  1. Thought the Inbetweeners Series Finale was outstanding. Some great lines. Getting a bit sick of Will though, he's becoming a bit of a caricature I think.
  2. Wise move. The reason I streamed it is because I was never too keen on them before. Having now listened to it a ton of times in the last couple of days, I wish I'd just gambled and bought it, and heard it properly for the first time. It's properly brilliant. Interested to see what the short film that comes with it turns out like as well...
  3. Anyone heard this yet? Speaking as a total Gallows cynic, I can confidently say that I'm turned around on them now. I think it's pretty amazing, especially London Is The Reason, Crucifucks, The Vulture and I Dread The Night. Lyrically I think it's pretty ace as well. Streaming over at GALLOWS (GREY BRITAIN STREAMING NOW!!) on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads
  4. Farewell Singapore are ace. If it wasn't for the fact that I'm already going to three gigs this week, I'd probably have given this a look, but need to start thinking of the cash!
  5. I meant to post back in here earlier. I really enjoyed this week's episode, loved the scenes with Patrice, probably the best one of the series so far. Also, the scene with Jay trying to close his laptop with his dead arm was properly hilarious. I know what you mean though, I think Jay's character is most guilty of the humour being really repetitive. That said, I'm still laughing so I suppose it can't bother me that much. Line of the week this week for me was when Jay said he was bringing the girl to Will's meal... "Does she have any special dietary requirements? I've never cooked for an imaginary woman before."
  6. Was this after their set with Exit Ten? I wasn't sure about them, but then again, it's not really my thing anyway. Got the crowd going pretty nicely, all the same.
  7. The Lonely Island are one of the best comedy/novelty acts on the go I think. Incredibad is, broadly speaking, really funny. There's a couple of misfires but generally I think it's ace. A lot of laughs to be had. My favourite just now is probably Dreamgirl or I'm On A Boat. The videos on the DVD are pretty good as well. The Bing Bong Brothers really makes me laugh, such a good thing to parody.
  8. This was great. Really enjoyed Jon Allen and support as well. As a side note, is there no one in the Lemon Tree during the day or something? Phoned the box office all through the afternoon trying to get an idea of stage times. We were coming through from Peterhead on a relatively tight timescale and it would have been handy to know. All the same, really good show. Nice atmosphere, what with the seating and the candles. A little unusual, in a good way.
  9. I re-watched American Beauty for the first time in ages the other night, still love it. Also, Inside Man. What an ace film.
  10. I'd be willing to give this a crack. I've been writing over at ROCKMIDGETS.COM ...size matters... for over a year and enjoy that. Although I probably wouldn't be able to do a load at a time, I could help out if you like. If you head to the reviews section of Midgets, there's a few of my things near the top. My name is Mitch Bain.
  11. My favourite band I ever saw at Drakes was Draw from Glenrothes/Fife area. Saw them a couple of times, still probably my favourite unsigned band I'd ever seen live. Ridiculously good songs!
  12. I thought this was going to stray into "token quirky cover" territory but it's actually pretty ace. Saw Amber at Wizard '08. Very enjoyable indeed, her voice is so easy on the ear.
  13. You clearly haven't seen sixpeopleaway before
  14. They were ace at that show we all played together. I'd come.
  15. There is always one in the group who looks like Newton Faulkner. No idea exactly why that is. Both the headphone and clothesline stories are pretty cringeworthy. Where the hell do they get off acting like that? The irony is that surely you'd be more inclined to give to a charity if the worker just kind of stopped you politely rather than doing something as glaringly obnoxious as that?
  16. Anyone going to this? I can't wait to see Exit Ten, been keen on them for a while now. Doors are at 7, and entry is 5 I believe.
  17. Properly gutted I can't manage this, been gasping to see Curators again since we played with them in December. All the best though everybody, hope it's a successful, well-attended show.
  18. I don't understand why people continually compare The Inbetweeners and Skins to be fair. The only similarity is that they both focus on kids that are the same age. The Inbetweeners is at least a halfway accurate representation of what school was/is like for a lot of people. I don't see how people can seriously suggest Skins tackles contentious or serious issues when it's so radically divorced from reality. As Craig correctly pointed out, NO ONE lives like that. No contest, The Inbetweeners.
  19. "You must spread some reputation around before giving to idol_wild again." I loved this rant, and all the proceeding sub-rants it triggered. To chip in myself, anyone, and I mean anyone from any agency that stops me in the street when I have headphones in. It's surely a red flag that I'm not feeling particularly communicative. Also, the particularly 'zany' charity workers etc. who hold a big song and dance when people don't stop to talk to them. Also, people who start a story about a night out by giving you an itemised list of everything they drank. I'm hard pressed to think of anything in the world I care less about.
  20. I'm playing stand-in bass for The Form at this one. Should be a chuckle.
  21. Utterly amazing live band. Saw them at SECC in November 06 when Mastodon supported, is that the same gig you were at? Totally ace.
  22. I have begun collaring five minutes per practice where I seize an electric guitar, switch to a heavily distorted channel and batter out some Metallica riffs and OTT, improvised (if thoroughly unremarkable) solos. It's theraputic, and having played guitar for 11 years, I sometimes find bass a little restrictive!
  23. Just watched 'American Splendor' with the parents. It's about the comic book writer Harvey Pekar. Anybody seen it? I really enjoyed it, in a strange sort of way.
