it strikes me as downright rude when (as happened on Friday night) there are even people in the front couple of rows with their backs to the stage, holding loud conversations with their mates.

    That 70s Show

I'm a long-standing fan of this, but I do think it hit a drastic quality decline in the last season. Not the massive disaster it had the potential to be, but still not great. Still though, the first few seasons in particular were totally ace.
  17. Cutting the strings? Does this strike anyone else as more along the lines of "causing you mild inconvenience" than "hell hath no fury like a woman scorned"?
  18. Yeah, this was well annoying. Thought the crowd were really discourteous during the supports, and to an extent, through Scott's set. A pity, since JJ and Steve were both on cracking form, I thought.
  19. Headlight are now also playing this show. Score! Chuffed about this, been wanting to play with Farewell Singapore for a while, and Post War Years sound pretty ace as well. Good times
  20. Everyone was ace. Good night! As only a casual FR fan up until now, consider me a total convert.
  21. When we were in the Lemon Tree on Thursday for the Sergeant show, I was pretty much astounded at some of the stuff that's on at the Lemon Tree that hasn't seemed to have been promoted that much (Average White Band, for example?). Maybe I'm just being blind but I'm on the go in town quite a lot and I haven't seen posters for that kind of stuff. In other news, Sergeant were pretty decent, if a bit obvious. I can see why they've caught on.
  22. Curiously enough, my sister and me found an old cassette the other day with a Leads track on it. Curious-er still, we both remembered the words. Certainly livened up the drive home! In other news, all the best to "Marionettes". I'll probably have to miss the Lemon Tree show, but I'd recommend checking them out to anyone who hasn't yet, I enjoyed them when we played together in November.
