  1. Yes, "Boys and Girls in America" by The Hold Steady is a great feel good album. One of those albums without a weak song. I find "The Life Persuit" by Belle and Sebastian a good album also for those Friday morning blues.
  2. Paul Scholes?! I thought the same thing during the game.
  3. On the contrary. It will be winter in South Africa during the world cup so the weather will be mild compared to a world cup held in Spain or Italy during the northen hemispheres summer. The conditions should favour England for example...
  4. I must admit - and it pains me to do so - but England have a very good chance this time. Their players and backroom staff are as good as any of your Brazils or Spains; although I think Spain are probably slightly better on paper. This creates more potential for an even bigger upset when Portugal knock them out in the quarter final on penalties! I'm going with Japan, Australia as the teams I will be supporting. Just 'cause. I think Spain, Brazil or England will win though. Ivory Coast will be the best contenders of the African nations although I can see South Africa getting past the group stages.
  5. I don't get it... I think you actually know my girlfriend unless there is another drummer called Christy from a band called Edgar Prais. Edgar Prais were awesome. You still going?
  6. Here's 16 in no particular order: Pearl Jam - Riot Act Tool - Lateralus Bad Religion - The Empire Strikes First Belle and Sebastian - The Life Pursuit At the Drive In - Relationships of Command Band of Horses - Everything All the Time Pearl Jam- Pearl Jam Frightened Rabbit - The Midnight Organ Fight Brand New - The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me Brand New - Deja Entendu Chris T-T - Capital Deftones - White Pony Elliot Smith - From a Basement on the Hill The Shins - Chutes Too Narrow Slipknot - Volume 3: The Subliminal Verses Taking Back Sunday - Louder Now (admittedly a guilty pleasure) Man, I'm so mainstream. My girlfirend just informed me that NME put The Strkes - This Is It as their #1 album of the noughties which I find ridiculous but not at all surprising!
  7. Yeah, Kanye sucks. I have him on my i-pod as a friend of mine was convinced I'd like him but they couldn't have been more wrong. He just seems to sample other songs then mumble over the top, and as Shaki pointed out: he's a total c*nt. President Obama was right when he dubbed him a "jackass". Legend. Anyway, cannae wait for this one. Was enjoying Dananananaykroyd this morning. They have the kind of sound that will be really great live, and I've heard they are. Yas.
  8. Wise words, I often worry about the same thing! I'm crap at fighting.
  9. Biere D'or - Tesco brand I think - taste brilliant. I had a whole week in the sticks on them.
  10. Who are Lemuria anyway? Awesome!
  11. Greetings. One of the bands I play in - "The Errol Street Invitational" - have our debut gig at cafe Drummonds tonight (the 6th of May)! We are a hard-rock band who some might describe as metal. Influenced by bands like A Perfect Circle, Oceansize and Faith No More. We only have an acoustic track up on myspace: Errol Street Invitational on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads which doesn't really represent our sound but is quite nice. If anyone is in the neighbourhood we would appreciate any attendance what so ever! Playing with a band called "Into the Wilderness" who I've never heard and can't find on myspace. Extremely short notice but no harm done I suppose! Cheers Dallas
  12. That's good that some people are digging it. It's shame you can't hear the bass drum in any of the recordings. Huw, I should overdub bass drum. That would be really difficult. Why use ten?
  13. Try amaretto and lilt! I went back to a mates house one night after a night out and these were the only two ingredients available to us. So we poured them out and they looked and smelt horrible.... but they tasted fantastic! Awesome. Recap: amaretto and lilt.
  14. I know a Hanz (or Hance I think) that washes dishes... at the hub?
  15. What exactly are the upgrades you can download for the game. I loved this game for about 2 days and then got very bored. I find it's repetitiveness and the lack of guns to be the main flaws. Those witches though man.... very scary.
  16. I'm a big Tekken fan when it comes to fighting games and am reasonably shit at street fighter. I think CoD4, mario kart, Tekken 5 and Fifa 09 would be good shouts, mind you it would require 3 consoles!! As for Fifa 09, I was long standing pro ev man until the latest additions of each game and I think the Fifa series has eclipsed Pro Ev in every aspect now. Most of my friends were big Pro Ev fans also and I've managed to convert their stubborn minds. I reckon more people play the Fifa series now as well. Sounds fun though!

    Pet Hates!

My ex-girlfriends new, handsome, sporty, tall boyfriend. He's so much taller than me....
  18. I was only there as back-up but worked more towards the end. I was the dj on a few nights. I have no djing skills, I just like a few bands. Probably led to it's ultimate demise actually:down:
  19. When I was working at the Union the manager-to-be came in and took the piss out of all the bar staff and the manager of the union. We told him he probably wouldn't do very well considering the pubs location and he was just an asshole about the whole thing, laughed in our faces. I mean, if a student union isn't going to make any money in that location, how the hell is a generic, overpriced (apparently) Irish pub going to. The manager was a tosser.
  20. That is awesome. RE: Red light. My friend had this problem. He wrapped it in a leather jacket as it was an overheating problem and this somehow cooled it down. Odd I know but it worked for a good couple of weeks...
  21. That's a good point. It's Neil Young, in Aberdeen! I think this is going to be awesome, mind you I havn't been to a gig in the AECC for a very long time. I bought a ticket and I'm excited.
  22. Faith No More are one of my favourite bands. I sadly wont have enought money to see them at Download as I plan on going abroad for some of that sunshine. If they play anywhere abroad I will definitely base my holiday around it; like I did with RATM in Berlin last year or Pearl Jam in Barcelona, 2006. It's the best kind of holiday. I love everything they have done although I agree that Album of the Year was rather "patchy". Albums like King for a Day, Fool for a Lifetime don't come along very often. That album was so wondefully erratic. As long as they stick to their own brand of rock music - and don't try and recreate the very experimantal sound of Patton's other bands over the years - I can see this being lovely. Good News.
